I just got the offworld invader v3 blue chameleon I love it it came with the rubber padding on the back side and not the dark matter which to me doesn’t matter since I’m using it on a stand mostly

That's a solid choice that should last a long time!

If I know that I am probably never going to play on a real marching snare ever again in my life, should I worry about pad hands? I really like my Offworld and it is probably the best pad I have ever owned but I am very interested in softer pads these days. By the way, your triple stroke rolls are chef's kiss! Could really hear every note with the laminate.

@glim3125 The softer the pad, the more you'll build up chops, but you'll feel more of a difference when you get on an actual drum because there will likely be a lot more rebound, articulation, etc. When I used to practice with the softer side of my old RealFeel I would notice a pretty big difference in rebound when I jumped on an actual drum, but it felt normal again usually within a few minutes to an hour or so. If practicing with a quieter/softer pad means you'll get more reps in at the cost of developing "pad hands," I'd argue that's better than practicing less frequently on a pad/drum that wouldn't cause pad hands. Thanks for the kind words about the threes! That exercise I mentioned the other day and a whole lot of focused effort is what led to the current state of my threes. Glad the new laminate makes it so I can actually hear all three notes at faster speeds.

Do you know if regularly applying turtle wax/armor all is similar to the laminate?
@JaredOLeary7 күн бұрын
@edoggo1887 Waxing will help keep the shine and prevent the DarkMatter material from drying out, which leads to the wear I had on my old pad (I stopped waxing mine years ago), but it won't change the sound/articulation like the laminates will. Offworld has an FAQ talking about their recommendations for waxing: www.offworldpercussion.com/faq/
