Bart, that was a great review! I like the way you compared the old pack to your new one. I am looking forward to hearing from you in 6,9 or 12 months to see if your fix regarding the back airflow on the Ultra works.

Nice review and comparison between the two packs. I have the Arc Haul 62L like your orange pack. I also found the rounded vertical stays to move to the side. I ended up ordering the new Arc Haul squarish vertical stays from your second pack and installed them on my original pack. They work. I do like the way you can adjust the pack many ways like you said. John from MI

Great review Bart! I grabbed one of these about a month ago & used it on Tasmania’s South Coast Track. I loved it, though if you are considering one, like you point out, make sure you get the extra back pad. I also got add on hip and shoulder bags which I think are essential with this pack. Take care

Thank you for the very helpful review! Like you, I find that the Arc Haul's buckle hits my shoulder blade and causes some discomfort, and it even creates pilling on some of my clothes. So, I'm very interested in your solution. How do you make and attach the foam pad to prevent the buckle from hitting? I would appreciate it if you could share. Thanks in advance and happy trails!

The foam was glued to a thin piece of plastic. The plastic was attached to the pack with a couple of zip ties to the straps.

Yes, all of Zpacks backpacks have their seams taped.

Isn't anyone else sick and tired of all the suspension system trade-offs for 1 to 2 lbs? I'm about done. That old Exos is the move.

A sweaty back is a huge annoyance.

This pack is a piece of junk. Life lesson. When you are asked to buy a car without test driving there is a reason. Zpack does just that with their packs. We spent $1,000 for two packs that would not carry any weight. To add to the problem every time we called Zpack they came back with a different lie of the weight it will carry. The response was always in ratio to what weight we said we were carrying. When we said we had 25 lbs we were told it would carry 30. When we said 30 in a different call they said 35. This pack would be nothing more than a very expensive day pack. We hiked the whole AT and saw one other Zpack. When we saw that young land again, she had traded hers in for another pack. PLEASE DO NOT BE SUCKED IN BY THE FAKE VIDEOS THAT ZPACK PUTS ON KZbin. These not unbiased reviews. If you see a video that just praises this bag and sounds like an infomercial, I will guarantee that is exactly what it is.
