Looks beautifully made. Enjoyed the video. Not having a great day at work. Everyone is expecting me to come up with a solution, while I'm watching knife videos. Think I got it, though.

@@doodysdaggers Everyone gets to go home except me. I own the company, so I'm there 7 days a week. Tomorrow, I'll do all of the administrative BS that didn't happen today, and plan for next week on Sunday then produce a schedule. Not complaining. Life could be worse. Been there. BTW, got my Cru Yojimbo sprint. It's freakin' beautiful.

I literally got an email from Hinderer today and ignored it and assumed they would be sold out and check the site not even ten minutes ago and the one I put on my wishlist a year or two ago was still available and and I pulled the trigger! I’ve tried for years to get a XM 18! No matter the blade shape. I have my ZT Hinderer knives and they are amazing but I can’t wait to handle an actual Hinderer XM 18!!! I’m so pumped to get it in hand!

I have a couple 3.5” and currently one 3” but I’ve had other 3” versions. It’s tiny lol. Think mini griptilian, but sturdy. I will say the 3” carry’s better and I actually have it on me today, they’re nice. But I prefer the 3.5” action, but I like the skinny blade thickness better. The regular cuts way better than people act.

I just got my first Hinderer xm18 a week ago. I traded a shaman and some cash for one. Its a gen 4 warncliff fatty and the action on teflon is actually crazy smooth and its drop shutting too which blew me away. I also found a smoking deal for a gen 6 xm18 harpoon spanto so i snatched it up as well. I went from wanting a hinderer xm18 so badly to owning 2 in the same week. It made me lose my mind as well

I have the clip point. I do Ike your opinion, nonetheless. I haven’t played the edge back to 17° like I do on my other knives. It would be a huge bevel! I won’t even be able to get much higher than 20° on my tsProf. That is only thing I don’t like about my tsPro.

I got 2 on the way. Wanted one to stash and one to use. They have the spanto as well. I wanted something durable/built to last. I just took a liking to Spydercos after planting a seed in my head for them (shamans in particular) I would like to start saving some more money but idk something tells me I’m going to like the hinderers and want more… atleast there’s a secondary market for things like this lol.

Did you put a new titanium scale on that? If that is the working finish I have the exact knife coming in the mail in a day or two and am looking at getting rid of the G10 for titanium. I know Hinderer has the Ti scale in working finish in stock and if that’s what that is I’ll pull the trigger.

Thanks for the reply. I already ordered the Ti scale in working finish from Hinderer. Now that I have the working finish I think I’ll do a stone wash finish XM-18 next. But also trying to get a SNG and a Koenig Arius so I guess it depends on what I find first.

I noticed Shigorov knives are like 750$ plus for something that does look like it should be. Curious what makes them so great.. anyone? Sorry it's off the subject. But I'm very very intrigued.

Partly, it’s name recognition. But rightfully so. As I understand from respectable reviewers, the tolerances, fit & finish, and action are unrivaled for a production knife. I own 2/3 of the Holy Trinity makers (just grabbed a Strider SMF), with Chris Reeve being the last. After obtaining a Chris Reeve, a Shirogorov is next.
@doodysdaggers
@doodysdaggers Жыл бұрын
Yeah Deaner said it. I’ve never handled one, but the fit and finish and tolerances are perfection. Probably a fantastic detent too. I bought a Shiro clone back in the day, it was actually really good. I don’t support the making of clones but if that clone was that good, I imagine the real thing is mind blowing.

Reviewing a Hinderer, Chris Reeve, Strider, and even a knife from the worlds greatest maker, Benchmade😅, is a bitter/sweet thing. It forces you to identify the design flaws of something you’ve been conditioned to give “idol” status. But, as a reviewer, it’s important to give an unbiased evaluation, and pop your own bubble. Unless your a fan boy that gushes and empties his wallet over an old knife design that’s given a “never used before” color scales, and stands in line, ready and willing to pay more money for it. 💩4🧠’s. There out there. Makers love and depend on fan boys (suckers). But, I digress. One issue that leaps out and should be addressed, and would not “taint” the XM-18 legacy, is to get rid of the Philips screws. Dumb. Very dumb. Here’s a question, you have $580 to spend on a new knife, you get a choice of only 2 knives: Benchmade Narrows Hinderer Project X 😂🤣😂😜
@doodysdaggers
@doodysdaggers Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I like the shade you’re throwing at these BM enthusiasts. There are definitely blind fanboys out there, I like to think I’m not one. But it does take some thinking and self reflection to be able to point out flaws in something you love so much. The Phillips screws are stupid, I agree. Too thick behind the edge. Flipper tab is pointy but it serves a purpose. Overall it’s a fucking badass knife. Can’t wait to see you review that SMF 😂 And holy shit I didn’t even think of that comparison. Narrows or Project X. That’s absolute insanity
@Richard_Cranium_Daily
@Richard_Cranium_Daily Жыл бұрын
@@doodysdaggers Another aspect (huge), in addition to confronting the “idol” status, is this You spent $425 on it. $425! Then another $200+ to dress it out. The fan boy tendency would be default to confirmation bias, and gush about it even more, not willing, or more importantly, capable of any other mind set. I love Chaves designs. In terms of a neutral, sleek & sturdy design (not to mention bad assery), it checks all the boxes. But, are they perfect. Not quite. Is everything Chaves puts out perfect. Hell no! I ordered the T.A.K., both in the DP and Tanto. I sent them both back for credit. Keeping in mind, I own 12 Chaves. The T.A.K. is a horrible knife, reserved only for the Chaves fan boys. Rock on brother👍🤘

@@Richard_Cranium_Daily agreed! You know it’s interesting, I’ve watched probably 6 different reviews of the TAK and nobody had any negative to say about it. Except you. And ya know whose opinion I trust over these knife KZbinrs? Yours. Haha If you have zero negative to say, more than likely you have an agenda and are pushing the product.
