I’ve been carrying my Mac 2 3.5 every single day since I got it and am still in love months later. I’ve acid washed the blade, thrown on some custom timascus thumb studs and skiffs. The action is scary lol. It drops shut with the best of them with no blade play in the least. The 20cv takes a screaming sharp edge and holds it very well with just regular stropping. It’s getting ready to be sent out for a nice, deep hollow grind and then having a frag milling pattern done in it before it gets cerakoted od green, fde and black in an avocado color way. John is also a great guy. I’ve had more than a few conversations with him in the mcnees facebook group. Such a humble man and ALWAYS willing to help in any way he can. They are 006 black 70A o-rings. They help with the thumbstud barrels.

I agree. When I handled a 3” a few years ago, I knew it was a grail. Definitely well made and grail worthy and hard EDC use for a folding knife.

I was in the right place at the right time last year and was able to pick one up in the green atomic pattern. Love the knife, in the top 5 of the collection. My McNees is anything but controllable when closing, the blade comes down so fast. Interesting to see the small changes that have happened in the last year, the jimping is more aggressive, lockbar access seems a little bigger and the body screws are not countersunk as much. Great review, love hearing someone else’s opinions on one of my favorite knives.

Thank you! And great hearing about the design changes… even the minor subtle ones. When mine drops, I can catch it on the chili so I don’t worry about a cut nail from the guillotine action of the blade. Is that a change, too, in your opinion?

@@Robs_Nerdy_Knives It could be that the fall action was modified. I remember most of the reviews last year mentioning it and your review being the first that said it was a controlled drop. It was nice watching your review since I would think that these small patch production knives do get small unmentioned updates.

Maybe not prettiest compared to Custom Trevor Burger or Oz Machine Rosie, but I sure like how it looks, feels in hand, and functions so well!

Shame you have to know the right people to be able to get one. It wasn't until I made friends with a guy who knows a guy that I was able to get one. The "drops" aren't real. It's like getting a Hinderer, Koenig, TRM, Pro-Tech, or cerrain Microtech and Heretic models. You have to find connections or pray that one pops up on the secondary (at which point you'll pay $1k for a $500 blade)

LOL. You are really funny! You can easily get one at any Blade Show he attends first. Second, I was able to get one at DLT Trading when they dropped by being super fast and processing the payment super fast. Had I known about Blade Shows, I might have waited for a much better price. I’d avoid the secondary market that hypes it. I still long to buy a Brown Knives Mini-FSD or Cortex, Lamia, etc. you can easily get a TRM if you get on their mailing lists. Koenigs are also available during certain drops at DLT and other places. Rosies are a matter of persistence, too, but tough. FYI… Hinderers are relatively easy to acquire if you look at their site and many retailers.

@@Robs_Nerdy_Knives I've been on email lists for all of them. I tried for years to get the knives I mentioned. It wasn't until I made certain friends that I finally got them. I've had them in cart and clicked "place order" several times only to have the site "crash"

I have been in and remain in the same boat. There are some knives I’ll never get, I’m sure. But some places do have them and that was the only way I was able to buy mine unless I bought them second hand.
