Review of Schindler's website

As Dave jones from the EEVBLOG would say “it’s a lot of marketing wankery”. I.e. Advertising bullshit. Sometimes I wonder if it’s the marketing departments and the shareholders that run the show. The marketing materials are presented in a way to “Impress” architects and investors. A lot of them know bugger all about the technical side of things. Lifts like the 3300 exist because the buyers/decision makers want the cheapest lift they can get. They ask for a few quotes from a few lift companies and choose the cheapest bid. As a technically minded person I cannot really think in a commercial way. But yeah, Schinder probably hired an AAA ad agency to make their fancy marketing materials. I’d it’s not too shabby for the avarage person. You know what they say, “you’ve got to dress to impress!” It’s all about the impression that the customer gets and the customer is usually a project developer. The 7000 is basically an M-series wearing a new suit with a new haircut to match. The car industry does this a lot too, they just reskin an existing product and sell it as “new and improved”.

That building in Hong Kong is use 7000 with PORT, the observation tower lifts go 11m/s from 2/F to 100/F, and the lifts in shopping mall is KONE MonoSpace

Notice how in the Schindler 5500 website it says up to 150m/50 floors. I don't think it's even suitable for over 20 floors.

They are selling their services more than their products, which is probably the right strategy for their target audience. Only for expensive properties would lift performance have a chance to become important to their customers.

In America the models are 3100(2 or 3 floors) 3300 (4-8 floors) 3300 XL (larger version of 3300) 5500 (Up to 30 floors) 7000 (not MRL) 330A (Hydraulic) 6400NA (essentially 5500 for mods)

In Ireland, the main term for a lift is a 'lift', but in the past couple of years, many hotels and public buildings are using the term 'elevator', and I notice every child or young person I hear all call them elevators. IT'S A ''LIFT''. It seems that either the term 'lift' sound old fashioned or they want Ireland to become Americanised. I don't mind America calling a lift an elevator, but to hear it called an elevator in Ireland or Britain (or even Australia or New Zealand) where we speak British English, it just boils my blood.

Actually, 5400 ONLY Discontinued in SOME country. But they are still in-production in China, few other Asian countries and some South American countries.

Idk about New Zealand, but I think we still have the 5400 (non-AP). Just a guess, though. *EDIT:* Nvm no we don’t, the only lifts with FI MXB that Schindler offers now in NZ are the 2400/2500/2600.

Think the newly-opened CapitaSpring skyscraper in Singapore still has a 5400 lift serving it's sky garden as it has a unique bell-shaped cross-section, so its supporting cables (which the 5400 uses instead of the belts used by 3300 & 5500) have to wrap around the lift at an angle, which would be more unstable if belts were used instead. Other lifts there are either 5000/5500/7000 though I think (based on the motor's sound), with even the carpark lifts (B1-L8) using PORT

Schindler 3300 logic is good and can have pre-doors.

I actually heard of that, but haven't seen an installation with predoors. I'm sure they're coming to new buildings. Honestly what we would hate about the lift is the cheap build quality. There's not too much to complain about the logic, it's quite reliable on it's own.

I've seen them replace a S-series by a 3300. While they were building the lift, there were a load of Sematic boxes laying on the street. That tells you enough about the 3300's build quality.

Nah. Both 'elevator' and 'lift' are sh*t words. Elevator have too many syllables while lift is too generic word. Someone should come up with a new standardized word that only have two syllables.

I would say Otis is. Otis gen2s have higher profit margin than all the others. Money spent on a lift is used up by gimmicks such as Pulse belt cable monitoring. The lift is very bad for the money you spend and Otis locks people into their contracts with their blue and black tool system to force people to return to them if settings need changing.

As far as I remember the old drucegrove in early ecodiscs said "FIRE! Please leave when lift doors open", but when the Ecodisc voice replaced it, it was changed to ""FIRE! Please leave when elevator doors open" and new ecodisc voice says the same thing.
