I'd REALLY like to hear the excuses that EVO, Drive, Motor Trend, et al have as to how is it that, even with six camera men per shoot, $100K in video equipment, professional writers and exotic locations, that an amateur, driving around the Chicago suburbs, produces more compelling car videos than they do, time and time again. Well done sir!
@myaccount__72697 жыл бұрын
Motortrend KZbin does a GREAT job with their head 2 head videos. Matt is good but no comparison to mtrend. He does a GREAT AMAZING job but you can't beat people who do it full time with crew, script etc.
@overbuiltlimited7 жыл бұрын
I said that the SG vids are more compelling and I stand by that statement. They carry much more information to a car buyer than any MT vid. Mark really conveys what it is like to live with the car. He goes into detail that the other guys just don't. I mean he spends ten minutes talking about the underside of the car. No one else does that. Then there are the truly awful scripts that MT has. They should fire whoever writes them. Truly nails on a chalkboard bad. So yes, SG can and does beat people who do it full time. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
@weedmastersr7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I have enjoyed watching this review of the Giulia QV much more than that of MotorTrend. MotorTrend might have a bigger budget but they're kinda crappy in the writing department. I don't subscribe to and understand their views as much as I do with this guy. They try to insert too much forced, unfunny, humor. Plus, these reviews are way more detailed.
@oldtwins7 жыл бұрын
MT and other biggies rely on ratings so they use gimmicks, such as burning rubber, drifting, fake screaming, yelling, good guy/ bad guy rhetoric, and other pre-written tactics to tell an exciting story. none of that here. production done is a piece of art.

The old Motortrend Ignition videos used to be good, when they had a structure: intro, drag strip, figure eight, canyons... but now they are all over the place and have some seriously schizophrenic editing.

michel, do you have some kind of personal beef with this guy? because i have no ax to grind, and i don't see where you get this from....
@michelcoulon39237 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, my problem is that the video is inaccurate in so many aspects. The whole story about the relationship between Ferrari and Fiat shows no knowledge of the business. Ferrari wanted to get out of FCA because they decided 'they were done with it' is a joke. FCA owned 90% of Ferrari. Sergio Marchionne is both the chairman of Ferrari and chief executive of FCA. The journalist is not comparing the car with its main competitors. I am just listening again his rant about the trunk size, which is the same size as the BMW M3...what the hell? As for the comfort, most people who actually drove this car without prejudice will tell you one of the key strengths of the car is its comfort even on hard suspension mode.
@michelcoulon39237 жыл бұрын
When he says it is the last Alfa designed in cooperation with Ferrari, it is also not accurate. Ferrari helped build the whole platform that will also be used for the Stelvio and key new cars for the next 10 years. The number of non accurate statements in this videos is stunning...
@savagegeese7 жыл бұрын
You are cherry picking plenty out of the video. They spun Ferrari off to make that division money. FCA is separated from Ferrari, period. Whether or not they share resources depends on how that spin off is structured. And yes the architecture will be re-used and the Stelvio will be a clone but going forward they will be farther from this car. Lastly The Alfa is a mid sized car, the trunk space in the Alfa is 12 Cubic Feet. BMW M2 has 14. Honda Accord has 15.8 Honda Civic 15.1. Its small no matter how you look at it.

I love the absolute no frills no bs reviews this guy gives. He’s not trying to broaden his viewer range as much as he’s trying to provide a clear concise informative review. This is better than 99.9% of car reviewers out there. And his response about the interior is exactly how I thought when I first looked at these cars. I thought to myself, if that was without badges, I’d think it’s a Mazda.

You actually showed us the mechanicals of the car -- Thank you!!! This is the best review of all. Great research on your part, too. Thanks for providing the informed review of the components that matter, along with the test drive and critiques. So far I've driven the Ti Q4 with sport package. That's a shockingly great fun/$ value, with what looks like much of the underpinnings of the Quadrifoglio (but minus lots too, such as the QF's dual exhaust and subframe aero shielding) I hope you can review that less expensive model too, and crank it up on the lift to see how many components it shares with its 2x more expensive big brother. One question on the QF's underbody stuff -- Forward of the rear wheels, it all looks like some sort of compressed jute or such. Is that actually just a fabric material as it looks like? If so, that wouldn't last even a whole year in New England weather!

Great review. Superb detail. Crazy video res. What was this shot on? History lesson re: Alfa Romeo & Ferrari. 1. Enzo was a test driver for Alfa. He then became a privateer, then a modifier. Then he decided to build his own marque. So, Alfa is the Don and Ferrari is just the bambino! 2. Check out the first Alfa Giulia: 5 speed, fully independent suspension, all round disc brakes etc etc when the contemporaneous Ferrari had none of these features. And who designed the Giulia Coupe at Bertone? A young Italian kid fresh out of military service by the name of Giugiaro. Of course the last 40years have been patchy 😁 but here’s to the next 60 years being as glorious as the first 60!

To answer your question, the "A" driving mode of Alfa's "DNA" is designed mainly for heavy traffic or when the driver simply want to extend their driving range for various reasons. Since most of the population live in or near metropolitan cities, it's quite easy to encounter heavy traffic.

I’ve always had cars with what would be called regular OEM brakes. Yeah I’ve put slotted and drilled rotors and better pads and I always thought they were pretty good. Then I got a 2005 Cadillac STS4 with JE5 brake package and I thought wow! These are great brakes and I did the same thing with pads and rotors as I did before. Then I bought a Cadillac ATS with brembo’s and I was surprised how sensitive they are and it actually took me while to get used to them. They are just 4 piston brembos up front and single piston floating caliper in the rear. Best brakes I’ve ever used! I haven’t done anything to them and I don’t know if I will. I may upgrade the rear brakes to 4 piston brembos off ats V

There would be no Ferrari without Alfa Romeo, Enzo Ferrari was the race team boss for Alfa prior to founding Farrari and he only did that because Alfa withdrew from racing. Many Alfa engines were designed by Alfa and Farrari engineers as they used to swap between companies a good example is Giuseppe Busso who worked for both Alfa and Farrari and developed the beautiful Alfa Romeo V6 engine also known as the Busso V6.
