In Germany I find most supermarkets (especially places like Edeka) to be really quiet, and shopping is actually a pleasant experience. But I came back to the UK last year and I've noticed how LOUD people are in supermarkets! There are always screaming kids in there, people having loud conversations, the beeping tills, the loud af tanoy announcements (B&M almost gave me a heart attack lmao), the coughing in crowds of people without covering their mouth... 💀 And Sunday's feel weird to me in the UK because Sundays are quiet days! Why are people mowing their lawns or doing DIY in the UK on a Sunday? I feel like shouting SONNTAG IST RUHETAG. 😂

I remember now, in former times we had as well constant music and some announcements in supermarkets. But this vanished. I think they realized the people in Germany enjoy more the silence.

It's weird you would hear the British anthem in the beginning of a video about Germany. Seems like someone confused something there...

Culture in Germany is very very different depending on where you are. You probably will not find detailed videos on whar life in the Marburger Hinterland or in Eiderstedt is like.

I do not know who brought this idea that everything should be closed in Germany on sundays , and on working days everything is closed after like 20h00 , worst idear ever ..... people are humans they can not be machines they can be 80% organized even 90% but not100% organized and have the time to do everything , some people wants to do meetings in restaurants at nights after work , some people wants to make plans together about anything outside home ..... that is just crazy how this country is against changes !

20 years or so ago most shops closed at 6 pm and some additonally were even closed between 1 and 3 pm. On Saturdays they closed at noon. It was very inconvenient for people working their usual shifts. You had to run to get your grocery shopping done. This now is heaven..

What about the people working there? And it destroys the small shops. In the 70ies shops closed between 12:30 -15 and 18 or 18:30. And they closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:30 or 13:00.

the idea was from a combination of Christian influences and Left wings/Socialists/Unions (which, what most people dont know, because most are stupid like hell, are actually a split from Christianity at the time of enlightenment. Left wings were never enlighten, only half. Thats also the reason why in most NGOs and stuff you find both)
