Nice open wagon. I admit I now have a favourite LNER tank engine: the 0-6-0 J72. Do you have a favourite LNER tank engine?

NEM COMPLIANT POCKETS OR OXFORD RAILS NON STANDARD TYPE ??? Yes but does this wagon have proper NEM pockets that meet the NEM officially agreed European measurements, which are of course designed to accept ALL European manufacturers couplings and the American Kadee NEM coupling types ???? I found a number of Oxford Rail GWR wagon types had a reduced size NON NEM compliant pocket size, requiring me to rebuild the wagon chassis so I can add the Kadee Buckeye auto magnetically uncoupleable type couplers !!!! Further it would be so much more realistic and useful if all manufacturers applied proper sprung buffers to wagons, as this allows even more realistic gaps between wagons !!!!
@AdiPullenАй бұрын
@@railwaymechanicalengineer4587 i have a hornby coupler in here. Works perfectly fine for me Sprung buffers are pointless in oo gauge
@railwaymechanicalengineer4587Ай бұрын
@@AdiPullen Not if you are reducing gaps between wagons to real life. Then you need sprung buffers in the curves just as in real life !!!!
@AdiPullenАй бұрын
@railwaymechanicalengineer4587 but as it stands in oo gauge they pointless

@@railwaymechanicalengineer4587 From what I could see the pockets on this model are the correct ones. I have a few of the short ones as well and also use Kadees, the way I've got round the problem is to use a small piece of black wire sleeve pushed on to one of the prongs once the coupling is fitted this prevents it from sliding back and forth in the pocket and is easily removable.

@@AdiPullen Funny but British based modellers seem to be the only ones in all Europe, ignorant of the NEM Conference in Germany back in 1989. Which was attended by ALL European based manufacturers. Where agreements were made to upgrade and refine many aspects of railway modelling, introducing standardisation to many technical areas, to benefit ALL manufacturers. It was in reality mentioned in Peco magazines such as "Railway Modeller" at the time. As Peco where a major player at that conference, and contributed much to the introduction of Code 75 track (itself using British not metric measurements !) and refined wheel standards to replace the old outdated Code 100 standards. In other words running model trains with Code 75 wheels on Code 100 track or Visa Versa, will create running issues (spurious derailments), particularly through pointwork. Something even that KZbin "reviewer" "Sam's Trains" is totally ignorant of !!!!
