Review Of The Proviz Reflect360 Cycling Jacket
Now that it is Winter and the hours of daylight are reduced, us cyclists need to been seen and clearly visible to other road users when cycling at night.
In this vlog I review one of the Proviz Reflect360 cycling jacket.
A reflective jacket is an essential piece of cycling kit if you are riding at night and this is one of the most popular products from UK company Proviz who are one of the leading companies in the field of reflective cycle clothing.

I bought my Proviz Reflect 360 18 months ago for use on my daily commute to work. Probably the best £100 i've spent (that was the price back then). I've been stopped by car drivers asking where to get one from because they are so visible at night.

I simply can not think of any other place in the world where I can get reviews of and information on cycling clothing I can wear! Period. That being said, I loved your review of the cycling Jersey you did a while back until I seen the price. I would need two jobs to afford that thing. But this jacket makes much more sense, and based on this review I think it makes sense for my riding and I am going to get one! Thank you for your good work Sir 👍🏼 Just hope they ship to America.

Very interesting review. The product is a welcome addition to what's currently available no doubt! A quick question to you and subscribers. I have gone out for a few night rides clad in my Altura ” Night Visiion ” long bibs and yellow jacket with reflective patches. I have a 150 lumen front light and a good bright red rear light set in flash mode. Cars frequently "Beep me " from front and rear. I take this to indicate " We see you we are telling you we are near " Are my jacket patches and lights too bright ? I have front light set so its not in the motorists eyes ? Night riding is an area needing a bit more careful evaluation for safety reasons. Thanks for your input.

I’ve not been touting for one of these jackets at all, but my wife has obviously been paying attention when I told her about these and was concerned enough for my safety, that yesterday an early birthday present arrived for me from her! A different make, but essentially the same jacket! She had canvassed the friend who showed me theirs the day you released your video and I told my wife about it as soon as I saw her, then your video appeared. I thought she was impervious to cycling talk too! I feel very lucky and very visible! She also flattered me with her sizing choice. It cycling snug on me. I have a rain jacket that I like but it has a hood. So I tuck it inside under the back. Might work with your collar in front. I find it best to depart cold and bring extra layers in case I don't warm up enough. All hard shell rain jackets short of those made of gortex are sweaty. And soft shells eventually let some rain in. The equation is will the rain make you wetter than the sweat?

That is the burning question, although I think the main selling point of this jacket is it’s reflective ability rather than it’s waterproof qualities.

Hi Leonard, nice review. I got the running version of this jacket and also a vest. The running jacket is ventilated fully on the back and not reflective. Moisture vapor will come out through the vis fabric but it does keep big drops like rain out. I agree with you on your points about daytime visibility and how it glows in a spot of light when out in the dark. I'd rather be visible, warm, and a bit sweaty (since most jackets don't ventilate particularly well anyway, so that's basically a wash). The vest I got for cycling to wear over my warmer cycling kit, which is, of course, black like so much other cycling clothing. I didn't feel the need for another cycling jacket since I'm happy with the performance of what I have and just wanted to add some visibility for night/early morning rides. Like you, I don't do those very often anyway.

I've got the Switch gillet with the yellow hi viz, great in the day time otherwise you're blending in to the grey scenery. However the lack of sleeves mean traffic can't see you indicating at night. Although they can see the reflective body from space. Probably.

We have these in NZ and I've been admiring them for years but they are very expensive, and no retailer will stock anything above 2XL (same for bikes - low volumes mean it's near impossible to find an XL on the shop floor). Thanks to you, I have bought a gilet in a larger size and at a sale price (I couldn't find a link or code above to give you credit for the sale) I hope Proviz gives you a smaller jacket and/or gilet for the business you seem to have drummed up - those sleeves are way too long. If they do, consider regifting your 4xl to the 6'8" guy who commented. It's Xmas after all and my sizing issues are likely not a patch on his.

i do love the idea of a fully reflective jacket but ive seen a few people use this product and unfortunately they always look like a very loose fit, for me on a road bike I want something that feels more close fitting and sporty than something that flaps in the wind. I bought the gillet 4 years ago. I got the reverseable one, so you can have it as hi-viz yellow during the day and reflective during the dark hours. My impression when first wearing it on a winter audax at night was that cars did seem to give me plenty of room as they must have been able to see me a mile away. On the downside, as you have said, it is a sweat-box, and even in the gillet your body does get quite damp.

I have the cycling gilet and it gives that extra confidence for night riding and I have even used it for running. It does also have a breathable back mesh section that is useful when carrying a rucksack to work as it helps stop excessive sweating. Great stuff Leonard. I bought the gilet a few years ago for winter commuting and I love it, the fleece colour feels really nice when zipped up, but you can still use long sleeve jerseys and base layers to regulate your temperature. The only downside for me is that I wear a backpack when commuting so it covers up a large part of the reflective surface, however, there are stickers from 3M, called Pogo I think, that I slapped all over the bag, and their reflectivity matches the Proviz. Winner all round.

I do a lot of my winter riding during the week and these have to be fitted in after work so this is my go to jacket. I have a couple of other Gore jackets (C7 & InfiniumThermo) that are a million times more breathable than this that I wear at the weekend but nothing lets you be seen by other road users like the 360. I purchased the jacket a couple of years ago because I was concerned that even with good lights I was getting too many close passes there was a marked improvement as soon as I started using this. My only criticism is that even with the under arm zips open it's about as breathable as a wet bin liner when you are pushing hard but it's a price worth paying.

Hi, I would never have thought you were 4 XL. Plus it seemed to me you were losing some weight. I try never to ride at night, PA has too many potholes 😡 My son in law is into weight lifting and he wears a 2XL. He is about 6’ 1” & is 245 pounds.

Not sure I am a 4XL. I just assumed. I would be interested to try the next size down.

I have the same jacket only it's the Ettore version. The proviz version has a breathable version.

Thanks for that Millie. It didn’t get a little warm so a more breathable one would be better for me.

I would recommend the switch 360 Gilet. Just to keep the heat down. If Proviz want to send me one out to try I'm a size small ,😂👍

Try Galibier Tourmalet jacket or the gillet pro-viz as it gives you more ventilation

@@jollygoodvelo Yep, saw that at the end of the video after I had made my comment. I have a blue reversible pro viz gillet and its brilliant. Galibire clothing is worth a look at but I am not sure if they do 4xl sizes!

The Plus version is breathable, whereas the non-plus is not. I have had one about 3 years which is great for slower rides but a sauna with any exertion, wish I had sized up for a bit more airspace inside

Never see me out on a bicycle at night. Try to keep in mind that statistics reported that 1 out of every 7 cars on the road after dark have an alcohol impaired driver. Match that with the idiots that think they can use a smart phone better than anybody else while driving and your risk of getting hit are almost guarantied. Yes, I may be sounding a bit negative about riding a bike at night but it's hard enough to stay safe during daylight hours, why would anyone risk certain death just to ride their bike.

That’s an interesting statistic about intoxicated drivers. I would be very interested to know what country that refers to. I like to think that I would be lower here in the U.K.
