At first i was like “great, here’s another PowerPoint you tube channel” but I’m glad i watched - it’s really good to see younger people NOT fall for this timeshare crap. You do NOT need to pre-pay for vacations. Just save up and go on vacation when you need to or want to.

This is great info and thank you for sharing your experience💪🏽💜💯. I must say that I'm also in awe with the $2k for 3 weeks vacation. That's less than $100/day accommodation... you still must "get there" (car, flight or otherwise), plus eat. I completely get it, she may not vacation like you... but that's some tight math🥰

We can relate to a lot of your experience. Our sales lady was so very similar. She was condescending and upset with us if we took her off script with our questions. My husband kept saying, "explain to me how this is an ownership, what exactly do we "own"?" We understood the value in the points and how we are "buying in" at a rate that won't increase over the years as costs to travel would increase, but what we can't wrap our mind around was the annual maintenance fees. Also, one thing you didn't mention is that there are also booking fees each time you try and use your timeshare. Like you it seems, we are very reasonable and responsible with our money, and by no means is there enough time in a 2-hour presentation to make a decison about such a huge financial commitment. Our presentation and time after, lasted a total of 5 hours. Because if this was in fact something worth investing in, we needed more time to understand it. Our sales lady kept pressing upon how this was not high pressure sales and she was adamant that the "pressure" we felt was NOT coming from HER. She too, left us and we had zero closure with her in the end. The third person we dealt with was super nice and genuine and allowed our anxiousness to subside, but our sales lady was just awful. We are sure she was just pissed that we took so much of her time and was eager to find her next set of suckers haha. It feels reassuring after watching your video that we aren't the only people out there clueless to what exactly we were first getting ourselves into. We did not have any idea that this was a timeshare offer. Our opportunity was presented to us when we were forced to cancel a trip in 2020. We had bookings in several IHG hotels and when we called to cancel, they presented us with this offer. We told the guy (our third person) when he asked what we thought we had signed up and we told him some sort of COVID offer since we had had to cancel. No idea it was a timeshare. Oh and our presentation was in Las Vegas and they offered us a stay at the Sahara instead of the resort directly, and seemed put off when we called months later to make the actual booking that we wouldn't want to stay at the resort. When they had offered it to begin with. That should have been our first clue haha. Sorry for the long msg, just nice to see we had similar experiences and can relate. Enjoy your future travels!

I'm going there because I enjoy messing with them. When they say something, I give them the awkward silent treatment they try to use on you. When my two hours are up, I look at my watch and tell them their time is up. I get my reward they promised me, and I'm on my way. They can't shake me up.

Your complaining about a nice vacation for 199? So you had a bad sales person but you got a nice vacation. It’s not a scam, for those of us who now how to use it correctly & travel, it’s great! Just do your homework, it’s not for everyone but don’t complain you had to give 2 hrs for a nice vacation for 199!

Thank you so much for such an informative video. I got a call a few days ago and was unfortunately trapped into buying the $199 package today for a 4 day 3 night stay. I had no idea of all the bad experiences and reviews that were associated with this. They mentioned it was a requirement to attend a 2-hr "VIP Tour", which I now found out to be an unpleasant sales pitch presentation. My stance with timeshares is exactly like yours -- I hate contracts and paying into something you don't 1000% own, so no thanks. Do you think it's worth redeeming this package for a potentially unhappy trip, or should I spare myself and take this as a lessons learned to not book trips through a random sales call with no option to review the documents before booking? Lol 😕
@MrMathExpert

It depends on the location and how much it usually goes for. I only did it because the offer was a steal. Prior to the presentation, I had to mentally prepare myself to say no for 2 hours straight. They used all kinds of sales techniques on me. Remember they only saw me as $, nothing more.

I could relate because I stay with IHG. Back when I just got a job I had the exact phone call you described and somehow agreed to it. Then I learned how bad it can be. Knowing I am the type of person who have soft ears, I'd rather not go at all so I kept "pushing back" on the redemption dates and eventually told them to no bother. Now thinking about it, when you accept that deal package, you already accepted "prepay vacation and redeem on any time of year" concept. That means you're already following their model and you're an easy pray for them.

My dad received a phone call by a Holiday Inn Vacation Club employee and i believe he agreed on a $250 deal but yet to book a date does that mean he's contractually obligated to any fees or an annual payments? This whole timeshare is new and confusing to me I just read on forums about how these deals are somewhat of a scam.
@MrMathExpert
@MrMathExpert 11 ай бұрын
No, it's not a scam. Depends on where the location is, when, and the going rate for hotels in that area, it's a good deal, but he's required to attend a 2-hour meeting. That's when he needs to keep saying "no" for 2 hours straight. After that, it's over. He fulfilled the obligation without paying for anything. It's up to him.

First of all ihg amd holiday inn hotels are 2 different things. 2 maintenance fees are no where near $2500 a year. My dad has owned a time share with them and his fees just passed $1000 this past year. 3 your buying a deeded property. You get points to use at over 40 different locations. Not including the rci which has thousands of locations all over the world. If you were this clueless about time share high pressure sales pitches maybe you should of just spent the money and got a regular hotel
@richardmcfarland7954

And let me add. Maintenance fees this year were just a bit over $1000. I go to myrtle beach every year. Try and find a 2 bedroom resort fulll kitchen 2 bathrooms dining room living room for 6 nights for $1000. Aint gonna happen

@@richardmcfarland7954 I wasn't interested in a timeshare property in the first place. I was given an offer of 5 day, 4 night stay at a nice hotel in Gaitlinsburg, TN, for $199. That was an absolute steal. All it required out of me was to attend a presentation for 2 hours. I kept saying "no" over and over until they finally understood what the word meant after 2 hours of high pressure sales pitches and finally gave me the voucher. There was no reason to treat me rudely at any point during the presentation. The bottom line: they offered, I took it, I did my part but didn't fall for the ultimate bait, and the end.

You got a room that would normally be well over @1000 for $200. This still amazes me that your gonna sit hear and bitch when you had zero intentions of getting a time share. You are the scam artist. Just cause it's offered doesn't mean you have to take it. When my parents bought their time share they went to Hawaii twice. The money it would of cost to stay those 2 times more than covered what they paid for the time share. Your not gonna find a decent hotel anywhere for 7 days for $1000 or less. Maybe you like to stay at shit holes when you go on vacation that's your choice. I like to stay somewhere nice.
