before health took me off hte road, i was BARELY able to reverse a tandem. this would scare me but i guess it comes with time and skill alot of skill.

so true that is you will get the hang of it what makes it worse when every and there dog is watching or u get people how to do it when the have no idea how to do it. if u on dirt try to follow the old tyre marks if there is any what i found is a good thing to do put a mark on the ground in line of your door so can judged not to hit the ring feeder

The secret to pushing two trailers backwards is watch the dolly. First you get both trailers dead straight and lined up with what it is or where you want them to go towards and then start to reverse. When the dolly starts to swing, stop and go forward until everything is back in line and start reversing again. If you do this before the dolly swings too far, you will always be going further in reverse than you are going forward to line everything up again. That's all there is to it - watch the dolly. The only spoiler is this - make sure you are reversing on level ground or up a slope. Reversing two trailers down a slope can be a nightmare sometimes because the dolly and dog might want to go off in any direction they please and you could be in for a long day. You can get lucky sometimes, but I usually tried very hard to avoid the down hill stuff. The bloke reversing that road train did it pretty well, considering the draw bar on his dolly was shorter than you usually see these days. The longer the draw bar, the easier the job gets.

It's akin to backing up a set of super bs. You line things up and treat it like a big ass long single.Slow backing and very small movements at the wheel.

Super bs are much easier to back than an a train. Less pivot points. In an a train like this you have to control the dolly while trying to aim the rear trailer where you need it to go. It really messes up everything you learned backing a semi trailer.

I'll give you seven secrets. In my terminology that is an 11 Axle A Double. Basically 3 pivot points. The first secret to me is to break the configuration down into axle group sets. 1. single axle steerers 2 dual axle drivers 3. first trailer triple axles 4. double dolly axles 5 second trailer triple axles Second secret For a straight line reverse pull forward like this driver did so that you can see both the trailer axle sets(3,5) and dolly set(4) though both left and right hand mirrors. Third secret. identify the dolly set(4) and your aim now is as you reverse to keep this set aligned with the second trailers set(5). If you lose sight of the dolly set in both mirror sides, you are blinded and recovery is very difficult. Fourth secret The first trailer set(3) controls the dolly set(4). So a right hand down steering movement will cause the dolly to move to the right. And similar with the left. But since the dolly set(4) has such a short drawbar it is far more responsive than either trailer. Fifth secret Under steering (or less steering) is easier to correct than over steering. so don't be too aggressive with the steering. Sixth secret For minor steering changes try balance steering. For example for a left hand adjustment. Smoothly pull the steering wheel to the left then immediately return the wheel to straight ahead. Both movements should be done at the same speed and smoothly. Doing a balance steer correctly will alter the position of the truck's alignment shift the front trailer's angle (3) to the right and then change the dolly's (4) angle to the left. Remember you are trying to keep the dolly set(4) aligned with the second trailer axle set(5). Seventh secret When you mess up, pull forward. However you can use a shorter distance if you turn the correct way. If you think the dolly(4) has gone to far to the right, turn to the left and then too the right. But what is more important than any secrets, is practice.
