I appreciate your series on the B1B. Each episode helped reduce the intimidation factor this kit presents to me - I've put this kit off all year. Until I saw your series, I didn't really appreciate the size of this monster! Thanks for your channel.

@PlasticModelBuilder5 жыл бұрын
The phantom is hard just because if it's design and how to paint
@KHModelWorks5 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the intake design on that kit is unusual, and you need to pre-paint the forward fuselage since some of it is obscured by the intake splitters. Then metal area around the exhaust is hard to mask and paint. Then trying to make all the clear parts fit is a real challenge. 🤦🏼♂️

I cannot find a video showing the comparison between 1/48 XB-70 Valkyrie with and 1/48 B-1b Lancer.
@PlasticModelBuilder Жыл бұрын
The Valkyrie would be about 10.09 inches longer with a wingspan about 6" longer, unless the B-1b has its wings open. In that case the wings would be 8" longer. The height would be about 3/4" taller for the B-1b.

I built one of these back in the 90's and had a wicked step at the front seam. The one I'm finishing up now I had learned from my past mistakes. I have managed to build this one without filler save one sink mark on each side of each nacelle. (This was caused by an alignment pin on the inside of the part.) I did have to resort to 80 grit to start smoothing the seams though. I did mine in the strategic scheme so I didn't have to replace the engine nozzles. (That and I like the colors over the gunship grey of the later planes.) The only concession I made toward accuracy was sanding off the bumps on the back of the nacelles. (They were only present on the B-1A.) I didn't bother adding the vortex generators on the tail nor the extra four pitot tubes on the nose. I have photos before paint here. imodeler.com/2019/10/revell-1-48-b-1b/ Final product should show up next week on the site. BTW, it looks like they got rid of the heavy tint on the clear plastic on your kit. I didn't mind it on the cockpit glazing but it made the landing lights look horrible. I used thick CA to make my large lenses and just lived with the tinted small light. Your build presents very nicely. Looks like your joints are also nice and smooth!
@PlasticModelBuilder5 жыл бұрын
I took my time with the joints for a change. Still a tough aircraft. I had better luck with line up although still a bit hard. Thanks for watching my build.
