You mentioned you use white to make greys, but it's possible to mix greys by using complementary colors. Blue and orange, yellow and purple, red and green all mix to create different greys with different warmth or coolness.

princerikthethird yes! It’s why I don’t really buy black paint, I did get some recently because I wanted the depth I couldn’t get. But it’s really easy to mix with brown and blue and a nice brown/grey can be made with red and a really deep blue.

You can mix the rust red and Prussian blue to get Payne's grey or you can add more water to the black (also mixing Prussian blue and amaranth creates the most beautiful purple). I was quite upset that there was no white when I got mine but the more I used it the more I felt I didn't need it. I think they only give white with their tube sets.

I just ordered this I was thinking about removing a pan and replacing it with white gouache so the white isn’t an issue. I also got the 3 pack water color journal so I’m a little giddy, it will take about four days to get to me.

I was thinking about getting both of those

@@neenerton I wouldn't recommend the watercolors or the journals to be honest, the watercolors have this odd quality with the pigments and I didn't really enjoy them (the color choice was also a bit strange) but it was a very good set for my first travel palette. The paper dulled my colors and made everything look fuzzy, I have a pual rubens water color sketchbook that I love and the watercolors I use are the kuretake gansai tambi. Both of which are actually quite affordable and of much better quality. However, you could look into different papers since I have seen mixed reviews on the journal I bought.

@@boyinblue. Aw man, that sucks because I was really looking forward to these. Did the journal work well with other mediums that you have tried? Thank you for letting me know because I would have hated to order these and end up not liking them.

@@neenerton the journals are pretty good when it comes to dry media, I used them as a sketchbook with my graphite pencils all the time and it works great but it holds up amazingly well with watercolors but the paper doesn't do good if you do a lot of erasing. And no problem, I know I hate getting new things and being disappointed in the quality.

@@boyinblue. Well thank you, I will look at other reviews and I will also look at the supplies you mentioned. Have a nice day or evening :>)

Can you do a review on the bigger version of the set? 36 colors for 35€ (I just looked it up and it doesn't have a white either lol)
@Saviroosje26 жыл бұрын
No I saw it! I expected the bigger one to have a white.... but no. Really a bummer for such a great set!

White isn't a real watercolor color, because white makes the color opaque and the deal with watercolor is the translucent colors. When using watercolor the white of the paper is your white, if you want your colors to look lighter just add more water. Most good watercolor sets don't have a white because of this and is a good thing.

Whaat, most of artists i know NEVER use white lmao. I am always like “why does white watercolor exists”
@Saviroosje26 жыл бұрын
I use it for mixing and everything, it is my most used one haha. I just released that when I noticed that there wasn't a white. But you cannot really use the white in my set on its own? I mean it is not very opaque, but it works well for mixing colors to make them lighter.
@saeenon17246 жыл бұрын
you can do a color lighter by adding water, i do that. (Ps: I enjoy watching this kind of videos on your channel

Really cute ♡ Btw I actually like that there is no white in this set because it is no watercolor, because it makes the color opaque.. If you want to lighten up your colors just mix some water into it ^^ Sending some love from Canada ❤

white watercolor is not only useless, it adds opaqueness to your paints which is why no one likes it lol
@Saviroosje25 жыл бұрын
I use it to make pastel colors! Because adding water wont make them pastel. And I also use it for skintones. But that is just a personal preference.
