We focused on mostly driving and left maneuver training for last. When we eventually started doing maneuvers, he just get cranky like in a fit of rage when I mess up. Pretty much what made me go hiatus on my driving lessons. And went for a different instructor. Some instructors just do not get that some suffer more anxiety more than the other.

learnt via the same method, but don't understand why I was taught odd references that are fairly height specific, meaning most for parallel and bay parking didn't work as I'm quite tall
@AdvanceDrivingSchool5 жыл бұрын
Reference points often have to be adjusted to suit the individual, as everyones driving position is different. On this manoeuvre we generally need to fine-tune the position of the left mirror to suit each driver. Once the correct position is found, the manoeuvre is then quite reliable.

I am unsure what to do, whether to look for the 45 degrees or for when the kerb disappears? Should I look for both or just one when deciding to steer right?
@PhearMyWrath4 жыл бұрын
I seem to struggle with when to turn right. When I do I either end up too far from the kerb or I am too close. What am I doing wrong? Can't figure out a reference point
@AdvanceDrivingSchool4 жыл бұрын
We like to use the kerb disappearing from the left mirror as a reference point, but you might need to find your own. Of course, all reference points are a little inaccurate, as there are so many variables - such as the exact speed of the car, the speed we turn the steering wheel, or even our seating and mirror position. This is why we like to do everything slowly, so that we are more precise with our car control. Keep practising and you'll get it eventually!

Thank you for your videos they have been great help to me.I have a test next week , my instructor thinks am ok but we have been fighting over me drifting too close to the curb or parked cars on my left. What reference point would you suggest?
@AdvanceDrivingSchool6 жыл бұрын
When driving along normal roads I often suggest lining the centre of the road with the bottom right corner of the windscreen, as it generally puts the car into a good road position. When passing parked cars there is no reference, but we should leave a 'doors width' gap whenever possible, incase someone opens their car door unexpectedly. If you need help judging this why not stop alongside a parked car with this gap and get used to how it looks, before practising at low speed. HTH

When you say at the end steering while stationary can help, how does it help if you're not moving and therefor can't tell what directional effect it has on the wheels?
@AdvanceDrivingSchool5 жыл бұрын
If you steer fully right (or left) whilst stationary, then you know that as soon as the car moves it will turn hard right (or left!) - which can be helpful when it a tight spot.
