Do you dream about CGA composite on your HDMI screen or your VGA CRT monitor? - Then you need to watch this video.
The MCE2HDMI convert CGA, EGA, Hercules, MDA and Composite CGA to HDMI and VGA

Just got one too - it's extremely nice! Love the nice on-screen menus, for example. I'm using it for the VDC-chip's output of the Commodore 128. On C128 this unit even makes it possible to see all the extreme screenmodes, that your CRT would probably not support natively, which is very cool! (Those from "VDC Mode Mania" for example) My greatest wish for this unit, is for the RGB2HDMI-project to some day support output on the composite port as well (it does have a composite-out port). Currently i'm using a cheap HDMI2AV adapter, so that i can connect it to my CRT TV, but these adapters always converts the HDMI-signal into interlace, so the image flickers a bit (but otherwise works well). So for me, it would be absolutely awesome to be able to get progressive output from the Raspberry PI's composite-output port (and maybe switch to interlace if the input-screenmode is high enough). It seems to almost work, but the unit keeps restarting when using composite. Anyway, that is my greatest wish for this awesome unit :)

Thanks! I have 3 "flat" C128s and only 1 CRT monitor capable of their 80-column output... meanwhile I have 2 VGA monitors sitting spare in a box in my climate-controlled storage unit across town. This looks to be the easiest / best solution available to me. One question, though, I have and use "IPaint" for the C128 which requires a C128 to have 64K VDC dram because it utilizes *all* of the C128's interlaced scanlines for 640x400 graphical output. Will this render my IPaint images nicely as well?

@@LordHasenpfeffer i don't see why not - 640x400i is a pretty standard mode, compared to the crazy ones in "VDC Mode Mania", for example. (I haven't tried IPaint, tho)

@@zaitarh Well, we'll know soon for sure because based on your enthusiasm which is based on your experience, I ordered one with the VGA dongle option. I'm not familiar with "VDC Mode Mania" (yet?) as I am only now resurrecting my 4 Commodore / CMD systems after keeping them safely sequestered in climate-controlled storage since 1999. My concern about IPaint is I've already experienced issues with it in VICE as - apparently - one of the pairs of scanlines is about a half-cell above where it's supposed to be - causing the pencil tool to draw 2 lines instead of 1 as well as causing one-half of every IPaint image to appear in the wrong place onscreen - thus rendering completely useless results every time.

Hello. I have an old wheel balancer machine. The output is a D-sub 9 pin connector to an old CRT monitor with input RGB + i TTL level. The D-sub 9 pinout is: 1 (ground) 2 (NC) 3 (Red) 4 (Green) 5 (Blue) 6 (intensity) 7 (NC) 8 (H-sync) 9 (V-sync). I need to replace this old CRT monitor with a LCD monitor (VGA-15 pin) connector. Do you think this MCE2HDMI converter is the right one for my needs? Thank you.

The pinout you are describing is the same as CGA. And If you know the signal is RGB + TTL, i see no reason why this should not work. I would go for it.

Probable the older one he used to sell. The MCE2HDMI is great together with the EuroPC. And soon you will se the PicoMEM with the EuroPC - great times.

Huh, I have an MCE2VGA, and despite outputting green for a black background, it did offer CGA simulated composite colour.

It's not pcjr screens, but composite CGA, or maybe you are talking about Plantroics mode.
