I gotta be honest. I thought this was going to be too long at first glance. It’s not and it’s a great review. This is my first IEM, partially thanks to this review. I’m using fairly neutral beats Beats Studio pro but I wanted something small, single piece, and that fits in your pocket any size. The bass and mids are flat and the hi slightly boosted. It’s as neutral as you can find for mixing and mastering for this price point and maybe even double or triple the price. The new stellaris and starfield are similar but at 3x the price. I think these are probably almost as good if not as good based on the review and from what I’ve read I really think these are the absolute best sub $150-200 IEM you can buy….well used to be able to buy; they are NOW DISCONTINUED AND OUT OF PRODUCTION. I’m so lucky I got the absolute last SSR left on eBay on Dec 14 2024…. Thanks again for the review. One question: for $50-100, is there a comparable brand to Moondrop? Which model would you say is the one that says it for you? I really love Moondrop now and I hope to stick with them and not start trying other brands and IEMs Thanks again, merry Christmas

Yeah saw someone already mention do to QC stopped selling (and I too, commend them, for being straight up and doing the right thing) hopefully gets fixed and comes back out, was gonna probably get one.. But, IMO, it has been a recent trend, of boosted upper mid-range; not really understanding that (these, bl05, maybe t2 plus)..idk I like great treble, and it can be elevated..just not my ideal, the super high upper mids..
@SuperReview4 жыл бұрын

@bigjt374 жыл бұрын
@@SuperReview haha no that is totally fair. I'm not necessarily condemning tbf, just more so, I like the elevated treble as you do, just maybe more so than the upper mid-range, if I have my drother's.. That's for sure..😄✌🏼 I've actually been told with your review t2 plus it's actually good (today in fact, by someone else I really trust), I may try it.. @ 10:08 after you compare to Blon 03 which many agree is great sounding + great value iem. You start to dance around apologizing almost for the absence of bass relative to the 13db elevated mids to highs region. True, a flat bass graph is desirable by some but when compared to elevated mids and highs - if listening at reasonable levels most human ears do not perceive/hear low frequencies or high frequencies as well as mids. That is why “loudness” compensation was introduced as a button on early stereo receivers to “enhance” listening while listening at lower volumes. Just look up Fletcher Munson loudness contour. This is why sirens are tuned to that band of frequencies that we can all hear. That said, if we listen to these at reasonable levels to a point where the pronounced tuning of these iems are not making our ears hemorrhage with a 13 dB or so elevation in frequencies at or in the region of sirens and alarm, this deviation from mid bass, or any bass at all one could say that these iems have no bass per the Fletcher Munson studies of human listening. It is my understanding that the Harmon tuning curve is set to compensate for most human ears so that a reasonable bump in the sub to mid bass relative to the usual midrange plateau seen on most graphs basically means we hear them as neutral sounding. It is also my understanding that all the flourishes, picks and dips above 8 khz are tuned to try to recreate what our ears hear in real life to create a sense of stage and depth while also maintaining good sheen and air to the listening experience. Can you speak to what songs you listened to when evaluating these? I apologize in advance as I stopped your video at 11 minutes after I heard your comments regarding bass and how these IEMs appealed to you but...were not for everyone because I felt compelled to comment on that aspect and honestly, how often you actually get to mention Fletcher Munson???

These arrived today, nice box, "ooh, little love hearts." says the wife. With the right tip they do go deep. I bought them on spec as they're Beryllium drivers, and every such driver I've tried is amazing. I could tell you how disappointed I was with these. Even thought I tried Spinfit CP100's (Yellow) Tin T2 blue foams, and then Ikko iPlanet foams. Tied the stock cable, 16 core silver balanced cable, 16 core OCC SE cable. the ES100Mk2 and the THX AAA 789. I even taped up the screwhole/port with gaffer tape. Instead I'll tell you this: The problem with the SSR is that the Blon bl03 exists, it is effectively the same price, and with the same tips and cable and source, it just sounds far better. If you have more money to spend then I'd skip the BLON and go directly to the UrbanFun YBF, which now comes in a nicer box with better accessories. For even less money (around $20) you could buy a CVJ CSA which sound excellent balanced. My first Beryllium dud, had to happen sometime.

They're still pretty gutless, I tried the blue T2 foams, and then Ikko iPlanet foams, they're still bass light, this was with the 16 core OCC cable I pulled off my BLON bl03

It seems you are not a fan of kz, but it would be interesting to hear your opinion.

I have not. KZ makes some decent earphones, but they also seem a bit haphazard in their lineup.

the blon is not bassy and just dull sounding, i dont get the hype. probably, i just prefer clear wide iems. my zsn pro has better bass and i dont even think it's bassy.
@dark-california4 жыл бұрын
I own both. KZ ZSN Pro is too much in the highs for me. Bass is definitely more in the BLON BL-03 than the KZ ZSN Pro. Use your KZ Starlight earplugs and invert them and put them on your BL-03. Than let me know what you think

According to graphs everything below 3kHz iz dipped by more than 15dB on those. Then it drops by 20dB at 8kHz. So no sparkle in the treble whatsoever (no cymbals and electric guitar energy), no drums, no base guitar, no kick whatsoever. I have no idea why you would rate a signature like this 5/5.

I can add time stamps after KZbin lets me clip off the beginning seconds of the video, usually takes a while. BTW, I prefer to hear what people want, not what they think I must do.
