I haven’t actually played the game, but the developers, WayForward and Limited Run Games, did an amazing job with the remaster, adding both old mechanics from the OG SNES game and new mechanics including the Rewind mode. And everything in the extras were without a doubt spot-on. 1. The motion comic featuring voice acting, including ones by Gab Smolders and Suzi Hunter, aka The Sphere Hunter. 2. The interview with the game’s creator, Hifumi Kono, conducted by Celina, the Pro Horror Gamer. 3. The intro and outro theme songs by Mary-Elizabeth McGlynn and Emi Evans. …and so forth and so on. With that being said, thank you all for your hard work in making this remastered version of the original Clock Tower game and on bringing the franchise back from obscurity, and I wish I could experience the series for the first time! Well done! I hope to see what you will do next in the future for both the Clock Tower series AND the other original cult classics. Cheers and much Love!

I bought the game and plan on playing it tonight. I always read about it but never had the chance to play it. I like the fact that it blends the point and click style with survival horror. The only downside to it is the short playtime, but that was the norm for most games from that time. Other than that I m more than happy to add a cult classic to my collection.

I've been wanting to try this one. I knew of the PS1 version so when I heard about this one I was hoping it would get a bit of love and am happy to see it. I may end up pre-ordering it if I can.

I have the game and like it, but I think there are some glaring issues that you looked over. There's some pretty bad slowdown and even in your own gameplay footage you can see some graphical glitches. I feel like this needed another coat of polish before heading out the door.

Hello! What you mentioned is correct, and the slow-down & frame cutting are legacy issues found even in the original SFC release. What this release sought out to do is present the game as it originally was, in addition to the extras around it, so legacy issues such as which you mentioned were issues we felt were not fair to be factored into this review in particular. We may focus on these aspect at a later point, like in a retrospective format.

@thefirstfear Fair enough! Even though I knew it wasn't a Nightdive-style remake, I guess I assumed this would still be the "definitive" version of Clock Tower. I knew the original version would be included, but had hoped the Rewind version would be more than the SFC ROM running in the carbon engine (plus a few tweaks.) The QoL improvements are nice, but I have to admit - while I appreciate Wayforward/Limited Run giving us an official English Clock Tower for the first time, there's very little here to convince the average buyer to pick this up over the "other methods" people were using to play the game beforehand. In my personal opinion, of course. On another note, you know CT better than anyone else so I'll take the word. It feels like slowdown and graphical issues pop-up more than if you were to play the original cart. Am I imagining this?

Got this game on Halloween 2024 on the (Japanese) eShop while it's also on Sale. Been playing it a lot of times now. So far, I've got Ending S, C, D, E, G and H. Also unlocked the complete Motion Comics😆
