Dad was a lifelong truckie in Oz. Drove anything and everything. One of his last gigs was driving McAleese sugar trucks in Mackay, M.A.N. diesels with dual axle steer with one trailer, the longest they'd allow to go through town. At the end of the day, all the trucks were reversed in to their respective bays ... and no one could do it. Dad would finish his day reverse-parking a dozen or so... all the others would trot off home and leave him to it.

Reversing any combination-vehicle requires the equation of "length × breadth × area", so backing up an interlink is only possible given the area space available.
@1one3_Racing4 жыл бұрын
Yep. Its possible to go a short distance if you overrun a turn or gateway or need to get out of a park or off a fuel bowser, but generally you don't even bother. I used to reverse the AB-triple when we were unloading side tippers and I've seen guys back AB-triples onto a grain auger but A triple or ABB-quad like that, you just don't. I generally don't even reverse the A-double onto the dog trailer when hooking up A-triple

I’m a HGV driver for Asda Distribution here in the UK. I’ve been driving HGV’s now for 17 years so I’ve got plenty of experience. I’d love some advice on becoming a truck driver over in Brisbane, Australia. I’ve been searching for work on Seek but most of the driving jobs want you to be an Australian Citizen to apply. Would I have to sign up for an agency first? We do intend on becoming citizens once we complete our visa application this year. We already have family out in Brisbane too hence the reason we want to come out to Australia. We have visited Perth and Brisbane before with our children and we fell in love with the place.

The Volvo/Scania is known for having a real soft steering and is heaps helpful for reversing a road train unlike some of the Daffi ducks steering that I have got to drive overtime.. they are so heavy that you have to break your elbows and use it for leverage to reverse a road train!

Kenworth are comfortably the number one seller of heavy duty trucks in Australia. I've driven American and European trucks in both highway and off highway work in Oz. European stuff isn't remotely as durable as KW/Mack/W.Star particularly in the dirt. And check out the condition and relative resale value of a KW that has 800,000kms on the dirt and a European cabover. If the European truck hasn't been hauled off to Simsmetal
