That is a cool idea. Great for a minimalist kit. You could even make it out of para cord. A very handy idea. Thanks.

@Bowdrillaz Bushcrafter: As you say the Saami belt most often used is a wide belt, other then that they come in a wide variety of design and shapes. There is also a difference between the belts for everyday use and the ones used for special occasions. One type I have seen is made up of two pieces of leather where one part is about 10 cm wide, giv or take, with loops in it. In these loops are a leather belt that is about 2,5 cm that is the actual belt. Both leather pieces are covered in decorated holes used both as decoration and for attaching things to the belt. Some older belts made up of two pieces like this that I have seen (museum pieces) have had a cord instead of a ordinary belt in the middle. One could, if one wanted too stretch it far, say that you just used the cord :) As attachment system goes some Saami belts use rings instead of holes but holes for the cords as attach system seems by far most common. The stuff you have in your belt is pretty similar to what you would find in a Saami belt though. But many Saami have a few things more. For one the use more knifes in different sizes and shapes made and used for different purposes. Many have for example 3 knifes in their belt at the same time. Some knifes used: A chopper (bowie size knife known as "Lapphuggare"), a standard size knife for general use, a knife with a shorter but wider blade (might be used for open up the belly of an animal but are use for many other things as well), a small narrow and curved blade big as a pinky used for render the reindeer that is about to be slaughtered brain dead (so they can tap it for blood with minimum pain). There are probably more varieties as well. I have not seen axes so often in the belts though, they usually are in the backpack but hey that might just be the people I've met. The coffee/suger/salt pouch is a classic. Also the Kåsa (koksa) and also mittens was often attached to the belt by a thong. Further there was, at least historically, often a sewing set in the belt with a particular design where it is hidden inside a antler. It was not uncommon that a "gear holder" was attached to the belt that held several things attached to it. Further it is quite interesting to compare the belts of the Saami and the "Vikings", they are in fact pretty similar at times and they seem to have held a similar function both in mundane life but also in folk lore and mythology. Anyhow I liked you belt. It was very simplistic but great function.

It takes 30 minutes to make, not difficult. People should do more gear of their own, instead of buying. Thanks!

I completely agree. My gear is more and more hand made, and much less mass produced. There is something very satisfying about using self made gear, I agree.!

Thinking about the sheath. It's true that the shape helps with taking out the knife, but the sami antler sheaths are made that way because of the shape of the antler.
