The Digi-Fusion line is a line of roughly 4-5" figures that are half figure, half buildable kit. It's not a straight up model kit, but it's a snap together figure similar to the kind of joint system LEGO Hero Factory uses, just implanted into an action figure. Each figure retails for $8.99 and includes one Digi-Card of the character you're buying. The whole point of this line is to have fun and be creative! You can follow the rules and create Shoutmon X3, Shoutmon X4, and Metal Greymon, or you can go wild and create your own Digimon! It's worth noting that with only five figures released, your possibilities are rather limited, but nearly every pieces is compatible with each other, so there's nothing stopping you from making a Shoutmon with Ballistamon as a head and Greymon arms. I personally think the most fun is adding pieces to Shoutmon X3 or X4 to see what alternate combinations you could make. I'm really fond of the create at the end of this video. As standalone toys they're not that great, and if you're not going to collect them all, the future "action feature" line is probably more along what you need. However if you're going all in, and really love building toys, then you'll probably really enjoy these. While Shoutmon X4 is pretty neat, Metal Greymon is unfortunately lacking and the engineering just really hinders the end result. While they're not great pick ups, Greymon and Mail Birdramon do give you some really cool pieces to use on the other figures, so they're not that bad on that merit. Overall, this is a really fun line geared towards kids and lovers of building toys. If you have a wild imagination, it's fun to see what you can come up with, even with the limited amount of pieces. I can't wait to see what other Digimon get released, and what whacky combinations they will result in. They fill a very specific role and they fill it well.

I wasn't too sure about this line when I first saw them, but then I saw them here and WHOA I NEED THESE IN MY LIFE. That X4 looks WAY better than the Japanese version & it holds a lot more articulation. MetalGreymon needed that armor piece to clip around Greymon's body instead of pluging it into Greymon's neck hole & it would look way better.

Yeah they should of pegged tthe armor so it could snap together for Mailbirdra, and Peg into Greymon for Metalgreymon. Sadly the route they went makes Metalgreymon look sub par- its 1/1 basically one point BoA for X4, 1 point BoJ for MetalGreymon. Guess we'll have to wait for Wave 2 to see which side wins. Deckerdramon should help make Metalgreymon less odd. The large tank boots and the cannon arm will help balance him out. There is also a chance they could change things up in wave 2- Its rare but we've seen slight figure differences between two waves before, withing Bandai even. Off the top of my head the Thundercats line comes to mind. Lion-O had I think 2-3 figure releases where the only difference was his Claw armor. And Panthro got 2 releases one with normal arms- 1st quarter or so, 1 with Robot arms- 2nd quarter on. Another example of 2 versions of 1 toy would be during Operation Overdrive, we got 2 releases of the combination using 6-10.Each version had its own advantages. One set had better looking Mixer and crane- think it was crane, wile the other had the jet. Not sure if the one with the jet also had a better drill/shovel but i know that there were 2 versions of Crane/Mixer which basically gave people a reason to buy both to get a better looking 2nd megazord/Ultrazord. So here's hoping that Wave 2 might have better versions of the metalgreymon pair.

this really makes me glad I have the Japanese Xros Figure Series, and makes me wonder why they didn't import those molds, as they're quite small on their own, and additionally, they're accurate when separated and when combined, and the combination cleanly mimics the scenes from the show

I agree with you but unlike the different devices, the figures fill different roles. The American products seems to be bulkier and less accurate because they are probably design with posability and playability first. As pretty and accurate the Japanese X4 is, you can't exactly pose it as much as you want.

What I mainly don't like about Shoutmon X4 is that you can almost make the entire thing without Shoutmon, which is really sad. I would've liked to see him come with his microphone instead of the StarSword, and the head of Shoutmon X4 ( or X3 in this case ) could've been the top piece of the microphone ( which I believe that is where it originally came from ) rather than slapping it to Dorulumon just because it camouflages. I think it's more creative as a piece of the microphone and it would make Shoutmon a required figure to buy to make the whole fusion. Damn you, Bandai.

Awesome review. I'm glad to see you don't hate the line and bashing on it. I like these way better then the Japanese version. Shoutmon x4 is Amazing! I would like to try making Omnimon like arms with Greymon/MetalGreymon head and Dorulumon head for arms!

The action feature figs that we KNOW of are X4-sword swinging action, and Metalgreymon- with missile shooting action. As for the figure pricing, at 9 a figure thats 45 for the full wave+tax where aplicable. This is actually a good thing when you compare to the JPN price point of I belive it was somewhere around 2500 JPY which works out to roughly 25-30 USD- depending on the rate of exchange. So price wise 45 for 5 or 125-150 for five. So when you consider the fact that There is MORE playability- the Xros Figure series was pretty limited to show combinations X3-X5(and X5B being the final for shout and friends) Metalgrey, Cybelauncher, and Deckergrey. And then the 3 others. So considering they had 12 figures at say 20-30 usd each- since i can't remember the actual price point and by now they've gone up due to them no longer being in production. So yeah IF we get AT LEAST 12 figs- one was a set in japan, one probably won't be released based on the looks of Metalgreymon's combination. thats 5x12 or 70 vs 12x20-30. Yeah Take price into account they look pretty awesome and X4 like i said earlier seems to be better.

Considering the Dorulumon and Ballistamon figures have pegs and balls to spare, there's a good chance for a Beelzemon, Sparrowmon, OmegaShoutmon, and ZekeGreymon figures to add to the combination.

Shuki I think you are wrong. The white bit molded on to the torso under balistamon's head makes a fine shoutmon x2 head if you just add the crest and move balistamon's head to the chest

Correct, though given how Dorulumon splits you could probably make something up. Alternatively I've seen a X2 who's only glaring flaw was that the head wasn't there. Slightly disappointed in that at least, since it only would have needed one more piece that could have sat on Ballistamon's back or something.

Oh and 3rd post i forgot about the normal action figures which we've seen since At least S3 i believe- I can't recall if Season 2 had any i know they had the "armor digivolving" digi eggs, and the DNA digivolving sets, but I can't recall any normal figures off the top of my head. S3 had the repackaged D-Real figures. My friend has a BoA release of Cyberdramon.

The shoutmon combinations at least have the benefit of looking decent. too bad Metalgreymon doesn't get the same treatment. Oh well, at least there are the Xros Wars toys in case you something else besides a pile of ball-jointed parts stuck together.

They're not even close. These are ball and socket, Zordbuilder are pegs. These MIGHT be compatible with some of the Lego ball and socket joints though. I don't have any around to compare.

well looks like Shoutmon and friends won this time and Team blue flare took a it. If i Had to compare with what I've seen of the Japanese molds I'd say that Shoutmon is better than his BoJ counterpart, And the amount of articulation that X4 appears to have I believe outshines BoJ X4. However obviously the same can't be said for MetalGreymon . How hard would it of been to Do something like Shout's V crest for the armor pieces. I mean Pop off a portion of Greymon's chest to reveal a Socket- or just put a peg hole in his chest, Split Mailbirdra's body in two and snap the pieces on to pegs giving im the chest armor. I mean he looks OK, but X4 just looks way more accurate. Heck looks like MetalGreymon can't use its Leg cannons. Well here's hoping that Cyberdra- if we get him, and Deckedra will allow for some better combinations. Wait.... Thats why Metalgrey is off balanced they must of made him with Deckerdra in mind. Those HUGE tank shoes that he gets would definitely help him stand. Deckerdra's tail/head cannon combination= Better arm next to the Metalgrey arm. Yeah we'll have to wait for wave 2 or 3 i guess. I'm saying it now as far as a Digifuse figure is concerned- unless they do a greymon/Mailbirdramon V2, We won't be seeing a Cyberdra figure. The chest lacks a Socket fo connect the cyberlauncher. So either it will simply stand byitself infront of him or not be released.
