Hats off to Hyundai for coming so far! 8 years ago Hyundai was really behind the competition but these days they look ten times better and seem to have grabbed America's attention 👏🏼👍🏼

Hyundai should’ve sold the i30N in the U.S as the Elantra GT Sport, that would justify calling this a hot hatch.

Definitely a great option for someone looking for a nice sporty hatchback and wants to stay under a radar. I'd say Civic Si is definitely a compelling rival, but no hatchback model for Si would probably steer me to Elantra GT Sport.
@modmatt16 жыл бұрын
Great points on the lack of package and/or options with the manual. Very frustrating from my standpoint - I had to settle for a Mazda6 Touring with the same as Hyundai of no package offerings (no roof, upgraded stereo or real leather), which I was willing to pay extra for. My perfect version of this car would be to have the manual with a tech package minus the extra safety electronics i.e. lane keep, blm, collision mitigation etc.. A good set of blind spot mirrors and paying attention is all I need there.

Hey Matt great video! Big fan of the channel! I personally have a GT Sport but mine is the 6MT. The manual is certainly better than the 7spd DCT in my opinion. Nice, easy, sporty clutch but can be a bit mushy at times. The exhaust is pretty interesting, but like you said, could be louder. The noises that this little thing is surprising nonetheless, especially when you hit a perfect rev match. I love my GT sport! I have so much fun with it when I want to but when I need it to be sensible, it does the job as well!

What kind of hwy mpg do you get?
@jacobcouto81526 жыл бұрын
@@daltonbeane5914 Hey Dalton good question! Combined MPG is about 29 or 30. I drive pretty aggressively with a good mix of highway and city. Highway I can sneak up to 31 MPG cruising at 80 or so. City is weaker with the manual gearbox, 23 MPG.
@daltonbeane59146 жыл бұрын
Jacob Couto Perfect! I was looking at getting one but I wouldn’t accept anything less than 30MPG Highway. City mpg doesn’t bother me much as k be driving aggressively anyways. I currently have a 2010 Accent with the 1.6L I average 31-33 hwy with that.

This is more of a civic sport hatch/Mazda 3 2.5 competitor. Sadly we don't get the "N" version for this here. Only the veloster n.
@IReahpZz6 жыл бұрын
FlyinGato si seems to have all this tech but gets beat in auto cross by a substantial margin even with all of that. It's only a slight bit slower manual to manual, and the dct is much much faster. You cNt get an si in a hatch so that's an advantage here. The elantra sport sedan is going for 18-19k all day long and for that money, you can't compare a 25k+ si.
@IReahpZz6 жыл бұрын
Wesley Green does that really matter when you save 7k out the door? All cars depreciate and you are going to lose value the second you drive off the lot anyways lmao
@palebeachbum6 жыл бұрын
This seems like a really nice compact hatch. It doesn't give me a "hot hatch" vibe though. Seems more like an upscale compact hatch. More like the nicer hatchbacks offered in European markets. Dare I call this Elantra GT desirable? I really like it.
@blackridge14916 жыл бұрын
I've noticed many great, thorough reviewers like yourself also skip the following, and it would be awesome to have some of these things included for future videos: -Fold the rear seats down and remove the cargo cover to show how flat the seat backs and load floor are together, along with the overall size from the back. -Does the rear gate lift automatically with the key Fob button? Does it close? -Standard warranty plays a huge part of value. Subaru, VW, and other hatch makers have absolute garbage warranties compared to Kia/Hyundai. Possibly include that in the talking points about price? Just some suggestions.
@matzusmc4 жыл бұрын
Blackridge Can’t forget about the fact that nobody mentions that you’re actually supposed to use regular unleaded gas rather than premium and you don’t take a performance or MPG hit for that either.

I've already posted & have similar car to the one you're reviewing but I'm here in Australia, and have ultra quiet car with Hankooks 88V 225 x 40 xR18. I don't get the road noise (& we've got a real mix of roads here including a few of the old 'non skid' noisey types). I'm wondering , in that we only ever get snow on the highest peaks in the Southern Great Dividing Range, and no-one gets snow in Aussie towns or cities [most Aussies never see snow], whether my Hankooks are NOT "all season' & hence, much quieter. I've had some very knowledgeable & pedantic passengers who've commented on the surprising quietness of our MY2018 i30SR DCT Turbo Premium (Elantra GT).
@letsseeif6 жыл бұрын
An okay but slightly repetitive review. I've got an Australian one (1.6petrol DCT i30SR Premium 201hp) with red safety belts, but 309 tuning variations done due our roads (Australia is same size as USA Lower 48, but with one sixteenth population) which go from freeway/tollway to country rural then red gravel often corregated & commonly trucks double & up to ultra long 'road-trains' with NO speed limits in the Northern territory & so high speed gigantics are a real test. We also have the i30N performance car and Elantra has always sold here as the sedan eg Turbo Elantra. My take. A great car, compact for city parking, but a 'scalded cat' on open roads. Very quiet with windows up. Handles extremely well as though it's glued on! 'Gotta love it'.
@logicalnerd15176 жыл бұрын
My friends Hyundai Elantra is only a couple years old and a major problem they have with theirs is in winter the windows get frosted up on the INSIDE. Couldn't believe it until I saw it myself. Otherwise it's a nice car but for that reason alone I wouldn't get one.

They drive completely different, just depends what you want. BRZ is RWD, lower weight, lower seating position, tighter handling and a much smaller feeling car. Elantra GT Sport is FWD, higher seating position, less sharp, more comfortable, more practical and easier to drive, but less fun and less dramatic with a lower redline, but lots of torque in the lower rpms that the BRZ doesn’t have.

ATG3192 I don’t think pictures/videos do this car justice in any way. I just bought one and that’s one area I thought I might not be completely happy with, but it looks so much better in person.
