I'm upgrading from a 100r to this exact case! it comes in a few days so excited! What were your temp differences going from the 100r to the lancool 2?
@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
Hello Nick. Unfortunately I didn't take temp measurements in the 100r as I bought it knowing that it was not cooling focused. I mean, it has like 1/4" of insulation all around :) It was definitely silent though, so served its intended purpose and sits under my wife's desk now. The LanCool II Mesh was also part of a larger upgrade and pretty much every heat-generating component has been upgraded since this video. I've certainly had no thermal issues with the case but don't have anything to reasonably compare it to in-house. Lately I've been in and out of the case a LOT and the swing-open-doors have been invaluable. I really love the design of the case and accessibility is a feature that is under-promoted in most reviews of this case IMO.

What I did for that gaping hole at the front panel was tear up some filter from old case fan and stick it in! It's not as elegant as a 3d printed plug but still allows air to get in.
@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
Good idea! The gap definitely shouldn't be a show-stopper if you like the design of the case.
@Tadders3 жыл бұрын
You are correct, there is no such thing as a Lian Li Lancool ll Mesh Performance in white, it's only available in black. I searched high and low for a white one as well, and would have preferred it as it is probably easier to see this inside of the case if it's lighter colored. Also, it probably doesn't show dust as easily, which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.
@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
Bummer that it doesn't exist. I suppose I'm glad I ended up with black given the scarcity of some components. It seems like it would be hard and more expensive to source all white components for a build now-days.
@Tadders3 жыл бұрын
@@LilMikeysBigPlans I had just thought of that, and the thing is that the Performance version has an adjustable fan speed and PWM control slider at the top of the case (as we both know), but it's only on the performance models and not on the 3x120mm non-performance models IIRC. So even if you got a white non performance and put 140mm fans in there, it still wouldn't have the same features the Performance model has. Trust me man, we made the right purchase. We've got the best performing air flow case around, even compared to the more high end models. The only cases that can beat the Lancool ll Mesh Performance are the old Silverstone R02 and RL06, which aren't even in production anymore (one of them is still in production but the design is different). Also, it would be better if the rear exhaust was a 140mm; do you think that's possible to do on that case?
@mrn2343 жыл бұрын
The Mesh on Top makes sense when you are not using the PC and dust falls down ;) You can also add to the 2 140mm Fans in the front a third fan with 120mm

im thinking about getting this case bc of all the great reviews and all but i do have some question. i kinda hate logos haha and try to debadge things as much as possible. do you think the "lian li" in the bottom of the front panel can be removed or covered up easily? and i was hoping to fit the arctic liquid freezer II 360 variant up front in a push pull configuration i wonder if it would fit. or if i should settle for the 260 in the top panel. not sure yet. really good video! super informative, im not building a new pc for at least another year or two until things get back to normal i suppose but its not bad to do some research early on to make better buying decisions later
@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
Hello Aleph, glad you found it useful! The logo appears to be stuck on but it's hard to tell for sure. It is embossed a bit so you won't be able to just cover it with flat paint or a sticker. Might have to get creative to hide it completely. There's a removable panel in the front to support very large radiators. I don't think you'd have any problems with the Liquid Freezer II. Good idea on waiting a bit. CPUs are starting to become more available but GPUs are as rare and expensive as ever :(

@LilMikeysBigPlans2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Avacyn! If you're in a really dusty environment then maybe consider a case designed for filtering. This case is really open and you'd need a lot of filtering in a lot of places. Your best bet would probably be reducing dust. Keep it off the ground and away from carpet. Besides that, maybe get in a blow-out routine.

You're going to put a filter behind the entire front panel? That will be an interesting project. Even the OG Lancool didn't have a full-size front filter. You should post some before/after temp readings. I have not personally had any dust problems but I keep my case up on a table.

Hello Lucas! Thanks for the feedback! There are a few ways to get things printed if you don't have a 3D printer. I would first look for a makerspace or 3D printing company in your area. Where I'm at some libraries and even UPS stores offer 3D printing services. If that doesn't work, a service like shapeways.com or makexyz.com will print and ship but they may be United States only. It looks like 3dhubs.com offers service in Brazil however they went oddly commercial a few years ago so not sure how easy it is to get something from them now.

I am a proud owner of mesh 2 perfomance. Closing the bottom "gap" hole on the front panel, just like Steve from GN suggested is a completly stupid idea. It was ingeneered that way. If you care about dust filting so much - go and buy 3 separate 12x12 or 14x14 dust filters for each front coolers you have. I did that - they cost about 3-4$ each - they are made from metal - just like the top dust filter. they are not hurting an airflow in anyway. end of story - dont do stupid things next time please, nor please suggest like these.

Or should I maybe get another set to have 2 more at base and 2 at top? Also, are the fans that come with this any good, or should I get some new fans? Advice from anyone is welcome and thanks in advance. @LilMikeysBigPlans2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael! You should be able to put the AIO in the front and repurpose the fans. Make sure to check GamersNexus videos on proper radiator installation as if you mount it connectors up you could be pushing air through the loop which will lead to bad temps and shorter pump life. I have no complaints about the fans in the Lancool II Perf. They may not be the quietest on the market but they don't bother me at all. With your AIO, a couple top fans, and a rear fan you're more than ready for just about anything you could fit in the case! Your 5900 and 3070 should be cool as a cucumber.

performance vs rgb version ?
@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that cooling ability is pretty similar (both great) but the performance edition gets there with two larger 140mm fans where the RGB uses three 120mm. Can't go wrong with either one IMO, so if you like door design, interior space, and I/O of the case then go with whichever looks best to you. The front fan configuration and replacing the fan controller with an RGB controller should be the only differences between the cases.
@Phanthesma3 жыл бұрын

@LilMikeysBigPlans3 жыл бұрын
You can remove the front bracket on the case by opening up the sides, removing the front cable 'shield' from the back side, and then locating two thumb screws (one on each side) under the front 'lip' of the case. It's easy to miss them if you're just looking at the screws holding the case together as they are and inch or so behind the lip. From there the bracket just flips down and pulls out of the case given you easy access to the fan screws and mounting channels. Let me know if you can't follow and I can put some pictures up or something and good luck!
