Yes. A "bass" recorder in C is what I would call a "great bass." Calling the smaller bass recorder in F a "basset" means that all the names for the larger bass recorders shift from the names I'm used to. The larger bass recorder in F that I would call a "contrabass" becomes a "great bass." My "sub-contrabass" in C becomes a "contrabass." The bass/basset usage can lead to misunderstandings.

This was played on a C-Bass Recorder in a'=415 Hrz. hand made by Friedrich von Huene for the recording of The Art of Fugue by the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet. The German Recorder factory Mollenhauer measured the instrument extensively and produces very nice copies now - however scaled down to a'=440 Hrz - under the name Denner Bass.

Dank je voor jouw interesse. Ja, ik heb ook voor jeugdige spelers geschreven. Bij Schott Verlag zijn o.a. uitgegeven mijn duetten: "Breath Machines" en "A Musical Journey". Op de site van "free-scores.com" vind je nog een trio "Where Eagles dare". Voor de hele kleintjes heb ik vijf duetten in de "Duo Schatzkiste" Schott ED 21629 voor sopraan blokfluiten (Zauberwalzer, Fruehlingstanz, 2 Riesen, Maeusefuesse, Stille Wellen) en twee duetten voor altblokfluiten in de bundel "Duo Schatzkiste" Schott ED 21384 (Cubafluta, Minimal Dreams waves). Voor meerdere niveaus dan mijn "7 Minimal Preludes" voor solo blokfluit, genoteerd voor alt maar speelbaar op alle soorten blokfluiten. Schott OFB 212.

Yes it is a Great Bass, and what you call a normal Bass, I call a “Basset in f”. Since there are so many even greater Basses around today, I like to use the Renaissance and Baroque names. So here are is a list for your information: 1: Exilent (or Garklein Flötlein) in c’’’ 2: Sopranino (or Flautino) in f’’ 3: Soprano (or Descant) in d’’ (or Sixth flute) 4: Soprano (or Descant) in c’’ (or Fifth flute) 5: Soprano (or Descant) in b’-flat (or Fourth flute) 6: Soprano (or Descant) in a’ (or Third flute) 7: Alto (or Treble) in g’ (or Flauto Italiano) 8: Alto (or Treble) in in f’ (or Common flute) 9: Alto (or Treble) in e’-flat (or French flute) 10: Tenor in d’ (or Voice flute) 11: Tenor in c’ 12: Tenor in b-flat, small-octave (or low fourth flute) 13: Basset in g, small-octave 14: Basset in f, small-octave 15: Bass in c, small octave 16: Bass in B, great-octave 17: Sub Bass in F, great-octave 18: Contra Bass in C, great-octave 19: Sub Contra Bass in F, contra-octave
