I had seen Chromite emptying for the nerow gage vans when I was 4 or 5 years old , we were playing in the that rest house which showed in this vidio , thanks for refreshing my memory

Wonderful video Faheem ji as always. Is route ki lambai 298 KM ki hai. Very true, one of longest ever NG networks in the subcontinent. But India mein longest Narrow- Gauge network was through the plains and the distance came around 498 Kilometres from Chanda Fort to Jabalpur. Yes hilly region ki baat karein to Zhob valley is the longest NG network in the whole of subcontinent. Kangra Valley Railway on Narrow- gauge along the Dhauladhar ranges is 161 km long. Kalka to Shimla is 100 km long but that section actually climbs the mountains through the narrowest curves.

ZVR was laid primarily for chromite. Chromite was taken to Karachi and then to England by ships to be used in Steel mills to manufacture steel from cast Iron. Steel was used all accross the British empire. This is why British guarded this Quetta area with so much force and developed this area. But unfortunately we have been unable to exploit this natural resource and neglected Balochistan. Balochistan is the province which can make Pakistan a rich country

Faheem Sahib I simply don’t find words to express my heart felt THANKS to you for rekindling my childhood memories of Bostan Junction and it’s Officers Rest House. Way back in 1957, my grandfather ( Nana Jaan) was a very senior officer of NWR later on PWR. It was August 1957 when he visited Quetta for inspection. I enjoyed journey from Lahore to Quetta in an 8 wheeler bogey via Khyber Mail till Rohri and then with some other train upto Quetta n back. I at that time, a child of 11 accompanied my Grandfather in this journey upto Chaman n Kaan Mehtar Zai. These golden memories are the real asset of my life till depart for unknown destination. Once again Thank you very much. May Allah Rehman o Raheem bless you and family. Aameen.🙏💐💐💐🙏

There is a diversion here this route goes towards Pishawer via Ziarat- Bannu in Kohat- region etc. You travelled this time from Rohri-Sukkur-sibbi-Mach-Quetta-Boostaan-and tha Afghanistan Border City 🏙️🌆 Chaman route. Very well done Fahim bhai... really impressive that you also covered closed stations and bring us history.... Love and respect from Hertfordshire, England. Ho sakay to there is another closed narrow gauge line.... Mirpur Khas to Mirpur Khas.... circular way main chalti thi.... it used to go to... Digri.... Kachelo.... Kunri... Jhudo... and comes back to Mirpurkhas in the evening.... kabhi us patch ko bhi cover karain.... Kachelo and Kunri are my family villages... bharoon say us daily circular train k baray bohat suna.... it was a success of that time... I think that used to rum 3 times a day (in only 1970s and 80s).. and now even the track is gone in patches.... shame

Wonderful location just imagine if this narrow gauge line was operational Today ....!!! it would have been one of the best NG railway in the world. Still it is possible if Pakistan Railway try recreate. Once India had one of the biggest narrow gauge railway network in the Asia that was Satpuda Railway. It's all gone now everywhere is BG , now we have Kangra Valley Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and Kalka Shimla Railway which is operational with NG and Nilgiri Mountain Railway which is MG.

Your video has reminded of the days when we travelled with our father from Quetta to Boston and then from Boston to Hindu Baghdad. Our farther was in railways and he was assigned a saloon at that time. It had two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen , a store room and a servant quarter. It was in 1975 or 76. We were fasting and Maghrib azan was heard at Kannmehtarzae railway station where we had our iftar . The skeletons of railway bogies has made me so sad. Those were some golden days .
