For photography and video quality (if you know how to adjust the parameters like S-Log) I prefer the a6000 since much better than M3. M3 video wins for its performance. But beware the M3 does not record 1080p at 60fps (only do in 720p) and the a6000 does.

I'm on the fence between these two but the colour on the Canon looks much better, and I liked the response of the auto focus better on the Canon as well. The lack of articulating screen on the Sony is also a downfall for me. Great video review!

mike just buy a videomicro rode mic and a recorder like a zoom h1 or a fosto d50 the fosto d50 and videomicro all together there under 100$ so buying a canon m3 or a canon m10 or a sony 5100 or a sony 6000 youll be under650$ but its worth it

Had both, sold the A6000. It's rubbish compared to the Canon in my opinion. The Sony may have faster AF but it is less accurate. I missed many shots due to the super quick yet inaccurate AF system on the Sony camera (especially in low light). Their advertised "best AF" is mere hype. Image quality is very similar but Canon generates a more pleasant color palette and deeper, more saturated tones without being gearish. Sony colors are horrible. You have to shoot RAW with the A6000 whereas the Canon produces very pleasing JPEGs and excellent RAW files. Cannot be totally corrected in post processing. External EVF is actually a strength, not a weakness. The external EVF on the M3 is much nicer than the built-in EVF on the A6000. Ext EVF's can be replaced or updated (ie., DSC-EVF-2), internal ones cannot. Canon build quality, handling, ergonomics and menu system (not to mention the touch LCD) are vastly superior to the A6000 which quite frankly, feels and handles like a child's toy camera. The Sony kit lens (16-50) is basically garbage. That's no secret. You are forced to upgrade the lens almost as soon as you buy the A6000 (gee, what a shame for Sony). EF-M lenses are brilliant little gems that don't cost much and produce sharp images. The 22/2 has no equal in the Sony lens lineup in price, size and quality. Then you can easily and efficiently adapt the largest lens lineup in the world to any EOS M system body without penalty and many EF-S lenses are very inexpensive and quite sharp (55-250 anyone?). Have you priced Sony lenses lately? Good grief.

Need to know your products and subject matter before making a video, youngblood. You say the sensors are the same, then proceed to call the sensors different. I think you meant to say the mount was larger, as that’s what you show when saying it, but that has no impact on the depth of field. Sensors are the same.
