I enjoyed watching this again after pulling the trigger on the last pair of Spruce Kudu available on the Parkhurst website. As part of their 15% promotion for Thanksgiving, it was difficult to resist buying them and indulging myself yet again (I'm pretty bad about this boot stuff and might need rehab). It's encouraging for me to hear that this 602 and the Leo are good fits for you -- the Leo works very well for me in terms of fit and is so aesthetically pleasing, so I believe this 602 will also be good for me. I always like your comments on how one last might compare with another, as it helps with sizing and purchasing decisions. Great video!

You have one of my favorite boot channels on KZbin! You carry yourself very well and always provide important details and information. Keep up the good work friend! Blessings from all the way in Colorado!

A pair of Parkhurst Cumulus Blue Allen Boots arrived today. I prefer green but I already have a pair of Grant Stone Jungle Kangaroo Diesel and plan to get a pair of their Forest Kudu. The Parkhurst looks great, and I would order more, but unfortunately they offer only lug outsoles on their boots. Now that I am older, I prefer leather or, a bit less so, rubber studs. I probably will wait until Parkhurst offer those options before I order another pair. I wish more bootmakers offer leather outsole with embedded studs, not a whole sheet of rubber, but a few studs embedded into the leather. To me, that's best of both worlds.

I have suede boots from Cheaney in similar green colour, made on Vi-lite Vibram soles. Parkhurst in Spruce Kudu would be great alternative for rainy days but sadly they really are not available. (remaining pieces of wide US 8 and 8,5 are visible online, and as some others commented, made on commando sole)

Would be interesting to hear how other boot makers use this leather.

Had a pair of these for awhile. Loved them! Unfortunately they fit too big, and I got tired of wearing super thick hiking socks. I sold them off, and kind of miss the comments, "You're boots are...GREEN."

Love the Spruce Kudu, unfortunately didn’t find out about them while they were live. Did end up getting a pair of the Grant Stone Cap toe boots in Forest Kudu but still hoping Parkhurst makes another run of theirs.

i'm impressed with the Kudu research and info. Always wondered if they hunted them for the leather. I would recommend conditioning the boots when you get them, never know how long the leather has been sitting around.

That was a brilliant review of the Parkhurst Allen boot. and probably among the best I've seen for a lengthy boot review. No unnecessary moments in the video, all well thought through systematically, methodically. Good add-on shots for pairing, great explanation even for hardcore boot lovers like me. Just seeing how someone thoughtfully puts forth the presentation in a balanced, respectful way is a real treat in today's melodramatic video world. Thank you for that! I have a question. How does the shank of the soft Kudu feel as a boot? A boot is supposed to be supportive for the ankle, That's one of the main jobs it supposed to do. The other is to keep dirt that's flipped from the back-kick of a step out compared to a shoe. So, Chelsea boots certain don't provide and ankle support. How about Kudu leather? I guess the comparison would be to another well-built lace-up boot like the RW Blacksmiths or Beckmans. I'm curious. Thanks for the answer in advance!

I don’t think you’ll climb Mt Everest with these but the kudu isn’t really as soft as you’d think. I distinguish between soft and supple. To me, they don’t feel different to the other boots you mention, especially if it fits right and is laced up supportively. Chelsea’s can’t be “tightened” and so don’t give that type of support you speak if, but don’t forget, a “real” Chelsea like an RM Williams are made for horse riding and range work, like a cowboy boot. Hey, thanks for the kind words!
