Hi, just watched this review as i got one of these razors as an xmas present! Used it new years eve and have to say i thought it was great. A very good, clean and close shave. The only thing is the razor and box came with just the handle and one blade (no replacements). The downside is the cost of replacement blades. My go to was always the gillette sensor blades (2 blade) but again hard to come by these days. Thankfully im building up a nice collection of razors i.e gillete sensor, this gillette lab one, mac3, harrys and off course aldi razor and blades. I just wish the cost of gillette blades was more appealling but as another viewer has said, if you like the razor and the shave it gives, then you will pay the cost for replacement blades! Great video again and happy new year to you and all the best to you and your family for 2023.

Thanks for such great feedback. Yes the replacement blades is where the big pain point is, but apart from this they are great. You should look up how I compare razors to coffee. In short even the expensive blades give good value compared to take out coffee so the cost per shave isn't that bad. And if your like me with head shaving, you also save loads on the hairdresser / barber 🤣

Hi, Geek of Shaves how does the exfoliating bar work for you on your face? Plus I rather have the Heated razor because it has a nice warming bar experience but if you decided to like the new 'exfoliating bar' then the warming bar then it is absolutely your personal choice 😃.
@GeekOfShaves2 жыл бұрын
Hi Conner. The heating bar razor I find the handle is so fat and therefore not great on the hand. I get a lot of comments that say I shave fast, so perhaps I do not then get the full heat experience ? I guess on this one I prefer the cool handle, but at £5 a cartridge (replacements sold in packs of 4 for £20) the standard fussion with the rubber skin stretch is better on the blade front, shame it just does not have such a nice handle and stand. Yeah I the handle and stand I think is really elegant and looks great in the bathroom.

Just bought one last night, I only use it to shave small areas around my beard to touch it up. Will say it works great. The one blade always looks like a cool razor to me. It's nice to hear how you are finding this razor
@kamilm36642 жыл бұрын
I think it's cool that you are doing cartridge razors reviews. Everyone seems to dislike these razors, especially due to the current trend of traditional wet shaving. Sure, shaving the traditional way is an interesting experience. It allows you to commune with history, to shave like our grandparents used to do, but I consider this discrediting of cartridge razors to be greatly exaggerated. That's why I'm glad that people like you can find the good points in this way of shaving. Anyway, great video. Take care and stay safe 🙂
@GeekOfShaves2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Kamil. I think cartridges / disposable (which are often a cartridge plus a disposable handle) make shaving easier and is why they are still the most popular. They are so good though that they remove a lot of the skill (as technology has always done) and so they do not necessarily get the appreciation as those more difficult methods. Bit like calculators / spreadsheets, they make life so simple, are common place, and are therefore taken for granted, but if they were not about most people would struggle a lot more.
@kamilm36642 жыл бұрын
@@GeekOfShaves Definitely. Plus - at least in my case - shaving your neck with these razors is much nicer. Despite my sensitive skin, I don't have any cuts or redness. Besides, I try to shave every morning and unfortunately I don't have much time for it. Shaving gel/foam and cartridge razors allow me to shave quickly and efficiently. Using a brush, soap, safety razor, however, requires more time (this includes cleaning tools). So, shaving with cartridge razors saves you time and gives you a really close shave. Well, anyway thank you so much for your reply 🙂

You’re sort-of correct. I switched to a straightedge for the best shave possible - bar none - and it took a lot of effort to refine the technique. But I also purchased a DE safety razor recently for travel and the results are as good as the straightedge (they just don’t last as long), and there’s no real learning curve: I can shave in the shower quickly and easily with the DE if I’m in a hurry. And replacement blades are 1/20 the cost, or less

Hi Bigmem. They said before launch (I found them) that I could get one, but then they realised I was in the UK (although I said from the start) and retracted. Great video - thanks - Can you rank the best Gillette razors - Pro Fusion power vs non power vs heated vs Exfoliating, Proshield, pro glide etc. Maybe ranked on which gives best shave, and which you would pick and why?
@GeekOfShaves2 жыл бұрын
They have their pros and cons for each. Last place for me would be the heated razor. Purely a cost thing. I like the Exfoliating handle the best, but because it uses the same expensive cartridges being from the Labs range, I would still not use it regular. Of all the ones you have listed, I would most likely stick to the basic Fusion. However if you watch my shave prep reviews, I do not use any Gillette for those. I am at heart a man of simple tastes, and I place value for money as my choice, so that balances cost to performance. What is import though, is I just give you my thoughts, but everyone values things differently and has different priorities. What's important is for you to find the one that works best for you, I just help expand your horizons on the choices available

@@GeekOfShaves Thanks for the response. The heated razor does sound like an unnecessary extravagance.
