I love it, traded my Porsche Macan in on a FL5 and couldn't be happier. The FL5 gives me more of a nostalgic feel than the FK8.

How do you find the ride comfort. Every video I’ve seen now I can’t help but think the fl5 looks like the suspension is firmer than the fk8.
@TomShorrock4 ай бұрын
That’s some trade in, good on you. The suspension on this one is just way to firm when it’s in R mode
@Chris122114 ай бұрын
@@TomShorrock I’ve driven the fk8 in R mode on the road and I didn’t find that too bad. It seems they’ve made the ride harder on the FL5. I guess the tram lining on the fl5 mentioned in the video is because of the wider tyres. Never heard it mentioned as an issue on the fk8’s.
@TomShorrock4 ай бұрын
@@Chris12211 I think the fk8 was the sweet spot for me, however I think the FL5 looks better. With that said the suspension on R mode is that stiff I found all four wheels coming off the floor when hitting a divet on the B roads 😂😂

I wonder if people actually know how old this show is because it disappeared for many years

Funny you should say that, I was literally just watching an old episode from 1999 with Richard Hammond reviewing the (then) new BMW E46!!! I saw this pop up in the suggested column, recognised the name and thought I should check it out!

Had my ep3 for 6 years and still absolutely love the thing, i love all the TypeR range, and I'd still keep my ep3 and have either of the fk2 fk8 or the fl5 which is beautiful.

Lonely car, the handling is unreal !!! So powerful , the limit slip diff makes this car fantastic, worth ever penny' I've had a Evo 6, and loved it, but to be honest I prefer the Honda type R.

I paid 56k for mine it was the first car to go on sale not from a main Honda dealer didn't think we would see many for sale but a few weeks later quite a few started to appear with a mark up seems a bit silly now with quite a few cars under 45k for sale I think when the last new cars are sold this year the price will rise again hopefully

@@andypoolman3484 Can't tell you how sad it makes me to see someone talking like that about a Civic type R. From real-world people's performance hero, to speculators toy... what a sad way to go for such a loved enthusiasts brand like Type R. But with prices like this I guess that was inevitable.

It certainly IS everything a hot hatch should be.... Except for one thing. Value for money! Aren't hot hatches supposed to be accessible to regular people? New or used, I know I will never get to drive this car. It is just way too expensive. It's price ensures it will remain rare, and its rarity will insure it retains it's value. Therefore, while it is a serious bit of kit, it is out of reach for average earners and will never be the people's performance hero like the EP3 was (£15,995 when launched in 2001...about £28k today!). I can admire it as a car for what it can do but, at £50,000, in today's economy, on UK roads, no part of it makes sense, unfortunately.

No, no awd please. Then it just becomes like everything else and loses all the driving qualities you mention.

I think 4wd will always be out of favor for small performance cars with honda, once upto decent speeds the all wheel drive advantage disappears, also leaving a clear disadvantage once a corner comes into play, weight is a huge factor in directional change and breaking, it will always be a burden minus the mythical gtr or evos of the world, but yeh good review of fl5. Welldone👍🏾

Une bonne compacte sportive comme on en voit de moins en moins malheureusement. En tout cas, je préfère cette Type R à l'épilateur électrique qu'est le e:Ny1.

@@Birmingham_racing No, it peaked in 2001 with the EP3 and that K20 motor, for £15,995. Nobody has made a better performance bargain since.
