Yeah, you were putting about 3x as much as needed on each link. You just need to put enough to allow it to soak down around the pin - like half of a drop. Be sure to wipe down your chain after applying and for best results, as specified, let it dry for 3-4 hours or overnight if possible. This prevents the chain from picking up dirt.

Do you wipe out the chain immedeatly after applying the lube or after the 3-4 hours drying time,please?

@@greekveteran2715 Spin the crank backwards 5-10 revolutions to distribute the lube into the links and then wipe the excess lube off of the chain right away. Once this type of lube is dry, it won't pick up much dirt (though it will still pick up some, just wipe down the chain again after every ride)

I heard this is a wax-based lube, and this is a secret of it's thinness. Nice product, but the price you pay for having always clean drivetrain is that it lasts up to 50 kilometres only (in dry conditions of course). If you trip lasts longer, you should take it for re-lubing on the road (in this case, small 50 ml size in an advantage). Also Muc Off has 5 ml "sample" tubes, for me they are the best for that purpose. When using this product, after every ride I just wipe chain with a piece of wet terry towel and apply the lube again (due to it's thinness towel can be easily washed with a laundry soap, so I use the same piece endlessly).

How long have you used this for now ? Ive heard good things about this product but also that it cakes on your chain and drive and almost impossible to take off

I’ve had this on my chain for a month and haven’t seen anything I really dislike. To me, they all have build up. I do like this better than Squirt, like it as well as TruTension All Weather. I have yet to try Silcas dry drip and UFO dry

I use this on my road bikes, and no issues so far. Now my area isn't that bad for small debris, but I clean my chain completely, even ensuring it's dry by placing it in the oven at 180° for about 20 min, completely cool down, dry over night.

The muc off dry lube is pretty clean to use, but muc off wet is very messy and hard to remove.

How did you degrease your chain?

Great question. For a degreaser I use Mineral Spirits. 3 baths, first in just a jar, then two cycles in ultrasonic. I prep a lot of chains, so this makes sense for me. And I can recycle the mineral spirits. But you can buy specific degreasers from Silca or Ceramic speed.

@@vitalbikechains I bought small bottle of muc off dry. Chain has 500miles. Was hoping to just add product without degreasing

@@pauly51 It's not recommended. I think it actually says that on the back of the bottle. But, if you do add on top of the grease, just wipe off as much as the excess lube as possible. And let it dry overnight if possible. After you ride, wipe the chain off real good. I image you'll have a mucoff/grease mixture. keep me posted.

After surfing around for reviews I'm finding a lot of high end testing saying Muc off is some of the worst lube around and to stay far away from it. I've been using the MucOff dry lube for a couple months and it seems to attract a lot of dark grime. I guess Muc Off offers big margins to LBS shops to sell their products so that's why we see it around so much.

Yep, your story is what keep hearing. A lube I’m anxious to try is Mariposa Flower Power. Tested well at zero friction cycling. Cost is decent.

Your chain and chain ring seemed to be dirty before you applied the lube. After you finished your ride the chain appeared to attract a lot dirt which acts as a grinding paste that causes your chain to wear out prematurely. According to Zero Friction Cycling - this product is one of the worst that they have ever tested. I agree with them, that is why I immerse my chain in hot wax instead.

This was a test and the lube now just sits on my shelf. Nothing beats just immersive rewaxing.

@@AllanHundeboll Still waiting for my check! I thought it was just OK. Seemed to work better on my immersive waxed chain than Squirt. I do sell Squirt for the Wax Dry lube riders. And I sell UFO, TruTension and Silca for the immersive waxed chain fans. I don't sell anything muc-off.
