I have this exact suit. Bought it based on your original review, and I absolutely love it.

Those Mustang suits have saved a lot of fishermen in the Bearing sea.

This is my next purchase based on your prior video I had already decided. Glad to see it still performs well.

These drysuits are on clearance right now, and I am considering one for late fall/winter fishing and kayaking. Thanks for the detailed review!

I just got mine thanks to your recommendation and am happy with it. I think im between sizes, 5'9 200lbs in a large is a bit bulky but comfortable.

I just got a sentinel aviation rescue swimmer dry suit from mustang for $500 not used with the tags on it. I just had to loose 10lbs to make it more comfortable.

I really appreciate the 2 year update. I have been trying to decide if a drysuit is appropriate for me. I live in central Texas. In the winter, the water temperature gets down to about 51F. The air temp varies wildly here and could literally be 19F or 99F, but let's say most days is around 50F. I don't think I've ever seen an angler in a drysuit here, but the National Center for Cold Water Safety has scared me real good. I'm fishing pretty small lakes that would be largely deserted in the winter. Do you have have any thoughts if a drysuit is appropriate for my situation?

A general rule is the 120 rule. If the air temp and water temp don't add up to exceed 120 you need some sort of immersion gear. That being said as long as you avoid the extreme cold snaps of central Texas I think you'll be okay. The only exception to this would be if you think you may be challenged to self rescue and do a fair bit of colder weather fishing.

@@spiltmilt The 120 rule is part of my confusion. The National Center for Cold Water Safety has an article titled, "Air + Water Temperature "Rules"" which says, "Using this formula, a person could mistakenly conclude that if the air temperature was 75F (24C) and the water temperature was 53F (11.6C), no protection would be needed because the total is above 120. That’s dangerously misleading because without thermal protection, immersion in 53F (11.6C) water is immediately life-threatening." They also call any water below 70F "cold." I can't tell if this guy is a prophet correctly warning everybody or too extreme. In the USCG 2022 Recreational Boating Statistics, when the water is 50-59F, 28% of reportable accidents result in death. If the water is 70-79F, then only 12% of accidents end in death. So maybe there is something there to be concerned about?

I'm interested in what you're wearing underneath your Mustang suit? Was it a wetsuit? Curious about how you were layering during that particular video.
@spiltmilt10 ай бұрын
Most of the time I wear the Kazan dry suit liner underneath. Its a grid fleece onesie that keeps me ultrawarm www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=el&merchant_id=c1629a4b-6c91-4893-b136-7ba0ca4a1ba5&website_id=3a38d1c4-2509-42da-84b4-03016c15049b&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmustangsurvival.com%2Fcollections%2Fmens-mid-base-layers%2Fproducts%2Fkazan-drysuit-liner-msl500

@spiltmilt Thank you for reply. Much appreciated. I was also looking for something to wear as a base layer while duck hunting and I believe this could be a two-fer! Thanks again!

Really good information as I am in the market for a dry suit. Mustang looks like a durable, well built suit. What is going on with your car's front hubs?

I looked to see if they make a women’s version of your dry suit… didn’t find one 😖
@spiltmilt10 ай бұрын
Actually they do its just designed with a different zipper so its easier for you to go to the bathroom. I know several women kayak anglers that have the Helix and love it. www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=el&merchant_id=c1629a4b-6c91-4893-b136-7ba0ca4a1ba5&website_id=3a38d1c4-2509-42da-84b4-03016c15049b&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmustangsurvival.com%2Fcollections%2Fwomens-dry-suits%2Fproducts%2Fwomens-helix-dry-suit-msd250

Bigger is better as it holds more air so it acts as a flotation device. You don't even need a PDF at all!
