Review of TRIX (Märklin) SJ Rc 6

Please note that the different models shown are not models of the exact same prototype. The old Märklin is Rc 1, the TRIX is Rc 6 and the Roco is Rc3. That explains most differences you might see between the models regarding external features. From my point of view, the comparison is about the construction of the models.

Thank you for this review. I have been hesitant about purchasing this model for my railroad even though I need it. Getting them imported to Canada is very expensive and not many hobby stores here carry them. I do have several Trix and Roco locomotives and am pleased with the operation of both manufacturers. And thank you for allowing english subtitles. I am trying to learn Swedish, but it's a slow process without someone to converse with regularly. Keep up the good work. Tack!

Jag har just hittat din kanal! Imponerande, stort tack! I have not had good experience with Trix modells, although I have only a Hectorail Traxx from a set wich is plastic and a V60 shunter with digital coupler. I don´t like them. BUT!!! This video is just showing a wide overview of the Trix RC6 which now seems to be beautiful and well functioning. If we want to compare with Roco RC models: that is a shame in the twenties that Roco still have couplers integrated into the bogie. Unbiliveable!!! I have been frustrated for many years because of it! I have many Roco RC modells but after your video summary I am definitely going to buy a Trix one. (even if I have to spend 611 EUR for TC 10 Gold in this year) Tack för din kanal, prenumeration samt like har gått!

Hi and thanks! 😎I think the most important is that neither model have the plow integrated on the bogie. That was a bit annoying with the old Roco model. Regarding the couplers, I haven't really decided which construction I like the most. Sure, I think the chassi mounted slot-guides (combined with close couplers) looks way better. But I have experienced some issues with very heavy trains. Locos with bogie mounted couplers don't seem to have any problems at all, but some locos with chassi mounted slot guides often shows a small but noticeable "wobbling" when pulling these very heavy trains. With shorter/lighter trains there are of course never any problems. Without having done a full research on this, I guess it simply has to do with the point where forces are applied. A bogie will always follow the tracks exactly in a linear movement, while the chassi has a flexible mount on the bogies, allowing for some sideways movement. Any movement in the slot mechanism will the be transfered to the chassi. Some models are worse than others. I did not notice any such problems with this model though. Likely it's due to the weight, in combination with a quality slot guide.

@@TrainmasterSweden Thanks for giving fast response! I haven´t experienced such a problem, however I have never had trains longer than 5 coach of 303 mm. I also try to avoid tight curves. I don´t want to use R2 for example (I am talking about Roco Line). But nowadays I have to focus to rail materials (and TC as I mentioned) rather than rolling units. I´ve just started to build my layout and it requires huge financial effort. I am going to start my KZbin channel at spring of the next year.

I Bought 2x heritage livery (orange with white stripe) 2023 Trix locos along with 2 of these black current livery locos and era 5 & 6 passenger cars. I haven't had a train set for a very long time, but these trains left a great deal of memories for me when my father had to work in Sweden at the Karolinska Institute for his schooling. My mom would walk me under a bridge in Stockholm on our way to an international school and I would see the 1980's SJ rc trains in all their glory quickly go to one side of the bridge to the other side. It would have one loco on the front and one on the back with 60's passengers cars in between. So this year nostalgia took over and I got some trains back to start over again. My father bought me an SJ Rc trainset while in Stockholm, but I was too young to take care of it and one of the pantographs got caught on a carpet and tore a bit of it off. I wish I was more careful as a kid and took care of it as they were probably very expensive. My father specifically bought me the SJ Rc1 with 3 or 4 passenger coaches. I can't remember if it was Marklin. I think it was 2 rail. I never knew what happened to the coaches. I was very young at the time.

Thanks for the review, including English translation! I loved the old Roco model, and it is still very good but there's something nice about metal construction and these days having to fit a mountain of additional parts feels backwards when so many models are fully assembled. I find Marklin/Trix generally make a quality product. I bought an orange and a black Trix, and although my old Roco versions are still good and not disgraced next to the newer model I definitely prefer the Trix.

Bra informativ och detaljeringar om loket! Det är fullt möjligt att Märklin/Trix kommer ändra om dekoderns inställning om det nya orange Rc loket. Men det kan genomföras så via dekoder mfx uppgraderingar via CS3. Frågan är om Märklin kommer att genomföra det? Zimos ljud dekodrar är mycket bättre.

Ja, Märklin kan (om de vill) med lätthet genomföra dessa saker. Om det går via CS3 eller på annat sätt är däremot högst osäkert, Märklin brukar nämligen låsa åtkomligheten för väldigt många ändringar som kan göras. Viva Zimo. Viva ESU. :D

Märklin skriver dumt nog vilka av deras centraler som stöder vad, istället för vilka protokoll som stöds. Men i kolumnerna MS II och CS II/III har du svaret, samtliga funktioner finns tillgängliga för DCC.

Rakt svar: NEJ! 🙂 Dels kommer jag aldrig att köpa dem, och dels skulle det göra mig till ovän med alla inbitna Märklinfans. 😄 Som ren konsumentupplysning kan jag väl ändå säga att de är helt fel i längdskala, och att vagntyperna har aldrig funnits som svarta. En ren fantasiprodukt mao. Vill du ha "rätt" vagnar till detta lok, så kika på HNoll. Om du har snäv budget så finns även Roco som begagnat.

@@TrainmasterSweden Many thanks for your answer. Maybe Märklin asked a German native to record the audio. If so, it is a shame, obviously. I have a French locomotive made by Roco. The audio calls are OK but with a slight German accent, which can be acceptable if we say that it is used in the Alsace area ☺ Funny note: there is a special announcement stating that the train will depart with some delay (Germany having some laugh on France, I guess 😋) As for your detailed review, it makes one wanting to add a Swedish train consist on one's layout 😉 Cheers!

Det är väl snart dags för uppföljare tänkte på Trix RC5 1364 finns nu att köpa. sen undrar jag om inte Roco kommer med nya modeller. kommer säkert att kontra framöver.

Nya modeller kommer löpande, men det nya här var själva grundkonstruktionen som Märklin nu gjort om totalt för första gången sedan 1968. Hur modellerna sedan är målade och utrustade är en annan femma. Den nya TRIX Rc5 1364 är i princip identisk med denna modell rent tekniskt, så det finns inte mycket att följa upp tänker jag. Roco gjorde sin omkonstruktion 2014, och inget talar för att de kommer att ändra den på ett antal år ännu. Nya målningar kommer vi däremot säkert att få se.

Liten comment om förpackningar och bipackningar. De bör sparas med vördnad då en begagnad modell i originalkartong och alla tillbehör blir avsevärt mycket attraktivare på marknaden. Så man kanske inte ska slänga dem på golvet, även om jag hajar den touchen i videon, som måste ges 10 av 10 på betygsskalan 😊
