A really good aspect of this single serve unit is that it stores no water. It uses up all the water poured into the reservoir so no stale flavor from leftover H2O contaminates a fresh brew.

This is the K-Mini Plus but i've been curious about the regular K-Mini. There isn't supposed to be much difference between the two, other than the K-Mini Plus having a "Strong" brew option. In looking at Amazon reviews for the regular K-Mini, I've seen quite a few complaints about long-term reliability. Still, I'm intrigued because of the very small size, as it won't take up much space on my countertop. I may roll the dice and buy it despite some of the complaints about reliability/longevity.

the K-Mini Plus coffee maker has removable 9-pod storage, a removable water reservoir, a strong feature, and a premium metallic finish.

I would spend the extra money and get the Mini Plus. I have read and seen other reviews saying how good the strong brew button is to have. The removable water chamber is a major plus, especially for cleaning. Another tip is to use 6 oz. of water and get the best-tasting coffee. More water means watered down coffee or other hot beverage.

Good video. I love Keurig they designed the perfect coffee machine even for a coffee conoceur like me that I like things simple and practical. The hostess in the video has a valid point about recycling the empty pods. Not me but someone found the perfect solution that I now use and save me tons of money. Don't know why Keurig doesn't advertise or defend themselves when there are comments about recycling. There is in the market these reusable pods same size the K-cups, come in packages of 3 you open it to fill it with your favorite coffee close it and place in the machine as a regular K-cup then wash it and ready to be use again. Cheapest place that I found the K cups was at Costco where my favorite dark roast M ground, each K cup cost about $0,38(cents). Using the refillable pods the cost per cup is about $0,08(cents). So Keurig fans you can be green and have an alternative. Thanks for the video I'm buying this little machine for my camper van!!!

My several years old drip style coffee maker finally shut down yesterday . After doing some intensive research, I ended up buying Hamilton Beach Flexbrew single serve which takes both k-cups and ground coffee. Moreover, flexbrew was on sale 40% off at my local WM.

Re used pods, if you remove the foil lid, dump the grounds into compost (worms love it), fill the pod with potting soil and use for starting seeds for your garden.

Other reviews I saw mentioned how loud the brewing cycle was. How does it compare to the larger models please?
@jeffj318 Жыл бұрын
I think loudness depends on each person's sensitivity to sound. The Mini Plus has the advantage over the regular mini because it has a strong brew button and a removable water chamber.

Have you tried it with the "Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable Ground Coffee Filter"--the K-Mini description on Amazon said that the my k-cup reusable filter was compatible with the Mini....just wondering if you had any experience with it. Would cut down on the plastic waste, if it works.

When Tim Horton started coffee K-Cups, the pods where unlike other standard K-Cups, Tim made their K-Cups easy to peel the top though a small tongue sticking out. About ayear ago, it seems Tim changed to Keurig standards which is much harder to peel off (were they forced by Keurig to do it???) .

Erin: Nice to see you're a fellow "Kicking Horse" coffee fan. Which is what we drink with our reusable/refillable plastic pods which are available form Amazon. We like the purple ones where the hinged top is removable and snaps into place. They are good for thousands of uses and will save Keurig users significant dollars while giving you the most diverse choice of coffees on the market!

I bought the red one on sale at Canadian Tire for Christmas and really like it. Tried different pods and found the one I liked the best was the McDonalds McCafe. It was different than the other pods...it was much shorter than the others with hardly any plastic because of the mesh bag on the bottom. Unfortunately the last time I picked these up at Shoppers Drug they were no longer the mesh type they had been replaced by the standard plastic pod which doesn't taste near as good...switching to reusable filter

@jeffj318 Жыл бұрын
Buy the Mini Plus. You will not regret it. Stong brew button, removable water chamber and pod storage. I don't think the pod storage is needed, however, a nice perk if space is limited. The strong brew button really does work and makes your coffee taste so much better.

Erin, I enjoyed your review of the Keurig Mini Plus. I have one myself, and it does a good job of brewing good tasting coffee. My preferred brand of kpods is Green Mountain Breakfast Blend. I can't start my day without having at least two cups each morning. It's my only addiction.
@chris2ferUtoob4 жыл бұрын
There are some brands of Pods that make bio-degradable pods. I think I found some at Trader Joes. The downside is that you have to soften the pod from time to time when the machine complains.

thank you for talking about the environmental concern! It's rarely mentioned and it's a huge issue for me. I've been trying to figure out if any of their reusable pods work with this system (the mini) but in watching another review it seems like it's not a perfect fit? You'd think at this point there'd be a more conscious effort to ensure green coffee brewing by such a big name company.

Lower environmental impact. Recyclable K-Cups® have a lower environmental impact compared to other packing materials like paper, metal, or glass that put out five times the amount of waste and use four times the amount of carbon dioxide, six times the amount of water, and two times the amount of energy.
@Macros19715 жыл бұрын
As always, GREAT review! You're right, there needs to be a way to recycle the pods, since this is a "convenience" based item. It doesn't make sense to be convenient as the cost of our environment! That's like an electric car that can only be powered by electricity that comes from burning coal :(

If you're concerned about pod waste, why did you buy the machine? I wouldn't buy one just for that reason, plus the coffee is pre-ground so you immediately lose much of the flavor from the fresh ground beans. We use a superautomatic espresso maker, dial it up to full volume for a cup of coffee and there is zero waste, other than the coffee bean bag once every 6 weeks or so. Grounds go in the green bin.
