Thanks Reynold, As Susan pointed out, she's recently gotten onto me for that also. I have been doing a practice I picked up from "The Online Piano and Violin Tutor" (also here on KZbin), about using a pen or pencil to practice the proper grip and all when you aren't able to practice, which I've been utilizing while at work. I did take a fairly long hiatus from it all, but we are getting back into the full swing of it, and I will have out a rather humorous and interesting video next month.

Thinking of getting the Soloist..what are your thoughts of having the Wittmer finetune pegs installed? Pros and cons please if possible. Thank you!
@naru_wb-_-112625 күн бұрын
Pros easier to tune and stuff cons makes the violin sound slightly worse since there’s more weight on the top plate if your experienced on tuning use on 1 fine tuner for the e string

In total, how much was it all? Also it looks like you purchased the Fiddlerman Master Violin since the back looks like a one piece back rather than a two piece back.
@jessie_icxc6 жыл бұрын
DarkEvilPoet In the description you will find a link to each item, and can add it all up there. I'd ballpark it at, or around, $2,000 total. It's definitely a soloist, not a master; serial number and tag inside all verifies it. 😉 At the time when I bought it, it was one solid back. They may have changed it since. They compared it in a video against a Scott Cao STV 850, which was a two piece back, and I preferred the soloist instead. 😊
@threesidedtriangle17986 жыл бұрын
Each violin is different, even now maybe you can find a Soloist with a 1 piece back, maybe not. I don't think the Soloist changed within a year, I know it used to be made in the GCV workshop, but that was a few years ago.

The rest when it came with the violin but I might be wrong because I'm looking at the master and it's the same rest so I don't know but you definitely made the right choice by getting to bows I actually did the same thing and it is just going to make it easier especially if you had a mishap and you have to sit there and get the bow restrung because you have already have a backup bow The Soloist is very nice me as a beginner I don't think I need to be up in that range yet but the master from beginner to intermediate that will last me 10 years or more because I'm not going to be out playing for people strictly doing it so I can enjoy the music I love to hear and play cheers

I'm not sure, unless it has to do with where they are sourcing the wood for perhaps. Personally im really glad I was able to get a single backed version, as I do prefer that. 🙂

lol nah, I legit suck - but my instrument is pretty sweet. I keep trying to find time to practice, and may for a week, and then life comes and knocks me out again. *sigh* Honestly, the Star Wars theme took me about a week or two of steady practicing to get it recognizable. Its one of the few things that I will forever retain the muscle memory for, and I play it at the beginning of every practice session I do as a warm-up now. Fiddlerman's site has the sheet music here: fiddlerman.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Star-Wars-Theme.pdf You can also find a LOT of other pieces for free there as well. :)

Great video :D is it me or does the violin look way more red on the website? i've seen a few review videos and the instruments has a different colour in every one. And they only make the soloist with a 2 piece back now i believe, so youre kinda lucky :D I know it doesnt make a difference sound wise but it looks more pretty i think
@jessie_icxc6 жыл бұрын
thisisLawte, From what I understand, even though these are "mass produced", they are all still individually unique given that they are made of wood that in and of itself is gonna be unique per each piece, plus the aging and treating of it etc. so there are bound to be slight color differences as well as grain pattern uniqueness. :) I agree, I'm absolutely in love with the single piece back; I had heard that they went to a two-piece and I'm even more glad I got this one when I did, as it adds to its uniqueness. It's a wonderful instrument, and I hope to one day make it play as beautifully as it's able. (I am the only thing that needs work now. Lol) Glad you enjoyed the review. :)

Well, if I was you, I wouldn't spend so much for a violin if I'm a beginner, you maybe want to quit, who knows. And If I was you again, I would talk to a violinist to help me finding a good violin
@jessie_icxc5 жыл бұрын
I don't remotely wanna quit. I have taken a break, because there's been a lot that has come up since. But I chose to go the route of a high quality instrument because 1: violins do no depreciate in value if taken care of, especially good ones. 2: if the instrument is flawless, then I have only myself to blame and work on, which is fine - I feel it helps me critique myself better and to get better. The wonderful thing about Fiddlershop, Pierre and Mike are both great violinists that know their stuff, and can help you find the right fit for you, whatever your needs. I spoke with them quite a lot as well as researched extensively before I made my purchase. I have 0 regrets about it, and look forward to jumping back in very soon. :)
