Great review - I just finished this book last night. Was looking forward to reading it as I loved the premise but that was not the book we got. I totally agree with your points. It started off good and I enjoyed Amina gathering the old crew and all that right up to the halfway point of the book where I felt it fell off a cliff and was such a struggle to finish. Very underwhelming.

I overall liked it. Though I'd rather have read Amina's adventures of becoming the feared pirate than what was in this book.

I felt the same way about this book… 😢 too much telling not showing in the exposition of the main character. I was so hyped about it, but this ended up being my most disappointing book in my mid-year book tag.
