Lloyd, I feel so guilty, and I don't know what to do! I was raised as a Witness, and as a child I did what I was told. Because, there were repercussions for not doing what I was told. I begged a school best friend to study with me, because I had severe anxiety and was mortally terrified of the field ministry. I was forced to get baptized at thirteen by my mom. I wasn't old enough to understand what that meant. Then, I was told that I had to start publishing. I was traumatized by being raised in this religion. My guilt comes from the fact that when my best friend and I were older, she became a Witness around the same time that I realized that they were a cult. She has changed so much that she is like an extreme psycho Witness robot. I feel responsible, and I don't know how to wake her up. She is extremely hostile about anything negative said about the organization. I don't know how to undo the wrong that I have done to her!!!

The Bible says the word itself is enough if you are looking for truth. Charles Taze Russell even was against organized religion and his Bible students because just that. History is there for us to see how far we've come and the JW org poison the well when it comes to history.

Bible principals don't work in USA society public school system. I was bullied and beaten at school. My mom was Mexican and practicing JW, my dad was Jewish American. I did not blend in with the other kids plus I grew up poor in the housing projects. The other Latino student noticed I was mixed and could not speak Spanish. My teachers encouraged my mom to quit the JW because it was not teaching me social development. I was too shy.

So I had the opposite experience as this drama. When I was leaving the Jw faith, my father asked me if I wanted to see my mother again after she had died when I was 14 and after he had remarried. That was when I refused to go to another meeting, which was only when I visited him and my step-mother. Afterwards we agreed that we wouldn't talk religion....except that THEY broke that promise time and time again and then would get upset when I pointed out the ridiculousness of their positions and the fact that they knew next to nothing about biblical scholarship which was what I was reading and learning about. The fact that they can't handle criticism of their faith is all you need to know about this group.

Ask them what they would do if they found something about their teachings that the Bible clearly says the opposite about. Then turn to Revelation 5:10, and read from their version. Then let them show you what other versions say, from their own online Bible library. All other versions say "They will reign on this earth," but only the JW version says they will rule over the earth. Ask them what they think? Keep me updated

Dirk Mensing, You could politely tell the Witnesses who are studying with you that you're simply no longer interested in continuing your Bible study sessions with them. You have no obligation to continue the Bible study course that you underwent with them, and you shouldn't feel as if you do. After all, you chose to give them some of your spare time every week for however long you have been undergoing these Bible study sessions.

People are referred to as sheep. Stephen Lett talks about the (how many?) few qualities of a sheep that people relate to as follows: 1. Wanting companionship. 2. Don't like to be alone. 3. Sheep are calm and subjective followers. What else? That's all that Lett mentioned here. The god of the bible LOVES the sacrifice of lambs (baby sheep) to himself. He LOVES the aroma of their bleeding and burning on a sacrificial altar. Likewise, the organization metaphorically offers its sheep to this biblical god. Then you have two choices: Either comply with everything the organization orders ~or~ choose to be slaughtered by a merciful, loving god along with the rest of this evil world.

I was a witness from 1986 to 1994, I loved Queen, Bowie all the rock legends. The elders came to my room at the hostel and broke all my Queen albums. When I left, I gained myself back. And some more. Discovered heavy metal all over again. I became a Christian( not that kind of Christian) not once did I turn to drugs or sex, I am asexual as it turns out. So this poor lad who listened to punk, turned to drugs and sex because of him, not the music he listened to. Punk is also awesome. I'm still a Christian many years later and I still listen to punk and metal, still asexual and still not into drugs. Not even alcohol. This is sooo sad😢. Lloyd I think you're awesome

I certainly thought God had some weird views of sexual relationships and sexuality in general. I can remember one brother in a congregation who was a school teacher and married with a rather lovely wife and (I think) three kids. He just one night took off with a girl from the school (I’m sure she was of legal age.) And while I’m not trying to excuse the guy especially, I understood that his response was primal and, apparently, God-given. Yet God would then condemn him for those very same urges. But, more specifically to your point, the JWs had all sorts of rules: no sex that wasn’t ‘where the bits might normally be expected to go.’ I never understood why God would really care about that level of intimacy between a married couple. And then there were the apparently literal and God-given rules related to extra-marital sex: your partner had sex with a same-sex partner and no divorce; bestiality and no divorce. So God got all angsty about teenage masturbation but I was required to be accepting of zoophilia? Crazy stuff.

I just had training on bullying as a teacher. The most effective prevention? Supervision and reporting. Specifically, the kids need to be asked where the bullying occurs, because often there are a few out of the way places where most of the bullying happens. A staff member strategically placed can at least lessen the physical bullying. Maybe not the emotional and social bullying, but the actual violence.

Regarding the book of Hebrews, while the WT claim that it was written by the Apostle Paul, actually most modern scholarship doubts this in the extreme. The authorship of that book is still under debate. Interestingly, at Bible college, I was taught that the main reason why the book was included in the canon was because whereas there was doubt that Paul wrote it, they included it because it couldn't be proved that he didn't. So even back then there was doubt.
