These Tele Vibes are great guitars. The sound and action are excellent, with no intonation issues. I bought one 2 yrs ago, but it was stolen. I was heartbroken. Since then I bought two more, did a capacitor mod, and installed Seymour Duncan '54 vintage on 1, and BareKnuckle "Irish Tour" in the other. They are such good guitars, that I use them at every show. The price is amazing too. I love 'em. Thank for the demo, so other players can hear how good they are.

I was considering an American Baja Tele.I currently use a Squier Affinity Butterscotch Tele(which for $180, is a stage worthy guitar), no matter what gear snobs say.I've been looking hard at the 50's Squire Classic Vibe (vintage blonde). Since listening to your review, I'M SOLD. Ordering it in 5 minutes. That is one fine sounding guitar and exceeds half the American Teles I've played. Thanx for your pickin'.sounded awesome!!!!!!!!!

A big hello from the UK Glenn!! and huge thanks for your excellent review of this great value instrument. I'm a full time working guitar player in the market for some Tele tones on a real world budget (hey..that's always the issue for a genuine working player! haha) so your informative and beautifully played demo here has been a real help to me. Thanks again and keep doing what you're doing my friend..it's very much appreciated :-)

Gary Taylor Thank you Gary. Your words mean a lot to me. If you are in the UK, Andertons does a great review of both the Classic Vibe Tele and the Strat. I love those guys! I have had the guitar for a few years and the only issue I have had is that you must keep the input jack tight. (of course you can have the same issue with a genuine 52 or 52 reissue.) I have used this on a couple of gigs and it performs well. I thought about replacing the stock pickups but love them. I found out through many sources that they are made by Tonerider which shares a space in the same plant in China that Fender has these guitars made. Great pups! Enjoy!

Glenn Ireland Hey, thanks for your reply and the extra info on the pups!! It all sounds good to me and I'm sure this Classic Vibe range will be bang on the money for my needs...and budget!! Kind regards.

Glenn I like your review. I bought one of these after seeing so many great reviews. This guitar is really great. I have fender telecasters and strat, but usually play the Squire classic vibe. It is a " best kept secret" and I'm pretty sure the classic vibes will get more pricey as people catch on. Needless to say a tremendous bang for the buck. Very nice playing on the video to demonstrate. You just reinforced what I already knew!

This is probably the best review I have seen of the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. I bought one of the blondes earlier this year and find myself playing it quite often (I posted an unboxing video). It's a great budget priced all purpose guitar. I would feel safe and comfortable gigging with this and leaving my valuable vintage guitars at home. Would I rather have a real '50's Fender Telecaster? Yes,of course! But I am not ready to mortgage my home to buy another guitar!!! Thanks...

Hi Glenn, I bought this guitar recently, and I was very surprised by it. I am not a Tele fan, but this guitar pushed me to change my mind. Great sounding Alnico 5. No problems with tuning,intonation,nut,electronics at all. The neck pick-up just sounds amazing ,also for jazz, and very,very close to my LP.Great sustain too. An A+ for Fender.
@reverendglenn10 жыл бұрын
Good to hear Jos. I keep it on my guitar stand all the time. I do take it out on gigs but it pretty much is my practice guitar at home. It performs amazingly well live with minimal noise. Do take care to tighten the input jack nut from time to time as mine gets loose every so often but that can happen with a '52 Tele just as easily. Cheers!
@MrJosinka4710 жыл бұрын
Glenn Ireland Hi Glenn, I also needed to tighten again the input jack. Please,tighten it, and then you put enough "nail paint " ( what women use for there nails).The day that you need to unscrew it,this paint breaks. This seals the screw (bolt).Indeed this guitar has nearly no noise. Glenn,I make my amps myself. I use a Princeton,a Deluxe Reverb,but a Head and Cabinet version,and the cabinet has a 15" JBL standard D130,and I also made a Vibroverb,which is the same circuit as a Super Reverb AB763, and with a JBL-K130 speaker which I reconed. This Tele on the Vibroverb sounds amazing from bottom till top !!! Kind regars !

Spent two hours last night playing this guitar working out an instrumental arrangement of I Shot The Sheriff. Is it wrong to love this guitar so much? I still find myself falling into what people call the "cork sniffer" trap meaning I feel guilty for it not having an Fender USA label on it. Recently went into Sam Ash and played some real sweet Telecasters in the $900 -$2300 range and I must say I still get a bang out of this sweet little pine guitar that I got for $325 on a Memorial Day weekend sale. Enjoy!

no glenn ..you're not wrong at all...this guitar is a miracle !! :-) simply beautiful !!! I don't give a damn of the logo "Fender" ...it is a Fender !! with the squier logo on it ! :-) How is your action set on it? high or low ? Now i'm using medium action on mine, wich allows me to get a soft tone good for jazz and blues stuff. you know, when you set the action higher, the tone becomes bigger, but compared to the other guitars i have, with this tele set on a higher action the tone not only becomes bigger, but also change it's character, becoming more aggressive, scratched and metallic ! did you notice it ?...p.s. i will slowly learn all those beautiful jazzy chords you play, note by note !!! :-) Cheers Alex
@reverendglenn11 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex. I have the action set fairly low but not so much as the strings buzz. Surprised how great it sounds with crunch on it. It has that really great Tele sparkle. I seriously have played more expensive Tele's and cannot make a distinction. I am glad you are enjoying it as well.

Thanks for your reply ! :-) I'm from Italy and i'm able enough to speak and write in english, but sometimes i get some trouble to understand when i listen people speaking english or american..could you be so kind to write what you say in the clip about what fender suggest on the three saddles to keep a good tuning ? Thanks a lot Glenn :-) Bye
@reverendglenn11 жыл бұрын
Yes! Put some 3 in 1 oil (or sewing machine oil as it is called) on the nut grooves and on the saddles. It will allow the strings to move freely without getting stuck. This way, when you bend a string the string can move freely.

Leo Fender did build some guitars with Pine bodies, but those were made very early in the history and, in fact, were built before the first official production run (in 1950). Those guitars did not have reinforced necks and some of them were infected with termites, which became evident when sawdust began to appear in the cases along with wormholes in the finish of the guitar.

Hey Glen! Excellent review thanks a lot! Yeah I have been wanting to get a Telecaster guitar for quite a while now, to compliment with my good old Strat and an also great full hollow body Gretsch style guitar that I have. I've spent a lot of money on those guitars and also great amps over the years, so I am kind of on a budget, but have heard great things about this Squier CV 50s Telecaster guitars. It seems that is not just a budget guitar but also an all in all great performer guitar that I could keep and enjoy playing for long time. I'm waiting for a paycheck that is coming soon and I think I am about to just pull the trigger and order one of this guitars or see if I can find one on my local guitar store here in San Jose, Costa Rica. Thank you. Some interesting facts. Fender only pays about $40 each for these from the Chinese manufacturer. The pickups have been proven to be Toneriders. The same Toneriders that people use to replace their Tele pickups! Which coincidentally are located in the same plant as where the Classic Vibe series guitars are made. Same serial numbers, wiring etc. I recently did a side-by-side challenge with this model, the American Special and the American Standard at Sam Ash music and to be honest with you I STILL like the Classic Vibe! The noise level on the 1 and 3 positions was about the same opened up and the Classic Vibe actually sounds better with crunch. It was that very distinctive Tele growl. I have used it live as well and it rocks. Thanks and enjoy!

Steve G Great to hear! The only issue I have had recently is the nut came loose on the input jack (which happens all the time to '52 Telecasters) and the plating on the chrome is not very good....so, if you are looking for that distressed look, it won't take long. Otherwise, it stays on my music stand and is my go to guitar at home.

The one thing I did do was take off the round string tree and replaced it with a two sided string tree post. I think it gives better tension for the strings, the other was just a cheap substitute but at that price a little tweaking is a pleasure. It's my sit on the couch and play during commercials guitar. My 1k plus guitars are gathering dust. This is a killer guitar for just about anything and thanks to your great review. I'm an owner. Thanks again for that GREAT REVIEW! Steven

Great little guitars ! I had a Squier Classic Vibe Tele Custom . Loved the guitar , but the neck was too thin front to back for me . I have not played the butterscotch or White Blond ones . How is the neck shape ?

Sounds super. But don't these pine ones weigh a ton? Are you over 6' 2?
@reverendglenn11 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. No they are not heavy at all. I have an Ash Tele and they are about the same weight. They run about 9lbs. Frankly the tone qualities of pine are amazing... I am only 5'11"

Nine pounds! Do you think I'm Arnold Schwarzenegger?? Just kidding, sort of. Have you heard one of the white ones with pine bodies but Alnico 3 pups? I'm wondering if they wouldn't sound the same. btw your playing is super. You should demand Keith Richards's job. Thanks for the reply!

Ha! Funny....Keith has the gig wrapped up. The Alnico 3's are a bit mellower in sound and output from what I have read. I have done the side by side challenge in the music store with the CV, the American Standard and American Special and have to say it really stands up.

Do you still have your Epi 339 and this CV Tele? I have mine and love them.

Beautiful job on this demo. I especially love your jazz playing. Where do you learn all those jazz chords? Compared to jazz, rock or blues is simple. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of material out there to show jazz chords or techniques. Oh yeah, that Squier CV Tele is pretty amazing too. I have a 50's Squier CV Telecaster P-bass and it puts any American made Fender bass I've ever played to shame. The tone and quality of the entire Classic Vibe series is amazing overall with an equally amazing price. Why pay more for a Fender especially when their quality has slipped so much over the past few years?

Hey Xcorgi, there are some great books out there but Ted Greene's books are legendary. Plus, if you have a basic knowledge of scales....make up your own chords! Knowing what chords to use as substitutions helps as well. As Martin Taylor the great solo jazz player has stated, "Use your ear first then if that does not work rely on theory." I have been actually using this guitar over more expensive guitars on gigs of late. It really has a broad dynamic range and can go from Rock to blues to top 40 to jazz easily. The best part? It stays in tune amazingly. Enjoy!

Glenn Ireland Yeah, I've seen a bunch of videos with Ted Greene here on KZbin. That guy was truly a genius. In fact, when my brother attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music back in the 80's for classical guitar, one of his instructors turned him onto the Chord Chemistry book by Ted Greene. In fact, your playing reminds me a lot of Ted's playing. Truly beautiful work! I was only about 17 back then and was only playing drums. I really didn't get what the whole deal was about regarding Ted's technique. It wasn't till I was about 25 when I started playing guitar. Even then it was the immature 80's rock and 90's metal. It's amazing how when you finally grow up (for me around age 40) that you gain a strong appreciation for blues, jazz and classical finger style. I've went from the cheesy Charvels and Jacksons to Fender Strats and now after all these years have finally fallen in love with the Telecaster. Ironically, in my ignorant youthful days I despised it and thought is was just for country. Oh yeah, I've grown to appreciate that too. Lol. Anyway, I finally tried out this exact same Squire CV Tele the other day and could not believe the sheer quality of beautiful tones I could get out of this thing. The build quality is amazing too. It reminds me of the amazing quality instruments produced from the Fuji-Gen plant in Japan from the 1980's. Squier's Chinese plant really seems to be using Fuji-Gen's example of high quality for a low price to churn out this fantastic Classic Vive line. Lucky for us!

The neck is the best for smaller hands. Frankly, I have a 1996 Korean made Pro-Tone Tele (hot rodded with a PAF humbucker in the neck and a Seymour Quarter Pound at the bridge) I would take this over an Amercian any day. I would suggest doing the Pepsi challenge yourself and compare the Classic vibe. The only thing slightly flimsy is the 3 way switch which is correctable if needed. See my notes above on the pickups. OEM'd by Tone Rider.

What's the jazzy song you're playing at the start? Sounds amazing
@reverendglenn9 жыл бұрын
+GuigyMan Thanks. It's a very old standard called Out Of Nowhere. I think Rudy Vallee did it back in the 1930's.
