Purchased one of these back in February, got the blue face and strap. A lovely watch, great style, got a good deal which made it even better.

Thanks for the review and showing the Patek, so I can get a better sense of the differences. From my research the first TV case shaped Mido was released in 1973 and it was Gerald Genta inspired. With the success of the Patek Aquanaut and the AP Royal Oak which were designed by Genta, a lot of different watch brands were releasing similar watches in the 70's, including higher end "luxury" brands. I think Mido does a good job of taking inspiration from the Patek without being a complete rip off.

MIDO has done a fantastic job with the TV Big Date for sure. It's an incredible value IMO. If you haven't seen the MIDO Multistar from the 70s, you should check it out - www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/12brao6/mido_multistar_tvface_from_the_70s_rescued_and/

@@ConstantCadence Hey Matt! Thought I'd let you know, since your video got me to do it.. I just bought my first "serious" watch (other than a couple of g-shocks I've owned previously) this saturday. I decided on a black/gray dial Mido Multifort TV Big Date with a bracelet. Truly thankful to have found your channel, happy holidays!
@ConstantCadence26 күн бұрын
@@tomasroznovjak3089 That is AWESOME! I'm actually wearing mine now. You are going to love the watch for years to come. I also highly recommend the rubber strap if thats something your interested in - the orange is amazing with your dial. Happiest of holidays to you, Tomas!

I hope that this is a hit for Mido. It really doesn't look like anything else out there which is nice.

Agree! It's a great value IMO at around $1k.

The Aqua-not! Or is it the Not-ilus? I've been considering the blue dial/strap variant, but was a little put off by the news of date wheel issues with the first batch of these. Apparently, a plastic component was being used in the date mechanism, which for a $1200 watch, seems a little stingy and cost-cutting, but the Swatch Group is good for that. Hopefully, this problem has been resolved.
@ConstantCadence8 күн бұрын
I saw those rumors as well and I can tell you that the date wheel now works perfectly...on mine as well as on my girlfriend's Xmas gift from me - the green dial flavor. The reserve is great and it's been keeping very good time as well.

@@ConstantCadence Very good to hear! I'm also eyeing the black/grey dial variant of the Ocean Star 39, but again it seems that the bracelet is where the cost-cutting happened with this piece. Nice review and I'll be checking out your channel for more!!

I love my green face / bracelet watch and thinking if I should get the rose gold / rubber strap variant. Would the green face will go with the brown strap ?? 😅
@ConstantCadence2 ай бұрын
I think a green face with a brown leather strap is a SOLID go to as far as watch/strap colors go. That being said, rubber isn't leather. I think that rose gold version is FIRE and I think that brown rubber strap will look awesome on both watches.

Do both the rubber strap and steel bracelet come with the watch, or do you have to purchase separately?
@ConstantCadence19 күн бұрын
It comes with one or the other. I purchased the rubber separately.
@safewaydriving346327 күн бұрын
The only drawback to this particular watch is the butterfly clasp. No micro adjustment. Which is unfortunate, particularly based on the price of the watch. Outside of that the watch is a very nice unit.
@ConstantCadence27 күн бұрын
I would agree. This is why I use the rubber strap most of the time.

Hi there, Do you get free rubber strap if you buy one SS bracelet?
@ConstantCadence21 күн бұрын
No. Either the SS or rubber are available with a $70 discount on the rubber versus steel.
@ That’s great . Your video has confirmed my decision on my Mido purchase. A Christmas gift to myself. Lol Keep up the great work.

Isn’t mido first in making square watches since the 1970s. ?
@ConstantCadenceАй бұрын
The Mido MultiStar is from 1972. It's very cool and I think they may be the originator of the vintage TV vibe. As for square watches the Cartier Santos was released in 1904!

True! I talk about this in the review. The case and orange strap are def aligned...but that's where the similarities end. If only the Aquanaut had a big date complication...then I might consider it! 😁😆😎💸

The Mido Multifort TV was released in 1973, three whole years before Gerald Genta debuted the Nautilus for Patek in 1976. The Patek is the homage.
