I’ve always enjoyed Richard Wright’s “Wet Dream”. I first bought it in 1979. Steven Wilson really brightened the sound, which it deserves. My favourite track is “Holiday”.

By far my favourite solo album by PF members. Heard the original till exaustion. Always liked the way it sounded, but this is a very nice mix, feels like I'm rediscovering it all over again.

Pete, you should try the album Broken China from Mr Wright, a very Floydian album.

The CD was released July 28, which would've been Richard's 80th birthday. I had the LP when it came out and liked it a lot, especially the tranquil "Mediterranean C," "Mad Yannis Dance" and "Pink's Song." Looking forward to your review Pete.

Thought it was a lovely album when it was released, around a similar time to David Gilmour's debut solo release if I remember correctly. Will be well impressed if Mr Wilson can improve it significantly. Thanks for the review, Pete

@@RustyfaetheShire I like Gilmour's solo work a lot more, his first s/t solo album from the same year (1978) is really good. It's got more 'grit' for lack of a better term, not as laid back/placid with more fire. Plus I'm a guitar guy, and I've always liked Gilmour's vocals too

@wolf1977 I preferred Gilmour's debut too, although Wright's follow up Broken China is a terrific album. Called himself Rick on that one just to confuse matters!

I love it! I have Gilmour's 1st album & is my favorite as I also have ALL David's solo albums. I learned about Wet Dream in 1982 & looked for it in record shops occasionally. Finally many yrs later when we can just simply listen to it on KZbin, I did so. I enjoy it very much & I pull it up from time to time & enjoy it again. I never have bought it, & I didn't realize there was a reissue. I love it! Certainly better than Roger's solo albums imo. I like it better than David's about face & I may even rank it higher on my list than rattle that lock. Snowy White is good on the album & ofcourse Reg. I am also a big Trower fan! Sax is great too btw. I love Richard's singing & instrumentation throughout! They certainly know how to pick guitarists for their solo albums! Snowy(Wright) Clapton(Waters), Gilmour(Mason, Gilmour), & isn't Townsend on about face? @least as a writer anyway I can't remember the details. I'll have to look that info up & I will be giving this reissue version of wet dream a listen very soon. Thanks Pete

Had always heard good things about this album, but never actually heard it myself. If Steven Wilson has deemed this one worthy of his attention, maybe it`s time to check it out.

I had never heard this before either, but I do remember it coming out. I went onto KZbin and listened to the Steven Wilison remix. It is a pleasant listen. I remember Snowy White as a member of Thin Lizzy, who plays guitar on this.

My copy arrived on Monday. The inside gate fold is of the original album cover. I like that Richard did it like Pink Floyd before Dark Side, instrumentals mixed with vocals tracks. I had a smile on my face when it ended so I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. (I was typing that rating while watching the video about 30 seconds before your rating. I had the feeling... ) 😀

I was still very young when this album was first released but I recall that it wasn't particularly well received in the UK music press at the time. That didn't stop me getting it but I got rid of my OG many years ago. However, I got this new version on vinyl and I have to say that the album is much better than I remembered. Maybe because of the remix or maybe because I am much older and my appreciation of the music is more fine tuned. Or a bit of both. But I think this is a great album and I am a little sorry Rick isn't still around to see it.

I thought it was real good and give it a 4 star. Anything that sounds like PF is great. Pete is correct it's overall like mild PF.

I've always loved this album (as well as Gilmore's first album from the same era). Lacking in bombast is so telling. I rarely listen to Pink Floyd's "big four" anymore, preferring more musical and less bombastic albums like Atom Heart Mother, the two solo albums mentioned, as well as the other, lesser known PF albums. (And let's not even start on Water's unlistenable remake of Dark Side ...)

I bought this when it first came out and was sadly disappointed. I wanted to like it but it was just plain dull. Saying that I’ll give the remix a listen, I still want to like it.

I have the original, TBH I was never that crazy about this record. Too laid back (some correctly call his solo stuff "tranquil"), it's largely missing that PF 'fire' & the memorable song hooks (Wright writes everything here). Actually this is the only RW solo album I own (this is his first from '78), I like "Cat Cruise", "Drop In From The Top" & "Funky Deux". Some good 'guests' here like Reg Isidore, Snowy White & Mel Collins...I'm sure Wilson does a good remixing job but the album is what it is, I don't have enough interest in it to drop the $'s on a remix. It's available as a 5.1 Surround/Dolby Atmos version (probably really cool for those with that type of music setup who also like this album)...
