Great video Dan, and so good to hear your comments after a year of use. I've had mine since February, have trolled about 400 miles in her so far, and am loving it. Like you, I do have a few tiny niggles, which I think I can rectify, but that's not what I'm here for. With regards to your paddle, here's something you can try with your Epic (if you haven't already). You have it set at 213cm. If you're on the water for a long time and are starting to find it harder to paddle, try shortening your shaft down to 211 or 210. It will make a big difference and you will feel a lot better! The rear hatch. Here in Okinawa we don't need to go through any surf, so the hatch has been perfect for me, so far. I don't know if you watch Live 2 Fish, but matey there just got a brand new 575 and I noticed that he has the old screw hatch-cover on his. I've no idea if Stealth have gone back to making them standard, or if Roscoe ordered it. It may be an easy thing to replace - worth looking into. All the best for many more years in your happy place! Owen

I just watched Roscoe’s review of his new 575. I’m really envious of the transducer recess on the new Stealth builds! I need to figure out how to convince my wife that I need two Stealth kayaks! I will definitely try shortening my paddle on my next outing. Thanks for the tip!🎣😃

Great to see you out on the water, as usual. Nice review. As much paddling that you are doing, you'll soon look like Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Kudos to you sir for showing us that age is not necessarily a defining factor in the ability to get out there. Nice to see the stealth being enjoyed by guys in the US. Greetings from South Africa.

Thanks Andrew! Paddling and fishing are definitely two good ways to keep you going strong, both physically and mentally!🎣😃

Great video, I have been paddling an older generation Stealth fisha for years, an excellent fishing kayak and my wife also likes paddling it. Just some advice regarding the epic, if you are starting to feel weak after long paddles, try and shorten the shaft every so slightly. Makes the paddling easier, in contrast, if you need more power/speed lengthen the shaft. The length of the shaft is like a geat lever.

Thanks for the review. Love my Viking Reload and have a walk around video of that. But always interested in what else is out there and what they are like. Thanks for putting this up.

I finally pulled the trigger and put a deposit down on a 525 last week with Reuben. Like you, I'm going into a Stealth sight unseen, but from watching many videos on the Stealth product I'm became convinced that the Stealth platform had to be a more capable surf platform than the Hobie. This video definitely confirmed my thoughts. I did a couple "Fishin' Mission" trips with Fast Lane in Mission Bay and never really connected with any of the Hobie platforms. They all felt like I was trapped on top of a giant plastic bobber. Home base for me is Carlsbad CA and I'm only 5 min away from S Carlsbad/Leucadia beaches. I wouldn't feel safe attempting a Hobie launch in the 3'-4' typical beach break from these beaches! Maintaining patience during the delivery phase is going to be challenging...It would be great to see your setup if/when you make it back down the the San Diego area.

You will absolutely love your new 525! Your whole mindset changes when it comes to surf launches in a Stealth. When you no longer have to worry about your gear, it makes surf launching way more relaxing and way more fun! Also, the Profisha 525 is going to be a really fast kayak! It weighs less and it’s narrower than my Fisha 555. Let me know when it arrives… I definitely want to see some pictures. You can direct message me at @losthorizonfishing on Instagram. Congratulations on an awesome purchase!Have you decided on which paddle you are going with?

Thanks for the review Dan - Helped me decide on going ahead with one too! I hope I’m as energetic and fit when / if I reach your age; god willing :) Great inspiration to keep us (young guys) going! All the best.

I’ve had my 555 for about the same time that you’ve had yours, Dan. Loved the review and agree that it’s a top class fishing kayak. We fish anything from 2 to 4km offshore here in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, targeting yellowtail and Cape Salmon, which we call geelbek ( translated as “yellow mouth” from Afrikaans).

The Fisha 555 really is an awesome fishing machine! I have two Hobie Mirage Drive Kayaks and I haven’t used either of them in over a year. The Stealth is just to much fun!🎣😀

No better kayak for open water than a stealth! Any kayak is fine when it is nice water, but if I am dumb enough and get my butt caught out in a bad sea, wind kicks up I want my Stealth -

Hi, I bought a Fisha 500 and now I am looking for a paddle. What Epic paddle are you using?. I guess I will be the only one in the North East coast trolling for stripers on a Fisha 500. Thanks for your videos.
@losthorizonfishing1073 жыл бұрын
Hi Eduardo… I’m using an Epic Small Mid-Wing Paddle in club carbon (carbon fiber blades with fiberglass shaft). It weighs in at 24oz and is adjustable from 210 to 220cm. It is an excellent paddle for rapid acceleration and works amazing in the surf, but it can be fatiguing for all day fishing sessions! Keep in mind that I’m 68 years old! If you’re a younger guy in good shape, it should be a great paddle for you. You will love your new Fisha 500! When it comes to trolling, there’s no better kayak than a Stealth! You will be able to paddle faster and farther than any of your buddies in “peddle” kayaks… you will be better in the surf… and you will be safer in rough ocean conditions!🎣😃

I can comment that same issue with the hatch happened to me.
@losthorizonfishing1073 жыл бұрын
So interesting… you would think it would not be possible. The first time it happened, I wrote if as a “senior moment.” After that I always give a good tug on the hatch cover before paddling back in through the surf. So when it happened two more times I was like hmmm 🤔!!
@martins.71753 жыл бұрын
@@losthorizonfishing107 mine rolled a few time before I caught up to it, I thought maybe the sand did it but same second time I thought water did it. I am waiting to see if it happens a third time. I will ask in the Stealth USA FB group
@locomotivebreth19108 ай бұрын
Could the hatch be popping open from explosive internal air pressure due to breaking surf on the flexible hull?
@losthorizonfishing1078 ай бұрын
I had not considered that… but that’s a possibility for sure. However, each time it happened, the locking lever ended up in the “open position.”

If you set that paddle to your length you will benefit more from speed. You cant just use any lenhht paddle. Set it to your length.
