My Jazzy Elite...I've been thrown face first 5 times now. First was day one. After the chair bottoming out on my threshold I let off at bottom of ramp and it STOPPED instantly, throwing me off face down in the grass. The little wheel had fell off. 2 weeks later fell off again. They came out and replaced both front tiny wheels and adjusted foot rest. Still hit threshold (it's totally destroyed). I tried with seatbelt on and the whole chair about tumbled. Every time. Now I must recline seat all the way back to move if I plan on stopping. Today I went out my kitchen door onto the deck. Soon as I let off the joystick I went down, arms first on top of my cell phone, breaking the screen. It also took out the joystick knob every time as you reaction is to hold on. My previous chair was a Jazzy Select. I love it, never a problem. Then it broke a wheel and can't buy one so Medicare got me the Elite cause I was 303 lbs. I've used it maybe 15 trips, 5 times falling out. I bought a used Select and I'm happy again. The Elite don't fit through my bath door, the select does. Don't buy one, it's junk. Seat needs to be back a little or the front wheels need to be forward more. Also bent my thumb several times putting the foot rest down. Very bad design. Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicare and I'm not too sure what service and advice they are supposed to provide. I was told that the dealer should go to the home and asses you and your property and provide you with the correct mobility device for your needs. I would say that is a poor Medicare dealer who didn't assed your property and mobility needs and is more concerned about getting payment. I think they should have advised you a that your thresholds may be an issue if they are not a smooth transition and recommended threshold ramps for a smooth transition. Also, it sounds like speed may be an issue with the chair and I would have reduced the chair to a lower speed and deceleration percentage especially if you are being thrown out of the chair.
