Having owned one of these for a year and using it in two hour stretches for the boating season to strictly scrub the deck of my sailboat, I think the reviewer is out to lunch. He offers opinion but not much fact. So after two years of service how has this scrubber performed. 1. It’s a great idea and it uses the RYOBI standard 18 VDC batteries. Very handy if your a RYOBI user. 2. The length and telescope capabilities as well as the rotational head are great. 3. The medium brush is ok for light and medium jobs but those heavy bird kill and droppings on deck needs more stiffness. 4. The big RYOBI 18 VEC LI battery will keep running way past you and a 40’ boat deck. 5. The unit has failed and the internal clutch has bought the farm. There is a safety clutch inside the unit and it has quit and constantly slips and stops scrubbing. This makes the unit totally ineffective and ready for the junk pile. I will be contacting Ryobi to get it repaired or replaced.

Thanks for this review, this is the best I've seen. Everything else glosses over the issues. The proprietary connector is definitely a deal breaker.

This product does everything I need. I'm an eighty y.o guy who suffers with arthritis and osteoporosis which limits my movements. The telescopic handle adjustment and brush attachment I can manage quite easily. Great product for bathroom grout cleaning.

You're all wet. I have this scrubber and it's fantastic! No, you shouldn't over-tighten the handle bolt. My handle is tight enough that it doesn't move and the nut hasn't moved in the plastic (because I didn't over-tighten it). The speed is perfect. I use mine to scrub floors. It doesn't fling the soap and dirt all over the surrounding walls because it's turning at the right speed. Did you even USE this tool?

I had a similar problem with the handle on mine, it turns out that the screw was not machined properly and I couldn't tighten it down. It took me about 20 minutes of monkeying with it before I got it to work but now I'm afraid that the nut will strip out the plastic because it takes a lot of force to tighten the handle. Also, I hate that I can't run this in reverse, I have to go back to using my power drill for some jobs. I'm hoping that someone will offer an adapter that will allow for the use of hex shank brushes because I have a ton of those. If I had a 3D printer I'd make my own.

Is there a way to keep it on without having to press the button. I have a hard time holding my finger all the time to make it work

I believe that it’s an on/off toggle button. Press it once and it stays on, press again to turn it off.

Why the Chuck? If it did reverse why? Because it doesn’t. A whole minute wasted explaining why “if” but they didn’t

not true abt the 4ah max batt size: it will take (a same gen & previous bulkier) in a 6ah w room to spare (current 6 is same size as the 4 anyway),. actually, i bel it even takes the old 9's (my power washer does for sure, but perhaps has a larger cradle /if so, they are interchangeable). don't sleep on watthours, common belief is they don't produce additional power but this is untrue .. btw, new 21700 cells coming soon in an 8 & 12ah; the 8 i'm certain will fit /& give it some extra go.. yess, rpm is slow but torque at relative speed holds its load.. works well w a bucket of soap water (or appropriate chemical mixture) on textured stucco, or for washing cars, it even cleaned my gutters up nice, etc.. don't love it /but personally have no gripe w handle, & do have positive opinion of the head locking mechanism. not an argument, just my opinion.. u haven't seem the new one yet? that's sum to rant about: they added a soap dispenser (& abt 75$); nothing else!. items like this, u have particular use for, find for the right price or hard pass (honestly sounds like u overpaid:/). just again, ur opinions & arguments are valid /save the max battery size info is totally incorrect (also, im just seeing this is a year old!).. Personally, i had 2-gripes of my own: low rpm (but steady & completely waterproof); also the brush heads seem overrated: whereas heavy is adequate for med applications, & med works well on soft brush applications, but the blue i see little use for less you've got a friend that's ripe & thinks there's sharks in the tank(!); u can prob give em a safe scrub from a distance. i'd honestly like to see a more rigid masonry head... to me tho, its all about up-to-date adult-size batteries, not this kids junk running the same 18650's for almost a decade

@@rickysmith1687 i bought this and it works ok, its not a fast spinner but has a lot of torque, bought the soft medium and hard brushes and cleaned the car, scrubbed the block paving, did a great job on my conservatory roof, door frames and soffits also comes in handy for patio furniture and the bottom of paddling pools, mine hasnt broke yet and i hope it doesnt but for what it is, its a great little tool and comes in handy for lots of jobs, i would miss mine

handle flaw i could care less. my biggest rant. the flexible head. I find if you place "too" much downward pressure the power head snaps back. I agree with the oem brushes. maybe there is a way to hack and put a standard connector.

you can hack it with jb weld and a 1/2 to 1/4 hex adapter, and I thought about doing it but I decided its still not worth it.
