Benu was the second fountain pen that I had, when I started my fountain pen hobby. This pen gives me Jungle Book vibes. 😅 OH! I have two Benu Parrot pens, and I love them so much. They are so darn cute! My daughter has three Parrots, so between us, we have a flock.

That is certainly a cute pen. It looks like it could be a prop from an old tv show, like Goosebumps. Or a high-quality reproduction of a kid's arts & crafts project. Oo, or maybe something you'd get at a school book fair. I especially love the letters put on there in that playful way. I think, of your giveaways I've entered, this pen is the one I'd be most happy winning. The green is way cooler than the black though; it's so whimsical, & there's such detail & colour variation in the closeups

Thanks for another thorough - but - concise review, David! I love Schmidt nibs, too - all the ones on my Benu pens have been smooth right out of the box. The design of the Viper is interesting-the snakes look like they’re nicely rendered … and those letters! (Wow, I didn’t see that coming lol).

I just started my pen journey this year. So far I only have a couple of Jinhao. However with my newbieness I find them enjoyable. Patience will be my virtue... lol earning funding for higher quality pens 😊

Jinhao is great. Asvine, Fuliwen, Majohn (formerly Moonman), and PenBBS are also good brands for relatively cheap pens. Don't feel like you _have_ to spend the big bucks to be in the hobby. More cost won't always equate to more enjoyment. Collecting more cheap pens also lets you try out different nib styles & body designs, so you'll know what to look for when you _do_ go for an expensive one
