Have you seen how much they’re charging for this thing nowadays? Forget it. Plus, they don’t even sell the battery any longer, unless I’m reading their website wrong! You have to go to another supplier, and after hearing so many valid complaints about this company’s criminal business practices (product never received), my guess is their old battery supplier dumped them. But the most important thing: This unit will NOT significantly cool down an ultra hot albeit tiny enclosed area. Mid 90s F will maybe bring you down to 86 F, with the venting. Just look at the design. Not only is it only 1100 btu’s, the vents on the side still pour heat into your cooling area. The rear vent and tubing is an escape for moisture, but heat from the side of the unit still vents inside! If you could stick this thing in a window, like a regular window AC, with only one inch protruding into the interior, THEN it might work in serious conditions. But now? At its ridiculous price and dismal low power? You gotta be nuts to buy it.

I left a link of the 10 minutes video Zero Breeze asked us to proof the unit does not cool any room, we tested it in our Honda Fit taht's is really small and even has insulation on the windows as we use it for camping off grid, it was a cloudy afternoon, the temperature never went down, on the contrary, it went up a grade, they don't want to answer our emails, the unit doesn't cool and it leakes.

I agree about the fluff features. Do one thing and do it well. I'm buying an air conditioner, not a Swiss Army Knife. If I need a flashlight, I don't want a 12 pound one. The speaker? Useless! If I want bluetooth speakers to take camping, I'll go buy quality bluetooth speakers. Those items only add cost and bulk to the unit and add to battery drain. (OK, just a little battery drain, but it is still a drain.) Perhaps these fluff features appeal to some people who play at camping but go back to their city apartment when the sun goes down, but I don't think others will find them inviting. My test? If the air conditioning part of the unit stopped working, would I still take it camping to use the other features of the unit? In this case, definitely not!

First of all with the overheating issue of the AC power adapter... It's not heavy duty enough to handle the power load draw from the Zero Breeze. First need is to find the info on how many watts/amps the Zero Breeze draws. Then get an AC to DC power supply that can handle the power draw keeping in mind what voltage the unit actually operates on, 12, 24 ?? volts. Pulling too much power through an underrated power supply could be a fire issue.

@CUBAvtv 82 Save your money, don't get this. Do a bit more online research, it's very very sketchy and of course, you can see others leaving comments realizing similar concerns. If you're worried about running this on a standard 2k generator, not only will it be a waste of efficiency, you'd lose the benefit of the purchase and you'd also lose comparative advantage with other affordable option already on the market. Honestly, you're still just better off getting a regular smallest watt window AC unit and install those cheapo capacitors on it to help the AC get an extra boost whenever it surges to start the condenser. Without that capacitor, your generator won't be able to keep the AC going or even start on load.

Sounds like the unit cutting out was due to not enough generator power to push the unit. How many watts does it draw?
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely wasnt due to too much draw. The Zero Breeze draws about 150 watts, even when surging, only around 200. The generator puts out 1600 running watts and is capable of a 2000W surge. My guess? The adapter is hyper sensitive to voltage sag and as soon as the voltage dipped even slightly from startup load, the adapter cut off.

Have you tried running the unit using the battery as a pass-through, with the AC adapter plugged into the battery instead of the unit itself? Would the electronics in the battery pack allow it? What I'm thinking is, by doing so, the adapter only has to work as hard as the battery circuitry's maximum charging current allows. The unit draws power off the battery while the adapter keeps the battery charging. While it may not be good for the cells, it may be a possible workaround for the overheating issues on a really hot day.

will this work if I dont have a window or exit in the building to exhaust the hot air?
@davidechegoyen2318
@davidechegoyen2318 6 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me how long the exhaust hose is? I am literally about 30 feet from a window, so the hose has to be that long. Also, with many portable air conditioners, the hoses are made of thin plastic that let heat escape back into the room, ultimately making the room hotter than before the units are even turned on. Is this hose thick or insulated to not let that happen, and can you buy extensions for the hose if it is not long enough?
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Well first to address your complaint on the thickness of the material in most hoses, it needs to be thin to allow it to fold, otherwise it would be stiff and very difficult to re-size on the fly for moving a unit around. The hose of the Zero Breeze is on par with the standard thickness of most portable air conditioner hoses. The hose included in the box is 3 feet and unfortunately Zero Breeze doesn't recommend lengthening it much more than that. This is because the condenser fan can only be so powerful in such a small package and too long of a hose would prevent the system from effectively moving the air all the way out. Other than moving closer to the window, or placing the Zero Breeze near the window and letting it cool the whole room, I'm not sure it's the right choice for you. Have you considered just a simple but effective window AC unit?
@davidechegoyen2318
@davidechegoyen2318 6 жыл бұрын
ctuan13 Thanks for answering my question. My window is too small for an ac unit, also my window opens sideways, not up and down, making it even more difficult to fit any type of AC unit in it. I guess I’ll have just o do with an Arctic air or some similar small evaporative cooler, but the reviews for these types of units have not been good, which is why I was researching the Zero Breeze. I guess I’m out of luck. Surely SOMEBODY must sell a portable air conditioner with a hose that doesn’t let heat bleed back into the room.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
David Echegoyen Ahh I see, that is a tough situation. Well you can get portable air conditioners with sideways vents and you could always wrap the outlet hose with insulation to avoid heat bleed.
@Blakehx

very well explained review i`m been waiting years to find something like this. on 12 volt you can use a deep cicle battery on the trunk or a small battery bank to spend a night. in 12 volt there are many ways to run the unit. I was also imagin a unit with two exaust. one for the hot out an other to cool the condenser with outside air. that will increase the efficient cooling separating every air flow from the cold air. any way this is a very interesting product i like to have one. thanks for this good review.

You don’t want to move the unit with the compressor running, it causes premature valve failure. Perhaps this is one reason why they didn’t make it attach. If you truly want it to attach, one or two long Velcro straps to wrap around the unit.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Well of course, but even if you just want to carry the Zero Breeze and battery together to another location, that is now impossible to do with one hand. Not a good implementation in my opinion. Yeah Zero Breeze is a small company that seems to have overestimated it's ability to deliver on its promises, that's for sure. I have seen the coolala and though I think they may serve slightly different use cases, give the Zero Breeze's more compact size and battery modularity, it's a very compelling product at the price, if size and weight aren't as critical of a factor, over cooling capacity. But given that the coolala is almost the size and weight of a window AC unit, you've gotta ask yourself what's worth it. Hope this helps! And if I have the ability in the future, I will definitely review the Coolala!

At the end comment about it being a kickstarter item. they did have you a whole different concept on its features and how it was suppose to look. Plus I heard it took them like 1 or 2 years to get to its backer. Plus too on those few problems that with small tweaks the original design would have been those small tweaks but they got lazy it seem since they where already late on the item. Like the routing of the exhaust heat and the drainage water issue along with that battery connection problem. But I’m just memory from a backer video on this item who was waiting a year for it and was worried on the differ design without explanation.

What does it do with the heat? All AC's put out more heat than cold. There is the heat transferred that is exhausted plus heat generated by compressor and fan motors. Heat out one end and cool out the other? that is a no gain situation. So like a fan cooler out in the open maybe ok but it will not cool a closed room.

Robert Cromwell I've answered this question probably over a dozen times lol, there is an exhaust hose, I show in the video. This is used to exhaust hot air when using it indoors. Extend the end outside and you're good to go. Obviously because I was testing the unit, I didn't hook it up, but if I was going to use it for an extended period of time, I'd extend the end of the hose out of a window. I hope that eases your concerns, the zero breeze really is pretty neat! Consider checking out my review video!

I'm in love with the concept, but for about $300 I can buy a small window ac and a very small quiet generator and get more cold air, for less moeny. This thing is an awesome concept, but the price point will keep it from being interesting to most folks. If they can get the price point down around $250 or so they'd sell like nobody's business. At $400, I'll just keep sweating...and these are much more expensive than that. It would also be far more interesting if they used a very commonly available 'tool' battery, like a 20V DeWalt, rather than some obscure proprietary battery. I like the idea, but the price point is a total deal breaker.

AC inverters can cause power supplies like the power brick to run hotter than normal, probably why you're getting overheating. Pretty sure it doesn't matter that your inverter is pure sine.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Peter Cursio Well considering utility power is pure sine wave I doubt that. Excess heat is generally generated by harmonic distortion or deviation from pure sine wave. In addition, it overheated on utility power as well so unfortunately I don't think that's it, I just think it's too much power with too little coolig ability.

Why didn't you just put the power adapter in front of the a/c unit to keep it cool at all times?
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Brent McFarland Well 1. That shouldn't be required. An air conditioning product should not need to have some of it's output warmed up, just to keep its power supply cool. 2. Even so, I did try that and it made no difference. The sealed case of the power adapter just can't cool itself enough and gets hot too quickly.

i think the speaker is just for like the kids in the tent at night shit like that more of a gimmic bro. and with the drain thing its got a dryer and condenser thay are coverd in moisture they will drain a few drops after u shut it down but just a few drops ya cant be to critical its amazing thay did as much as the did for that size ! just wish they could make it a bit cheaper !!
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Well that's why my critique of the need to tip it to drain excess water on shutdown wasn't that big. Of course an air conditioner evaporator will form condensation. But my issue initially was the leak on the seal of the evaporator drain port. But that was a simple fix and hopefully will be fixed from the factory in the future with improved QC. But yes, it truly is an amazing product given it's size. However, it's these amazing engineering challenges fitting all of it into this size that probably lead to its increased price.

You mention - Why would you use an air conditioner that exhaust air back into the room, speaking of it being in the middle of the room. - You Can't or should't, you'll defeat your purpose of conditioning the air and make it less efficient. The vent pipe Must always be hooked up and vent the hot air outside of the room or car etc you are trying to cool. That's why the hose is so long, it Must be used always . You Cannot use this model outside in the open air. Oh it may work some but you'll overwork the unit and kill it much faster. It's the reason window units don't sit in the middle of the room.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Divergent Droid 1. Yes, in my unboxing video, I was operating the Zero Breeze in a room without exhausting the hot air outside. This was simply a demonstration. Whenever I use it indoors, I always exhaust the hot air out of the room I'm trying to cool, using the exhaust hose. 2. While it may make a the compressor work a bit harder, the Zero Breeze is literally marketed as the air condition you can take with you to make the outdoors bearable again, so I seriously doubt that it will fail from outdoor use. If it does, then I can say Zero Breeze has definitely engaged in false marketing.

Just the fact that a generator is an inverter generator doesn't mean its output has a clean true sine waveform. Just because your laptop and phone work on it doesn't mean anything either since they have batteries to act as a buffer. Did you try the ac with its battery and the generator? I suspect your power supply overheating would be eliminated by that.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Pass through usage unfortunately doesn't function with the Zero Breeze. As for my generator, I've verified it with a meter, you can actually check out my review on my channel. It is very clean output.
@mwilliamshs
@mwilliamshs 6 жыл бұрын
ctuan13 I watched it. A kill-a-watt meter doesn't indicate waveform, which is the only evaluation of "clean" power.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
mwilliamshs Yeah, I guess you're right. I didn't see any voltage deviation or frequency change, but I guess I'd need a spectrum analyzer to see the output waveform. But considering the AC adapter experiences the same overheating when connected to utility power, I doubt my generator is the issue.
@mwilliamshs
@mwilliamshs 6 жыл бұрын
ctuan13 voltage deviation or frequency change would only need to be finer than the resolution of the killawatt meter to go undetected. That meter's what, $20 @ Harbor Freight? If you want to know what's really going on, you need an oscilloscope. If the AC adapter is overheating, that's bad, no matter the power source. Why not lay the cord so that the brick is in the cool stream of air?
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
mwilliamshs I hear ya, man. I gotcha. Gonna need a scope to really know. Point is however, this occurred even with utility power. And even in front of the output, it still overheats. Besides the fact that this is difficult to accomplish with the Zero Breeze on a table and also get any cold air to also effectively blow at your face, it also should not be necessary. This is clearly either an internal breaker fault or a simple design flaw without enough heat dissipation. I mean having an potable air conditioner with a power supply that can't handle temperatures over 70 degrees, does that sound reasonable to you?

Thank you for the time taken to review the product. However I feel that your review focus only on mechanical issues with the appliance which is good information to have, however there was no real review as to its efficiency to cool down, like square area where is best used, open or closed doors or other environments like a tent for example would like to know if appliance would be great for a mid summer camping trip, should I expect to feel comfort in a tent under hot night humid conditions, things like that.
@ctuan13
@ctuan13 6 жыл бұрын
Considering I was able to stay cool out in the open in 89 degree weather, and feel the cooled and dehumidified air, I have no doubts that in a small enclosed space like a tent, you would feel very cool and the dehumidifying effect would be further amplified. I can try to do a future video testing the cooling capabilities in a tent, but as I do not personally own a camping tent, I'll have to source one for the video. Thanks for watching!

This is great for a tent. With the exhaust hose installed, the occupants, laying down on the floor, will probably be cooled a lot. Someone should do a comparison of two tents (we're not talking high finance), one with the Zero Breeze cooling it, and one without, on a hot night. The bottom section (one foot in height) of a small tent would be cooled nicely by only 1,000 BTU's.

@freedomairconditioner6152

I just thought of a cheaper test, that Zero Breeze could use possibly in their advertising. Have 2 bedrooms in a hot, unairconditioned house. In one room, set up the Zero Breeze. Put in on the window sill, with the cold air actually blowing downward, in an attempt to cool only the bottom 1 foot in height portion of the room, since putting it straight ahead or upward would cause the cool air to essentially disappear. The exhaust hose would be directed out the window, and the window sealed (basically) around the hose. Run it all day, and by maybe 9 p.m., see what the temperature is at the floor level. On hot nights in places where electricity is at a premium (like in India), the people could sleep on air mattresses or mats, on the floor in that room. If it was 75 and dry on the floor level in that room, it might be 95 and humid in the other room. That is a health benefit for anyone sick, and much better sleep for anyone who is healthy. No fans (like ceiling fans) should be used to stir/mix up the air in the room. There is only enough cold air to cool the bottom of the room. The cold air needs to stay stratified at the floor level.

*I HAVE A STRONG FEELING THE REASON THAT THE A/C ADAPTER WAS OVERHEATING IS BECAUSE YOUR GENERATOR WAS NOT OUTPUTING A PURE SINE WAVE. ELECTRONICS CAN HANDLE A MODIFIED SINE WAVES BUT THAT A/C HAS A REAL MOTOR AND MOTORS DONT LIKE SQUARE SINE WAVES. SOME HOW YOUR GENERATOR/INVERTOR WAS OUTPUTTING A MODIFIED SINE WAVE.
