Unfortunately, it can actually be quite difficult to realize you’re hallucinating. Your brain will ignore leaps in logic similarly to how absurd things feel normal in a dream. Especially if it’s a full senses hallucination, or even just sight and sound. Most people won’t attempt to touch what they’re hallucinating because generally it’s distressing, and sight and sound is enough for your brain to have no doubt that something is real. Even sight without sound and vice versa can be enough depending on what you’re hallucinating. Just sound is enough if you hallucinate a radio speaking to you, just sight is enough if you’re seeing figures that aren’t there. So yes, if you notice you’re hallucinating, absolutely stop operating heavy machinery, but being able to realize you’re hallucinating is harder than you might think.

I had a couple of episodes and I can say for sure that suddenly seeing a long figure in a white coat standing in my hallway made me realise that it had to be one of the hallucinations. Seeing my roommie some time later, on the other hand, didn't make me question the fact why she wasn't asleep and was holding two cans of energy drinks at 4 in the morning(she hates energy drinks).

@@ChronicRen Your brain actually doesn't ignore hallucinatory effects, though. It releases stress chemicals in response to them, as a way to warn itself. It's the same thing your brain does when you don't quite trust the safety of something. Your brain subconsciously identifies real things based off sight, smell, sound, feel, distance, etc. and if something is off, it can pick up on that quite well.

Nyctophobia was quite an interesting one. The jarring stillness of the main menu of the 3rd game coupled with the ambience was SUPER unnerving. The animatronic designs make me very curious, but also make me want to stay as far away from them as possible, which is a very interesting internal conflict I had that I actually liked for them. Nyctophobia has a lot of potential I think, it just needs better gameplay.

so basically they aren't animatronics, but rather ghosts of the voice actors for the fredbear and friends show, they got injured from a fire in the studio and were taken to a hospital which the staff did nothing to help them so they died and the hospital was shut down. after the first game they follow you around and tell you to go to the studio where the other two ghosts reside. And yes at some point when i learn to make games with better software's, I will remake them

Something ya'll should know about Dereliction is that it was made in a couple weeks, as like a very small project for his followers since he hadn't released much in a while. That explains the more basic gameplay and minimal world building. Not sure if he's gonna expand this game's universe or not. It was a very small project compared to circuitboard's other games. I recommend you check out his other older project: Fazbear Factory, and his new big project: Saturday Night at Freddy's. Cuz those games had way more work put into them. But yeah I've talked to the creator a bit and he's an awesome guy. Definitely deserves more attention. Awesome job including him!

I actually was the creator of the three nyctophobia games, yes my coding knowledge is limited and I did get a bit ambitious with the second game, i will be honest I hoped it turned out better but the second one is now my least favorite. I was younger when I made nyctophobia one and two, Thanks for talking about my games, it made my day. and the reason the third one doesn't work is because it has a lot more stuff in it compared to the other two and i used scratch to make them so it was way too much for the app to handle in terms of the second one. Also in the third game there is a hide button on the other side of the screen, one for each corner, when freddy appears he does a laugh and then after a set amount of time he appears when he does, hit the hide button in the bottom right of the screen, the buttons are invisible until your mouse touches them, on the next night chicas sound cue is pots and pans, hide on the left when she appears, the third night, when bonnie is ready there will be a deep Lugh that kinda sounds like nightmare fredbears, when you hear it press the "S" Button to turn backwards until you hear the sound cue from one of the other ghosts. Also behind you is a window, foxy will slowly approach, he only moves when you are facing forwards, close the blinds to make him leave, also hit "W" to look forward, that should be it. also on the first game you have to survive till twelve, I apologize if it is much longer than you expected, just give them another try, Except for the second it is broken beyond repair

The animatronic designs and mechanics in KOHD are unbelievably cool! The realistic-looking designs perfectly center them in the uncanny valley, I'm surprised not many fangames go for that look. The placement of the animatronics also feel right in the mind of a scared child in a new place, placing monsters in all the least known places. Creeping up from the edge of your bed, coming from under the bed, right outside your peripheral vision, right outside your door, and a shadowy figure made up from everyday objects cast in shadow are perfect locations for monsters to creep up from. I vividly remember being scared of pretty much those exact locations in my bedroom in my sleepless nights as a kid. (Reading this back its kinda hard to make sense of, but i honestly couldn't find a better way to express exactly how i feel about the design of the first game)

Nyctophobia unintentionally feels like Ben drowned in a sort of way. Like it's a game you would find on a blank cartridge that has a game's name written on it without any other context as to what it holds besides some vague warnings from the person who gave it to you. Like,you could honestly turn it into an entire horror story you need to solve if you let cook more in the oven

Nyctophobia 3 main menu sound was probably made using Paulstretch, it's an ancient piece of software that allows to stretch audio to absurd extent, the result is almost always some real scuffed sounding ambience.
