What if there is a start and stop date for the tenancy but the word fixed or term certain is not used.

Then it is not a fixed term tenancy... it will be a tenancy determined by the length of time eg. 1 month, 3 month, 6 month or 1 year, hence the statutory notices has to be given.

If the landlord writes the tenancy agreement and does not use a lawyer, is a signed agreement between the tenant and the landlord considered illegal under Nigerian law? Question #2. Should the landlord’s written tenancy agreement carry the stamp duty to make it legal and enforceable under Nigerian law?
