Review of a Chinese copy of the edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake manifold, advertised as a "dual plane air gap" intake manifold on eBay.

Very clean looking casting, +1 and thumbs up for "EdelWok".

That's a surprisingly good looking manifold for something Chinese made. Two things I would be looking at before I fit it. The first one is gasket to port match (iengine and carb sides). Often on cheap knock off products, poor alignment can be a huge issue. The other thing is you don't know what it is cast out of, so you probably want to make sure that it has some inhibitor in it at all times to prevent corrosion.

“edelwok”😂 I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there!

Port alignment /shift was what I thought you would mention.

I have a similar Chinese made intake. Check all the runners on each port. I found a bunch of casting flash down in the runners. Used a screwdriver and pencil grinder to clean it all out.

As ive always said...it doesn't matter where it's made, its to who's standards it's made to is what actually matters (the manufacturer/designer). There's plenty of decent stuff manufactured in China, and plenty of junk manufacturered in the US and vise versa

So you think stolen designs and copy’s of another company’s development is ok. You actually really don’t care if you buy American or Chin?
@ElectricSwordfish7 ай бұрын
@@davidleary823 I don't agree with stealing designs, but that is irrelevant to my comment as the point still stands, I was talking more along the lines of stuff made in China designed by/sold under an American brand. 99% of the stuff in Walmart was made in China and it's perfectly fine. And as far as China VS American...have no preference, never cared honestly. Only bias I have is Japanese and German when it comes to my tools, household equipment, cars and so on...if possible that's who I buy from.

Should do the business. As with a lot of Chinese cylinder heads I see the machining is really pretty damn good. Its the quality of the alloy they use that is the biggest issue. Stick to around 30-40% coolant in the water and they are fine. Above that and the alloy seems to degrade a bit quicker than one would expect.
@goratgo19707 ай бұрын
Also only use distilled water (like 36 cents a gallon at grocery store) when you do your coolant blend so you don't introduce any minerals into system. Everything from pump to radiator will remain clean. Been doing this since the late 90's and all still clean.
@matui69837 ай бұрын

I am using for 3 years Chev SB China made heads with not a problem. These are 68 CC chambers - 202 - 160 values and I bought the heads as bare heads, so all parts put are US made. This is on a 383 stroker - 6 inch rods and made for a work truck I pull a 30-foot jet boat back and forth from Oregon to Alaska. The machine shop that did the work said the engine is 450+ HP . My 1 ton Truck the 383 replaced a 454 so the 383 is doing a very good job comparable to the 454. That 3.75 stroke and 6 inch rods made a perfect pulling truck engine for long hauling over mountain grades.
@LygerTheCLaw6 ай бұрын
that's quite strange, technically coolant is supposed to be an oxide inhibitor.
@goratgo19706 ай бұрын
@@LygerTheCLaw Another benefit of coolant! But I will still not introduce minerals into my vehicles with zero corrosion in cooling system after all these years, nothing strange about it.

why do people do reviews on things before actually testing them? it's been proven(mostly by the chinese) that stuff can look fine or even good but perform poorly when in use. basically who knows, the thing could crack before the intake bolts are tight, some chinese aluminum seems to be swiss cheese.
@nickthevanman90116 ай бұрын
This is only an initial impression, I absolutely will make another video of installation and performance. Performance wise....it'll probably be ok considering it's going on swirl port tbi heads on a fairly mild 350. If it had afr 190s, then yeah I'd stick a real edelbrock on it.

The fact that its made ok and is cheap is bad! This is like candy to a baby. People buy this offshore COPIED COUNTERFEIT stuff because they cant be patient and either use the factory part till they save up for the non fake part or they just need it now to fulfil their desire to look good to others. Buying this crud costs the legitimate business who 1st designed them a sale, and another and another and another sale till its not viable for the original conpany to make them any more or at the least they must put the price up! After some time said original manufacturer goes broke, closes down, discontinues the product etc so then all that is available is the FAKE part!!!, then what happens, the scamming copy company has no competition so they then put the price UP on the crud they faked. A win for the offshore knowledge stealers! A LOSS for your countries manufacturing and a loss for you next time you want a cheap product as the price goes up! Dont buy thus crud, dont hurt your country. The same is happening here in Australia, very sad to watch.
