This car defines the word 'sleeper.' Matt Farah's review on it showed what this thing is capable of. And honestly, it's worth every bit of $45,000 IMO. I wish I could find one in my area and test drive it. Sure as would scare the crap out the dealer haha! Awesome review BTW. The first pull you did surprised me, really. It hooked and flew like nothing! Everyone, if your parents ever buy this car and you get the night out with it to go hang with your friends, make their mouths drop!

You're lucky to have it, really. What we used to have here (middle east) was the Lumina aka the holden commodore, but was replaced by the malibu. We still have the holden caprice which is a sleeper too. (chevy badge btw). This SS is awesome!!
@Trades469 жыл бұрын
People actually buy this? I bet many buyers who walk into a GM showroom don't even know what this is. I haven't even seen any on the roads here. Cool sleeper nonetheless; very fun when a Civic Si, Mazdaspeed 3 or Focus ST wants to race your 'Impala' or 'Malibu' and gets utterly humiliated.

Ali Haidar You can blame GM for that. All part of the plan to kill the Commodore and then as a consequence, Holden. I bet they will try and sell cadilac in Aus once that happens...Australians wouldnt buy them, they are too busy buying real luxury cars (German).

The 2014 Chevorlet SS Sedan aka Holden Commodore VF. Holden is based in Australia and is subsidiary of General Motors. It's nothing more than a Australian car badged as Chevrolet for the U.S. market. The Holden Commodore VF and Chevrolet SS are basically the same dam car other than having different badges. The Commodore VF however is available in 3 body style choices for the Australian Market. It comes in a 2-door coupe,4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon.

peter crick Just going off the info that I researched on this car. From what I researched GM plans on discontinuing this model anyway. I was just pointing out the fact that GM pulls this type of shit. Selling foreign made cars rebadged as U.S. domestics. They did this with the Cadillac Catera aka Holden/Opel/Vauxhall Omega,Saturn Astra aka Holden/Opel/Vauxhall Astra and the discontinued Chevrolet Aveo which is a Daewoo a Korean made car. Hopefully you get my point!
@Rekkless10 жыл бұрын
Why does every video of a Chevy SS need to have an Australian saying "Its a Holden, its based on the VF commodore" yeah mate we know the whole world knows. You don't see every Porche video with some German going "Its German everybody, this Porche is German" FYI I'm Australian too, it just does my head in reading about how this is a Commodore in every damn video.
@lordmaul310 жыл бұрын
shakybones007 You from Australia....GOOD FOR YOU....CONGRATULATIONS DUDE! Like I really give a dam! Since you are from Australia dude you should know that Holden is subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. Just type in Chevrlet SS or VF Commodore in your search engine and/or google the dam car. I'm talking about the 4-door version only not the other body styles unavailable in the U.S. You will see the cars are virtually the same car other than having different badges. Plus there's a gotdam video on KZbin about the car. For example real car guys know that an Acura NSX is technically a Honda NSX in Japan. One version is for the U.S. market and the other version is for the Japanese car market. Most Americans have never even heard of Holden and wouldn't buy a car called a Holden SS and/or VF Commodore. So it would make since to rebadge the car as a Chevrolet. LOL It's called marketing dude!
@thewiirocks10 жыл бұрын
What's probably not obvious is that it's really a flabby and soft Camaro. Same engine as the Camaro SS, a bucket-full of the same interior / body parts, but toned down into Malibu body territory. It's not a bad car. There are two key weaknesses holding it back: 1. The ho-hum styling isn't befitting of a performance car. As much as I despise Chrysler they know how to style the Charger. 2. As if the gas mileage wasn't bad enough, getting hit with a gas guzzler tax is rather painful. Plenty of buyers feel guilty (assuming that the extra dough isn't too stressful for their pocketbook) and get something else like a Cadillac, Camaro V6, or - shockingly for gas mileage - a Corvette.

I own an SS and in my life I've owned many Muscle cars. The one thing that that makes this car a pleasure to drive is the combination of power, speed and handling. It's unreal for a car that size to handle that well. OK, the SRT's are slightly faster straight line as well as the Mustang. But put the SRT's on a track or winding road and they will kill something (probably you). The Mustang is nice as long as you're not going out with another Adult couple and at my age (61), that's a consideration.

Good to see such a good review of this Aussie designed and built car. Just a pity Chev didn’t market it properly so that the Australian Factory that built these could stay open long enough to keep these cars alive. If parts become hard to get, look to Australia. We have thousands of them on the road. We even got a Station Wagon and 6cyl version which got the 3.0l V6 and the 3.6l version in the sportier 6Cyl. You guys did get the best though. The manual is what I have, but they only came with 6.0l L77 V8’s here until we released the series 2. That’s when we got LS3.

Yup I agree with subaruwrxfan, I looked up and down various manufactures and for the refinement, size and power it's really tough to beat for $45k. The Mercedes C class you can get with the sport package and be at around $43k but under powered big time. Only car that comes close to power and size is the Dodge Super bee, it's got 470HP for $45k but no luxury. So Yes the SS wins hands down for sure. If I had the position for a $45k sedan hands down the SS wins but if it didn't matter my personal choice would be the new 2015 Nismo 370Z. If it had to be a 4 door I'm getting a 2015 Subaru Limited STI fully loaded with all the performance bits for $42k.
@kaiden539510 жыл бұрын
I'll go with the Mercedes.
@theaudiophilestore9 жыл бұрын
Plus, don't even think of getting financed for a Mercedes even if you can get financed for an Impala SS. You'd better have perfect credit before you think Mercedes will finance you. Most people (those who don't have stellar credit anyway) don't realized this fact. Also, if you can get a Mercedes, realize that you will be treated differently on the road than most other cars. If you don't mind being treated like a snooty person with lots of haters against you, look more towards a sleeper vehicle that gives you more performance for the dollar. Otherwise, go for it -more power to you! ♫
@coopsnz17 жыл бұрын
In Australia a 2016 wrx sti and ssv( Chevy ss) are the same price .
@theaudiophilestore7 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: I own a Focus ST now, and when I was comparison shopping, I test drove a WRX, and much preferred the ST as it was the only car to put a smile on my face when I drove it (I also test driven a Cadillac ATS 2.0T AWD 6-spd manual, BMW 335xi) with the ATS a close second but for a lot more $$$. With that being said, if I could afford it, I would opt for the Focus RS over all of the others in the price range (i.e. $35k-$45k) because it is, IMHO, the best bang for the buck. But if you need to have that great V-8 sound along with the performance, the SS is a no-brainer for the money. -Former 1987 Mustang 5.0L owner. ♫

"It comes with everything so you don't have to option it out like a BMW" Well I'd actually like to be able to pick and choose what options I want to keep the price down. Like I wouldn't get all the parking and other nanny aides and I probably wouldn't get the push button start, unless it came standard, at the same price as it'd cost with a normal key. I also probably wouldn't get the touch screen or bose sound system, as I'd be putting my own stuff in at some point.

Nikomak99 Umm never said he was gay. I said his reactions are fruity. Means he overreacts like he never drove a car before

I'm betting when the manual comes out, its gonna be the same 7 speed from the corvette stingray. :) HOPEFULLY they will also update the automatic because in case you haven't heard, the Stingray gets a 8 speed auto in 2015 and then maybe bring it to the SS.
