Practical use testing (modified one and used in an HvZ game), the select gimmick does end up being handy for keeping a filled magazine in place while changing out the other one. And with the close ranges, the accuracy isn't as much of a concern. But it's still a really expensive loadout, and is more "we can make this blaster fit the gametype" than "this blaster is great and is a natural fit for anyone's collection".

As an Australian, I like Ultra and my small community of nerfers like it too. The darts flight straight and hit hard right out of the box without modification. Compared to almost every elite blaster that the streamline darts just dribble out the barrel without extensive modification.

What Hasbro needs to do now is take that mag carriage system and put it in a Rapidstrike or even a Modulus ECS-10 shell. They don't even need to include two different ammo types, either. Swapping mags instantly and still being able to fire from the active mag while replacing the inactive one would be revolutionary.

What blows my mind on the Ultra darts along with things like Elite vs Accustrike and Mega vs Mega Accustrike is there's zero reason why those darts shouldn't be the norm, when there's a slightly modified design that's leaps and bounds improvement there's no excuse to continue selling inferior products. Hasbro's known what darts work and what don't for years now, it annoys the hell out of me that we still get terrible, inaccurate darts.

If you think about it... The ultra select comes with a pre-built 24 capacity drum. But it's a magazine. And when you are done with one mag, it takes a few seconds to switch to the other magazine.

I did a groupings test with EVERY SINGLE ULTRA DART and the groupings vary up to 45%. The sonic screamers are the least accurate, then the black ultra darts, then the gold ones that come with the Pharaoh. The most accurate dart is the Ultra Accustrike (they come with the Select and the Focus). In range, the gold ones that come with the Pharaoh and Dorado.

Im so on the fence about Ultra, even with more accurate darts. They are still the rippable styrofoam darts. Its another ammo type thats not scored any differently in any game type, and its not better than waffle elites, half darts, rival, or even hyper. Aesthetically they look cool. But i just cant justify buying into this ammo type; especially since im still on the fence about hyper too

The mag carriage system is like a MP40/II with the dual mags which you swap when one is empty, on the MP40/II it was for capacity not 2 different types of ammo, but it would be cool to have a MP40/II and load one side with ball and one with hollow points. Shame i don't have a MP40/II just a MP40 c02 haha.

I like this blaster for the magazine system, have the “more accurate” darts in both mags, and then it’s a much quicker reload, then you take the empty msg, and have a full one ready to shoot for emergencies, until you reload your empty one, then that one becomes your back up, a great blaster for ultra only battles

Actually, you'd want less accurate darts when you're just spraying and praying at close range. Basically, you're not really aiming and are just hoping a few of your darts hit the target or another random enemy player.

Honestly a magazine carriage system like this is could be great for helping with reloading. You could load the currently unused magazine with stray darts while still having a partially loaded magazine ready to go, and just switch between the two as they run out.

The Germans tried this magazine Carriage system with the MP40/I I found it to be little more than unwieldy an impractical gimmick. It's amazing how people never learn from the past. I think that the double mag is good for HVZ. You can have a loaded mag while reloading an empty one. Always a spare mag a second away from being able to fire.

The Select's magwell, even if you're just using AccuStrike Ultra darts, allows for more capacity than standard, with a bonus perk of easy reloads with the mag still in the blaster.

Thanks, love your honest reviews. Building an armory for summer wars, WA t to have blasters available for those who don't. I went for the Accustrike as one of my ammo types. I think it could be good, but we'll see. I like the stylized look, and they will be the only motorized blasters, so I think it balances out. I envision an Accustrike team doing some skirmishes.

Can you load the magazines when they are in 'unused' position? I really like the concept, and I think it'll be very useful for normal blasters that use Elite .50 sized darts, if you can load the magazined when they are in unused position. It's like an evolved form of jungle clip/magazine, that takes less time to switch. (Would be even cooler if they could make one that, let's say, holds three magazines.)

I've read your update on the community post, so I won't expect you to read this, Coop, but I need to say it: If you're not reloading the empty magazine with a full one at the stand-by position, you're missing a great point of this blaster. The greatest way to use this gun is to empty one magazine, switch to the next one, and replace the first one with a full-load magazine while you're shooting the 2nd one. This way you can create an illusion of "you never ran out of ammo" on the enemy team and make them hella confused.
