With the blending test, I would recommend using the colorless blender underneath your markers. So, you’d put down the colorless blender on your paper, and then put down your markers and blend. Then, you’d get a more smooth result. Another thing, using a different paper, specifically Ohuhu marker paper, would improve the art testing a lot, since it’s especially made for Ohuhu markers. Overall, this is a great test! 😊
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
I’ll try that blending tip out for sure! It would be great to get a test going with the Ohuhu paper, it’s on the list!

I’ve done a video on hot press vs cold press paper but not really anything specific to what paper works best with what. Maybe once I’ve down more alcohol markers I’ll do a comparison to a heap of papers and alcohol markers. Sort what’s best with what sort of thing ☺️

It was great to see you do some coloring at the end there. I would hesitate to buy a large container if they're prone to running out quickly, but I might try a small set and see how it goes.

I totally understand your frustration with how they come in the big set it took me a while to figure it out they put them divided into sets so you have 2 or 4 sets in the big set and when you want to add more you just need to buy another small set till you have the entire collection. But swatch chart is colour order so annoying
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Oh do they come a bit more organised with the smaller kits? Haha the frustration was real here😂. Hopefully at a future point Ohuhu will revamp the color system and it’ll be easier for future marker lovers ☺️💜
@KarenKhen94Ай бұрын
@@StuffBySunshine maybe I didn’t explain it properly in the big kits it’s divided into sections each section is a different set they didn’t just throw random markers in the bag they are organised by different colour sets
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Oooh! So the 48 and such! I’d love to compare two of the same sized kits to see if they are sorted exactly the same.☺️
@KarenKhen94Ай бұрын
@ exactly it took me ages to figure this out. It’s another way they are able to keep things so cheep they organise markers by sets and put a few sets together to make the bigger packs there are a lot of little things I noticed from a business production perspective that they do that cuts a lot of overheads it’s how they stay so cheep. A little frustrating for us consumers but totally worth it for the price in my opinion. Also I’m also heavy handed I find it I don’t need to over think that with Ohuhu brush tips and I get into more of a flow then copics but that’s just me. Thank you for another amazing review love your channel and your colouring books ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have the Honolulu B series (brush and fine), and have used them for a few months and only 4 of them are drying out. The lighter colors seem to be ones that run out first. I agree that the naming and order are definitely frustrating, but can’t beat the price for a nice brush marker.
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
I think it’s definitely worth it for the price but you’re right the lighter colors go fast!

Ohuhu Honolulu is a phrase that tickles me so 😊 While copics are industry professional grade, I still prefer Ohuhu with its affordability and mindfulness though I don't know how they will hold up in the long run

😂you have no idea how many times I stuffed that up! Between you and me I haven’t touched my copics since buying these 😂. I love copic but just having so much color in the Ohuhu is also luxurious!

@geckleonАй бұрын
Curious about when you got your Copics, because at least among my friends that tends to be the deciding factor between what is better. Copic changed their shell design in the last 5 years, newer shells are cheap and prone to cracking, my 8 year old Copics are as vibrant and juicy as the day I got them, newer ones seem to have a design flaw around the chisel cap that causes it to break and dry out the marker.
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Ooh! I got mine ages ago, I'll have to check the shells, thanks for pointing it out!

If you want to complement the 216 set, buy the 104 Set (that way you get the 320 set) and NOT the 120 (like you mentioned in your video). The 120 set is already included in the 216, so you will only buy duplicates !
@StuffBySunshine24 күн бұрын
Oooh good advice ☺️, now just have to wait for it to be available again!
@ryannemillard7483Ай бұрын
I'm surprised that people have said they are drying out quickly. I've had my 216 ohuhu set for 2 years, I use them sooooo much and have only had one dry out (the black because my daughter was using it also). My one set of copic markers dried up after only a month or two and much less frequent use. I personally prefer my ohuhu to copic. I prefer their brush nib and how they feel in my hand. I do agree, the numbering system is nonsensical. lol. Also, for bendability, paper is EVERYTHING!
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Yes I’m definitely finding that paper matters SO MUCH with markers! I’m thinking I’ll try another paper and see what happens. Look I mean I do these tests over and over just to make sure I get the truest results so maybe I’ve just gone through the ink super quick? When we have more data on markers I think it’ll be easier to see if the ohuhu actually do dry out fast or if it’s just more of an alcohol marker thing. I’m really enjoying using markers in my work now so I think we’ll definitely test more. Thanks so much for your thoughts! 😊

It's been forever since I've used alcohol markers. It looks as if the green and red hard blend mixed into a sort of blue indigo color. The red kind of seemed off when building. How red was the red, warm or cool ? Marker colors compared to the cap I would think is a lot like watercolor - have to build up the match the cap color, and the colors change after drying. I never thought much of marker blenders. Alcohol markers are not my thing. Tombow watercolor markers have a swatch on line, with a very color accurate numbering from the yellows to greens to blues to violets to reds. I do find it odd that they would number it the way they did, I'll re-watch the video again.
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Yeah the red was more of a scarlet than a real rich red. It was a warm red though. It’s so true that the colours definitely look super different when they dry! It make it really hard with that and the numbering system to work out which colours which 🤪
@peterburrows4824Ай бұрын
You should have maybe used the brush tip more for the blending. The hard edges were from using the chisel tip. I think you should redo the test using the brush tip.

Awesome, thorough review! Thank you! Over the last few days, I was debating on the Ohuhu set sitting in my shopping cart for a few days... Winsor and Newton promarkers rank higher than all the markers I've tried, including Copics, too. The ink in W&N promarkers is just so luscious and beautiful to lay down. I highly recommend them over copics or any other markers Edit: For colorless blenders of any marker brand, you put the colorless blender first, then layer the colors above it.
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Ooh I've heard good things about those! I'll have to check them out sometime! 😊
@XBeejeeXАй бұрын
I've had these markers for 3 years now and you really did your best to make them look bad. I think it's due to the your paper chose and the fact you use the chisel side. I never liked the chisel nib because it promotes streaky results. Consider redoing your test with the brush nib. Another thing; isn't layering a feature of this medium? I find it strange that you act shocked about the fact that the color keeps getting darker when adding more layers. Consider adding an extra layer to your swatch cards to make your color chose more predictable.
@StuffBySunshineАй бұрын
Hi! I’m not trying to sell the markers or pencils or anything I review here so realistically I’m looking for the best and worst of them. I’m also comparing them to what I know. In this case the copics. The ohuhu are great markers, but I really did have to work to make them look as good as they did. With the layer test, sure that’s a feature but I’m looking for primarily consistency. It’s going to be a lot marker specific, but i try and put as much of the test up as possible so you can make your own mind up. I didn’t think they did too bad in layering to be honest.
