Stagg EKG looks and works very good but, I've found the knob will become unresponsive and difficult to rotate with use. I've tried using dental floss to clean under the knobs with no improvement.
@icowrich3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, but I don't find that I've had to interact with the knob very often at all. I keep the temp at 200º F all of the time for my pour over coffees and never change it. I suppose that would change if I wanted to make some tea or switched up my beans to a darker or lighter roast.

Absolutely. Just because the kettle says 95C doesn't mean it's actually 95C. Knowing how far it overshoots when reaching the set temperature seems critical to me when judging an electric kettle that claims to reach a chosen temperature.

Own both kettles, and I prefer Brewista since I have more control over pouring 🥰
@SuperPimpek1234 жыл бұрын
I use to own a stovetop stagg, and now electric brewista artisan. Flow range on the stagg is something that really bothered me, I much prefer artisan’s pour. 600ml capacity is a little small for larger brews, but perfect for smaller ones. Temperature control could be improved; it always overshoots by a few degrees.

The dealbreaker for me is changing temperatures from the coffee range down to 180 for oolong’s, and 130 for Japanese gyokuro tea. In fact this is why I’m shopping for a new teapot now (the one I have has a single dial for changing the temperature.. I am confirming it gets really really old). In the past I’ve had Bonavita water kettles where you can quickly go to a preset, and then change the temperature to whatever you want from there. If you need to change temperatures this feature is light years better. I didn’t buy another Bonavita kettle, because I’m tired of the cheap looking base (although the electronics is good, I’ve never had one break over many years, sometimes they will lose electric connection and then you unplug it in mess with it and it works again). And I normally am a minimalist, but I don’t like the reduced flow rate of the stag gooseneck either.

Fun fact, for those that find the STAGG pours just a bit too slow, If you look inside there is a little metal piece with holes covering the hole at the bottom of the spout, which further restricts flow. With a mallet and a flat sharp chisel or screwdriver it can be removed easily. It now pours SMOOTHER and just a bit Faster.
@djispro427224 күн бұрын
But can you put it back if you don’t like it?
@Wyrdrock24 күн бұрын
@@djispro4272 no, but honestly the change is so small and so beneficial I cannot see why anyone would want to. It's a noticeably smoother stream overall as opposed to dramatically faster. I would say it's about 10% faster and about 25% smoother

Two other criteria for me: - how long will it last or be guaranteed? I’m on my third Brewista - how easy is it for someone else to use when you are not there. EG: can they just fill and hit one obvious button? PS: it looks like the Brewista handle has changed. My model has a nice feel and a wide part at the end that fits nicely into the butt of your palm that allows easy one handed control.

Anyway the main question is: Could I keep kettle empty when I'm not using it? I know I can descale it if anything will build in. But if I want keep my kettle in good running condition should I: a. Leave water and when is something build up just descale it? b. After brewing poor out rest of water c. Wait when kettle will be cold enough and poor out rest of water? Just got this kettle and i can't be the only one with this issue. I found what seemed to be a serious flaw with the kettle: you can set it to max temp of 100⁰c but it NEVER reaches the desired temperature and then keeps attempting to boil to 100⁰c! Obvious way around this is to set to 99⁰c, but why have a max temp if it can't ever reach it? It then keeps trying to boil continously and this can't be good for the kettle surely...

Did they add that Germany sticker themselves? That looks like it has a print defect (the white stripe?). It looks really ugly to me. The price for the kettles for me is really steep. My Brewista Artisan Kettle’s base was burned due to a friend’s mistake, and all I need is a replacement part. However, Brewista refuses to provide either the part or a paid repair service, expecting me to throw away a perfectly working product. Hey, I was wondering, the Fellow Stagg is available on Amazon for a 120 V voltage (that is, US voltage). Did you use any voltage converter to be able to use it on an European outlet?
@sunjinvanloon84924 жыл бұрын
Part of the appeal of the gooseneck design is that it restricts water flow and makes it easier for you to get a consistent flow for the pour over. I don’t think the Brewista has “better” control, it simply looked like it output more water and was more sensitive to the angle of pour, potentially a bad thing.
